LOGINPain was all Bridget knew. For the past ten years of her life, a man she thought she could trust to have her back and protect her, was the one man who beat her mercilessly for the mistake that his own son made. Pulled away from her family and forced to become not only the Alpha’s slave but also his mute punching bag, Bridget believed this was all she was destined to have in life and pleaded for the day she’d die as release. But that all changed the day the highly respected and powerful Alpha King was set to visit their pack, with everyone distracted, Bridget took her chance and fled. Stopped by a border guard whose main objective was to kill her, that very same Alpha King who had intended to meet the Alpha, found Bridget instead. Realising this beautiful but mute woman in front of him was his mate, the Alpha King wasted not a moment killing the border guard and returning to his palace with Bridget beside him. Past enemies, gruesome memories and a crazed Alpha hoping to fully silence his once complicit slave, threatened to tear the pair apart, but for the Alpha King, Bridget was his to protect and he’d stop at nothing to keep it that way. Can Bridget put the fear of the past behind her and fully embrace her new life with her mate, or will she forever be silenced by the past? Read on to find out.
View More“Where are you?!” Alpha Stephen’s loud and dangerous voice bellows from the landing, his footsteps heavy allowing the worn wooded flooring to cry out in pain.
Scrambling to my feet in sheer panic, I bound towards my closed bedroom door, shock and absolute terror running through me as I took the handle into my small hands. I had accidentally, overslept and didn’t prepare the Alpha’s food in time. As I reach the corridor to the back rooms I have been forced to reside for many years, the dark presence of the man who causes me nothing, but pain and fear appeared at the very end of the corridor. His stance alone proved to me how angry he was, I hadn’t forgotten such a task in many years so my heart pounded in my chest worried I may have pushed him over the edge this time. “Where is my breakfast?!” He asked even louder than before as his steps drew closer to me, my breath coming out of my lips in fast motions, I knew better than to make direct eye contact, so my eyes rested on the floor. I believed my head was going to explode when this dangerous Alpha stopped right in front of me, his towering body pulling me to stand in his pitch-black shadow, my hands behind my back and eyes closed. “How dare you force me to wait!” He shouts so close to my ear that it began to hurt and ring, but that was the least of my troubles, bringing his fist up and sending a punch to my face, I land in a heap on the floor by his feet, my jaw instantly, felt as though it was close to breaking, like each other part of my body. “I thought the years of my beatings would have drummed this careless behaviour out of you, perhaps I’ve been slacking recently!” He continues to harass me as his foot with those awful expensive boots lifts up and kicks me in the stomach, even more pain rushes through me as I hold onto my injured stomach and force the sobs to stay at bay. But I didn’t have the time to nurse my wounds as my dark brown hair is grabbed into his fist and pulled sharply giving me no choice but to rise to my feet. With my hair still in his hands, Alpha Stephan begins to pull me down the corridor he had bounded down not moments before and out into the more populated areas of the pack house, a place deemed too good for me to stay in. Not a single pack member offered me assistance as I’m dragged through the lobby, some even spat in my direction and began to call me the vilest names possible, but names I had heard so many times the sting was less effective. I didn’t know why I always kept hoping somebody in this place would help me, the almost ten years of abuse from the Alpha and any other person bored at the time was more than enough time for a good samaritan to step in and stop it but deep down, it was all I’d pray for. After a few longer moments of silent pain, the doors to the private kitchen reserved for the Alpha and any other person he was to entertain fly open, the Alpha also sending me flying to the ground with a thump. “I expect my breakfast on the table in five minutes! If it is not there or up to my standards, I will ensure you choke on it!” He shouts staring down as I lay on the kitchen floor knowing better than to make any sudden moves when his eyes were on me, he will see it as my body not beaten enough and will ensure I felt his wrath. After shouting his orders at me, he walks back through the doors slamming it behind me, the empty kitchen I stand in for hours at a time dead silent. Placing my shaking hands down to rest on the black tiles of the floor, I use the little strength I held and pull my broken body to stand. Due to how hard he has grasped my hair, my head hurt and allowed a dizzy like spell to occur, the countertop being the object to stop me from tumbling down to the ground once again. “This isn’t fair Bridget; we don’t deserve to live like this!” My wolf whines in my head, she was the only thing to ever speak to me with kindness, my head no longer spinning allowing me to start my job and make the Alpha’s breakfast, hoping it was to a standard he’d appreciate. “I don’t have any other choice, if we make the Alpha wait any longer, the beating will happen again.” I replied in a panicked voice rushing over to the fridge and pulling out the ingredients I would need, I had planned what to make for him last night but due to my lateness, I hadn’t arrived in the kitchen on time. “Staying here can no longer be an option, that man will kill us before too long! We haven’t even found our mate yet!” She continued to exclaim repeating what she tells me whenever the Alpha beats me, which can sometimes be daily. “As I’ve told you before, we aren’t strong enough to leave this pack, we’ll be caught before we even reach the borders and who knows what the Alpha would do then! We have no other choice but to stay here.” I reply reaching over to retrieve one of the large carving knives from the block and pulling it into my hands, my eyes gaze over the sharp blade for a moment, my hands shaking as though they knew the way to get me out of this mess, but shaking my head and beginning the Alpha’s breakfast, I hoped I would get this done in time. Pushing the dining room door open with my foot while the food rested on the pristine white plates in my hands, the Alpha sat on his chair right at the head of the dining table. His face held anger and hatred as his eyes watched me hurry down the long table and place the food in front of him, my shaking hands hidden around my back as to not show my fear, he has broken many of the bones in my fingers when he saw such a sight. “Finally, it is only half an hour late!” He says with such anger in his voice as he lifts up his fork and takes a generous helping, my heart pounding in my chest as the food enters his mouth, I didn’t need another beating. “It is lucky this food is passable! Why do you always enjoy angering me, do you like my beatings?” He asks with a mouthful of food, if I wasn’t so terrified, the way the bacon poured from his mouth would have disgusted me. I never understand why the Alpha chooses to ask me such questions, he is very aware that I have not spoken a word for almost nine years, under his strict orders. My wolf is the only thing I speak to and that is with my mind, no one within this pack house but she has heard my voice in so long. Even when the Alpha’s beatings become deadly, no sounds leave my lips, my silent sobbing takes much of my time at night. “Now, instead of watching me eat, head into the kitchen and clean! I have a rather important guest attending lunch today and I expect to see that kitchen spic and span for the professionals to prepare our food. Understood?” He asked in another deadly tone placing more food in his mouth, with a nod of my head, I do as I’m told and hurry out of the dining room and back into the kitchen to clean. What I didn’t know in this moment, the Alpha’s special visitor, was about to change my entire life.Waking up the next morning, back at palace and wrapped up in Sebastian warm arms, it was the first time in what feels like a lifetime, that I can finally take a breath. There was no longer this deep hidden weight that rested upon my shoulders or any sense of guilt for all that’s happened, now all of my family sat safely within the walls of the palace which had been my safe haven, I felt as though I could relax but only a little, Alpha Stephen was still out there planning who knows what. As Sebastian had explained to me yesterday and why it was so important that we finally, completed the mating process, the documentation with all the evidence surrounding my years of abuse was handed to the board last night. It would most likely be a huge topic of discussion today where Alpha Stephen will soon get word of, to him, he will need to get rid of me and anyone else who has a word to say against him to ensure he cannot be punished for all he’s done. If he was dangerous before this point, I d
We remained at my parent's house for hours after that, talking, singing a little and even ate some of my mother's famous pie she’d only make on special occasions growing up. Since the abuse started with Alpha Stephen, I worried most of my memories from childhood were gone due to the trauma, but the more I sat talking with my parents and even eating the same foods I did as a child, so many memories began to fill my brain reminding me of how perfect life used to be. Throughout the conversation, Sebastian expressed what I’d been worried about too, it was clear from Patrick showing up who seems to be one of Alpha Stephen’s right-hand men, this place my father had built isn’t so secret anymore. With the fact of the trial coming up and my parents being two of the best possible witnesses we could find, Alpha Stephen to save his own back may send his men around to kill my parents so they can’t speak out. We believed it was better for their safety to return with us to the palace until this
The pounding of my heart soon slowed as the memories of all that man put me through for his own sick pleasure faded, my parents leading me back into their house while Sebastian continued to what I would assume, beat the life out of Patrick somewhere deep in the woods surrounding us. I sat where I seem to always find myself nowadays, sat in the chair of my mother's white piano, my mind a little numb and my body tired from all that had happened today. I had not only completed the mating process with Sebastian, but I’d watched Tristan beat the official, realised the book I had loved from childhood, Sebastian had which so happened to have the map leading us right to my parents. But now to have remembered a memory I’d forgot existed and having the man stand right in front of me, my body and emotions had been through so much, I just wanted to go to bed and sleep it all away. Through my thoughts, my mother walked from wherever she had gone and stood right beside the piano, a smile on her
With this new realisation that I was indeed right about my fear of being watched, Sebastian attempted to leave me stood in the house with my parents while he went to see who this individual the guards had found was. Even though being around whoever was in the trees who I will assume their intentions were anything, but kind scared me, being in this new environment without him even though it was my family, it allowed even more freight through me. Holding his hand so tightly when he went to leave, he stops in his tracks staring at my face a little, even though he had the power to rip his hand from mine with little to no effort, his thumb gently ran over my knuckles before I’m led back down the corridor of my parents house, Fletcher close behind while my family were too distracted in the kitchen to notice our absence. The moment the door was opened, and I’m taken back into the fresh air of the forest, that same feeling of dread and despair loomed over my body as though I was stood und
The moment I stepped through the threshold of my parent's new home, I was immediately hit with that same nostalgic feeling I had when I opened our family photo album. The style of their house was vastly different to the one back at Alpha Stephen’s pack, I had to assume it was because my father had designed and built this house rather than my mother, but it was the smell of the place that transported me back to when I was a young child standing in the hallway of our home, my safe haven. Closing the door behind us to keep whatever was looming outside there, Sebastian joins me in the hallway where I had paused staring around. With his hand on my lower back to offer me some comfort, he slowly leads me into the main section of their home where the rest of our group had accumulated. The layout of their living room slash kitchen area was very opened planned with huge windows looking out into the distance, this place must look beautiful whenever the sun sets or rises. A white piano stood
My heart went to my mouth the moment I heard the door open, I knew we’d have to go to the house in order to see if our parents were there, but I thought I had some moments before such an opportunity presented itself. I remained glued to my spot staring as the door opened wider, with each second, I couldn’t see who was stood on the other side, the faster my heart seemed to pound in my chest. What if this wasn’t our parents and I’d sent everyone on a wild goose chase? What if this is our parents but due to everything that’s happened, they don’t want to see me? All of my suspicions and concerns were stripped from my mind in a second as a woman emerges from the door looking over to Tristan with such shock. An instant rush of shock but also, somewhat relief creeped throughout my body as I clocked the woman’s face, stood before us was the older version of my mother. Tears in her eyes as she brought her shaky hand to her lips, Tristan seeming to join suit and stood frozen in his place st
