LOGINPain was all Bridget knew. For the past ten years of her life, a man she thought she could trust to have her back and protect her, was the one man who beat her mercilessly for the mistake that his own son made. Pulled away from her family and forced to become not only the Alpha’s slave but also his mute punching bag, Bridget believed this was all she was destined to have in life and pleaded for the day she’d die as release. But that all changed the day the highly respected and powerful Alpha King was set to visit their pack, with everyone distracted, Bridget took her chance and fled. Stopped by a border guard whose main objective was to kill her, that very same Alpha King who had intended to meet the Alpha, found Bridget instead. Realising this beautiful but mute woman in front of him was his mate, the Alpha King wasted not a moment killing the border guard and returning to his palace with Bridget beside him. Past enemies, gruesome memories and a crazed Alpha hoping to fully silence his once complicit slave, threatened to tear the pair apart, but for the Alpha King, Bridget was his to protect and he’d stop at nothing to keep it that way. Can Bridget put the fear of the past behind her and fully embrace her new life with her mate, or will she forever be silenced by the past? Read on to find out.
View More“Where are you?!” Alpha Stephen’s loud and dangerous voice bellows from the landing, his footsteps heavy allowing the worn wooded flooring to cry out in pain.
Scrambling to my feet in sheer panic, I bound towards my closed bedroom door, shock and absolute terror running through me as I took the handle into my small hands. I had accidentally, overslept and didn’t prepare the Alpha’s food in time. As I reach the corridor to the back rooms I have been forced to reside for many years, the dark presence of the man who causes me nothing, but pain and fear appeared at the very end of the corridor. His stance alone proved to me how angry he was, I hadn’t forgotten such a task in many years so my heart pounded in my chest worried I may have pushed him over the edge this time. “Where is my breakfast?!” He asked even louder than before as his steps drew closer to me, my breath coming out of my lips in fast motions, I knew better than to make direct eye contact, so my eyes rested on the floor. I believed my head was going to explode when this dangerous Alpha stopped right in front of me, his towering body pulling me to stand in his pitch-black shadow, my hands behind my back and eyes closed. “How dare you force me to wait!” He shouts so close to my ear that it began to hurt and ring, but that was the least of my troubles, bringing his fist up and sending a punch to my face, I land in a heap on the floor by his feet, my jaw instantly, felt as though it was close to breaking, like each other part of my body. “I thought the years of my beatings would have drummed this careless behaviour out of you, perhaps I’ve been slacking recently!” He continues to harass me as his foot with those awful expensive boots lifts up and kicks me in the stomach, even more pain rushes through me as I hold onto my injured stomach and force the sobs to stay at bay. But I didn’t have the time to nurse my wounds as my dark brown hair is grabbed into his fist and pulled sharply giving me no choice but to rise to my feet. With my hair still in his hands, Alpha Stephan begins to pull me down the corridor he had bounded down not moments before and out into the more populated areas of the pack house, a place deemed too good for me to stay in. Not a single pack member offered me assistance as I’m dragged through the lobby, some even spat in my direction and began to call me the vilest names possible, but names I had heard so many times the sting was less effective. I didn’t know why I always kept hoping somebody in this place would help me, the almost ten years of abuse from the Alpha and any other person bored at the time was more than enough time for a good samaritan to step in and stop it but deep down, it was all I’d pray for. After a few longer moments of silent pain, the doors to the private kitchen reserved for the Alpha and any other person he was to entertain fly open, the Alpha also sending me flying to the ground with a thump. “I expect my breakfast on the table in five minutes! If it is not there or up to my standards, I will ensure you choke on it!” He shouts staring down as I lay on the kitchen floor knowing better than to make any sudden moves when his eyes were on me, he will see it as my body not beaten enough and will ensure I felt his wrath. After shouting his orders at me, he walks back through the doors slamming it behind me, the empty kitchen I stand in for hours at a time dead silent. Placing my shaking hands down to rest on the black tiles of the floor, I use the little strength I held and pull my broken body to stand. Due to how hard he has grasped my hair, my head hurt and allowed a dizzy like spell to occur, the countertop being the object to stop me from tumbling down to the ground once again. “This isn’t fair Bridget; we don’t deserve to live like this!” My wolf whines in my head, she was the only thing to ever speak to me with kindness, my head no longer spinning allowing me to start my job and make the Alpha’s breakfast, hoping it was to a standard he’d appreciate. “I don’t have any other choice, if we make the Alpha wait any longer, the beating will happen again.” I replied in a panicked voice rushing over to the fridge and pulling out the ingredients I would need, I had planned what to make for him last night but due to my lateness, I hadn’t arrived in the kitchen on time. “Staying here can no longer be an option, that man will kill us before too long! We haven’t even found our mate yet!” She continued to exclaim repeating what she tells me whenever the Alpha beats me, which can sometimes be daily. “As I’ve told you before, we aren’t strong enough to leave this pack, we’ll be caught before we even reach the borders and who knows what the Alpha would do then! We have no other choice but to stay here.” I reply reaching over to retrieve one of the large carving knives from the block and pulling it into my hands, my eyes gaze over the sharp blade for a moment, my hands shaking as though they knew the way to get me out of this mess, but shaking my head and beginning the Alpha’s breakfast, I hoped I would get this done in time. Pushing the dining room door open with my foot while the food rested on the pristine white plates in my hands, the Alpha sat on his chair right at the head of the dining table. His face held anger and hatred as his eyes watched me hurry down the long table and place the food in front of him, my shaking hands hidden around my back as to not show my fear, he has broken many of the bones in my fingers when he saw such a sight. “Finally, it is only half an hour late!” He says with such anger in his voice as he lifts up his fork and takes a generous helping, my heart pounding in my chest as the food enters his mouth, I didn’t need another beating. “It is lucky this food is passable! Why do you always enjoy angering me, do you like my beatings?” He asks with a mouthful of food, if I wasn’t so terrified, the way the bacon poured from his mouth would have disgusted me. I never understand why the Alpha chooses to ask me such questions, he is very aware that I have not spoken a word for almost nine years, under his strict orders. My wolf is the only thing I speak to and that is with my mind, no one within this pack house but she has heard my voice in so long. Even when the Alpha’s beatings become deadly, no sounds leave my lips, my silent sobbing takes much of my time at night. “Now, instead of watching me eat, head into the kitchen and clean! I have a rather important guest attending lunch today and I expect to see that kitchen spic and span for the professionals to prepare our food. Understood?” He asked in another deadly tone placing more food in his mouth, with a nod of my head, I do as I’m told and hurry out of the dining room and back into the kitchen to clean. What I didn’t know in this moment, the Alpha’s special visitor, was about to change my entire life.We spent the next few moments flipping through the huge book which held all of our memories, most of which I had long forgotten. Not only due to me being small when many of these moments happened but with the abuse, it clouded most of my memories of that pack with the dark and horror filled evenings I would spend hiding away from each person that wanted to hurt me. Their taunts from down the corridor while I sat on my bed hugging my knees were instances, I may never forget, it was as though they were having a competition to see who could call me the worst names they could think of or who could allow me to feel the most fear. I had one small window that looked out into the pack house, there were many times I’d stand by that window willing myself to jump, finally, allow myself to be pain free. It was only my wolf which kept me from doing that very thing and launching myself. “I am glad you never did such a thing.” Sebastian’s voice soon invaded my brain through mind-link, it was cle
After around an hour of document signing and the pair having to explain more of the details surrounding being Queen and what that would entail, Sebastian had work he had to do alone with Fletcher at his desk, which gave me the time to do what I had wanted to since entering the office. As I sat in front of the piano, I allowed my hands to delicately press each key, more memories of the beautiful songs my mother would teach me when it was only her and I at home flowed through my hands. At first, I was a little hesitant to play as I didn’t want to interrupt the work Sebastian was doing, but he was sure to make it a point that my beautiful music allowed him a lovely backing track to his work and really helped him concentrate, this giving me a little more confidence to play. Since I’ve been able to sit down and play the piano again, I’ve started to feel the closest I ever have to my mother since they were banished. Getting the chance to play the songs she created when I was younger or
Once we had concluded our morning of unexpected events, we both walked hand in hand through the palace and towards Sebastian’s office, the smile that sat on his lips not faulting in the slightest as we walked down the very grand staircase in the lobby. I didn’t think Sebastian and I could grow even closer than we were before, he was truly the only man I trusted and the first person I had ever felt that much intense love for. But that was all until this morning, the way he was so concerned with me and how he did things so slowly as not to scare me, it truly allowed my heart to melt away, he was the only man I want to spend my life with, even the thought of being away from him for a second had the potential to break me down. I never thought I’d ever get the chance to meet him and now I have, I’m never letting him go. Each person we would pass on our journey would all stop and bow their heads towards us both, at first, I thought I was simply seeing things, they always bowed towards S
All I could do was stare at Sebastian as though he was speaking in some mystic language before my mind began to imagine what would need to happen to do such a thing, the position we had found ourselves in not days before playing out allowing my body to heat up and that roar in the pit of my stomach to ignite again. But in the middle of those thoughts, the deep fear of such a moment due to Duncan also gripped my mind, the same scene of him pinning me down on the bed, covering my mouth and telling me it’s what I wanted played out as though it was the next big movie out. The feeling of regret, shame and such fear and sadness joined suit with the showing and caused panic to set through me again. “I know baby, I can see it is something you are still not ready to do in this moment, and I do not want you to feel as though I am forcing you. If I would have known this would be the outcome for the invasion, I would have also postponed that.” Sebastian said with such guilt on his expression
The next morning, I awoke to a stream of light from the sun hitting my eyes from the balcony window, allowing me to squint a little in hopes of them adjusting to such a sight before I managed to look around the room. I was so exhausted last night after the party at Ryan’s pack that I didn’t even get changed out of my clothes, the beautiful belt that looked great with the outfit dug deeply into my skin. When I turned over in hopes of finding Sebastian laying beside me, I was met with nothing but a note on his side of the pillow looking back at me. With a hint of disappointment but also worry, I rub the sleep from my eyes and retrieve the note, which read. “I am sorry I was not there when you awoke, I have been pulled into an extremely early meeting this morning but did not want to wake you. Get ready and I will meet you back here when I have concluded, we have an important matter to discuss. All my love, Sebastian.” As I sat with the note on my lap, a smile filled my lips that
Once we finally made it back to the palace, it was extremely late, the halls much darker than usual with only a few lights littered on each wall allowing us a path. My head still lay on Sebastian’s chest as he guided me into the palace, it was such a perfect ending to what I have to say was such a great day. As we went to climb the first grand staircase to head to bed, a man dressed in a suit walks from one of the many rooms in the palace and rushes over to us. It was as though he’d been waiting all of this time for us to return and didn’t want to miss his chance. “Sir, I apologise for interrupting especially, at such a late hour but it is urgent that you and I talk.” He spoke, his expensive shoes tapping along the floor as he basically ran towards us, Sebastian turning to look at the individual with such annoyance. “It is extremely late, and I had stated that no correspondence was to be made with me until tomorrow, why do you deem it appropriate to break my order?” Sebastian as
