The same deafening silence which gripped the air was much more intense than I’d ever experienced, with all I had learnt in a matter of ten minutes, my mind hadn’t had the time to fully process it all.
A man I believed I would never have the chance to find due to the life I had been forced to live, was now stood right in front of me and was the the Alpha King! I kept asking myself if this was really happening and to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, but the many times I’d reach over and pinch myself, the pain indicated this was truly happening. My mate's stance hadn’t faulted in the slightest, even with the mental battle I was having in that moment, his hand remained outstretched and a tiny smile to help me see he was not going to harm me placed on those beautiful lips of his. He could see the many times he had walked towards me I’d jumped back in fear, so I believe he ensured to not move a muscle to give me time to walk towards him on my own accord. “Take his hand Bridget, this is exactly what we’ve been waiting for all of these years!” My wolf exclaimed in my head when I still didn’t go to reach my hand forward, even though my body was begging me to do that very thing. “But what if this is a trap, Justin told us in the kitchen what this King does?” I said in a fear full voice staring over at my mate who still didn’t move, but my wolf was sure to growl in my head. “He’s our mate Bridget! He will look after and protect us as like he had just done! Take his hand!” My wolf repeated her previous statement; her stance hadn’t changed around this man even though I was still beyond confused and alarmed. My breaths were short and sharp as my eyes drifted from his muscular hand which waved in the air, to his beautiful blue eyes that captivated me the moment we first locked eyes. Since my life turned deadly all of those years ago, I had never once felt safe, but when my eyes were on this man’s eyes, even though I didn’t know him, it was safety I felt, I needed him. Slowly reaching out my small hand in his direction, I watch the smile which sat on his face slowly widen as he watched me, my entire body still shook with fear and my eyes locked on his to ensure I wasn’t making a mistake, but with each centimetre I drew closer, all of that worry seemed to melt away. But the moment my tiny hand finally, touched his allowing our skin to make contact for the first time, the sheer warmth that radiated from him but also, a tidal wave of mesmerising sparks began to ripple through my arm. It was a sensation I had never experienced before but one I craved to continue from this moment on. His giant hand which had the ability to crush my tiny one in a matter of seconds and with little effort, gently interlocked our fingers together, his thumb slowly running over my skin, those same beautiful sparks leaving a trail each place he touched. My wolf purred in my head while I could only stare at our hands with even more shock, I had heard when you find your mate, the sparks you feel are beautiful, but I don’t believe I fully understood what they meant until now. “Well done little one, as I said, I am not here to harm you but the very opposite. From the state of your injuries and the way in which that diabolical Alpha spoke about you, this environment is not safe for you so as your mate, I am taking you back with me to my palace where I can ensure your safety.” His beautiful voice full of warmth and not the anger I am used to said, my eyes still locked with his that my mind didn’t have a chance to be worried about this, with his hand in mine, I wasn’t scared. “Allow me to guide you to my car.” He said ensuring to explain all that was happening so I wouldn’t worry before he slowly leads me back through the trees he had emerged from, the once scary woods not even the slightest hint dark now my mate held my hand. “This is happening!” My wolf cheered so happily in my mind as we are still guided through the trees, my mate looking down at me with a smile as our journey continued, I should have returned the favour, but I was still in a sense of shell shock. Before I knew it, four black cars sat in the middle of the main road that led deep into the pack came into view, the biggest one in the centre had its back door wide open, the red interior looked beyond comfortable but also, wildly expressive. Whoever exited this car, was in such a rush that they forgot to close it after them. “This is my car; I will aid you to climb in the back if needed.” My mate once again smiles as we come to a stop beside the vehicle, the smell of the fresh leather filling my nostrils in that moment as the driver in the front stared ahead to not look at me. Lifting my leg up to begin to climb inside the vehicle, I couldn’t stifle the slight whine that left my lips once the pain in my stomach and ribs erupted from the movements I was making. Due to my pain, my mate moves in closer his hand now on my waist a little as he guided me slowly into the car, clear anger on his face when I whined a little more as I glided across the seats to reach the other side. The pain allowing me to somewhat not register the hand placement. “We will need to have your injuries assessed by a doctor once we return.” He expressed once I was fully in the car, the seats the most comfortable thing my body has come in contact with for many years, even my bed in the box room held many springs that poked and prodded me whenever I attempted to have sleep. But the moment he spoke about a doctor and someone touching me, I couldn’t hide the fear that sat on my face, the shaking of my hands which had somewhat subsided the moment his hand was in mine, began again, which my mate could see in that moment. “Please do not worry little mate, not a single person you come in contact with in my palace will ever cause you harm, I simply want to ensure you are well, you can trust me.” He smiles getting into the car himself where his door is swiftly closed for him and others climb into the cars that sat around us. Once his body leant forward to grasp my seatbelt, I was forced to take in a deep breath of air the moment his body brushed against mine, his mouthwatering scent filling my nostrils in that moment pulling me deeper into his spell. The way his hands glided so close to my body as he gently placed my seatbelt around me allowed a rush of adrenaline through my body, the way my wolf acted seemed to validate the feelings. “Are you comfortable?” He asked with a smile adjusting the seatbelt so it wouldn’t dig into my neck, the moment his fingers brushed the bare skin of my neck, it only excited my wolf that much more. Sending him a nod of my head confirming I was okay, the breathtaking smile I could gaze at every moment graced his lips once again as the cars beside him seemed to turn and drive away from the pack and out towards the borders. Staring out of the window as we passed the border guards, my body filled with that same adrenaline but not due to my mate touching me but the realision that I was truly leaving the place I had been imprisoned for so many years. Such a weight lifted off my shoulders the moment we exited Alpha Stephen’s territory, and my wolf howled in my head full of happiness and joy. “We’re free Bridget! We’re finally free!” She cheered so happily in my mind as I watched the trees whizz past the window the further away, we came. But as I turned my head away from the window and towards my mate who sat a seat away, I couldn’t quite believe what was happening. Quickly turning my head to look away from him once again before we could make eye contact, I saw a smile grace his lips. Am I finally free?My eyes remained glued to the window and the beautiful scenery we would pass, due to Alpha Stephen’s abuse I was hardly ever allowed to leave the pack house let alone the pack! I hadn’t been able to see nature for so long, so sitting in the car watching the world go by, it was as though I was in some kind of strange world I’d been hidden from for years. Every few moments, I would catch my mate looking over to me staring out of the window, a smile on his lips each time he’d face me. I saw each time but out of fear and what Alpha Stephen was sure to teach me, I keep my eyes away from his to not cause any aggression. I believed I had seen all the most beautiful landscapes I could on our journey, but the moment a gigantic but beautiful palace came to view once we turned a corner, my mouth hung open from absolute shock and amazement. The palace stood on a cliff like section which looked out into the sea below, the stones a flush white colour while the roof with the turrets were a lig

I didn’t dare to move a single muscle as I sat at the base of the tree, my entire body filled with such differing emotions due to all I had just witnessed. While my mate, turned from staring at the now dead border guard and took a step towards me but because of who I was and what I’d just seen, I couldn’t help but crawl backwards a little out of pure terror, such a movement my mate didn’t seem to like. “You do not need to fear me; I would never hurt you.” His deep voice which sounded heavenly to me spoke, his tone causing shivers to run down my spine and my wolf to also grow excited. My eyes soon locked on his once again where I was taken right back to the feeling of calm, my body now craving to feel this man and have his aura engulf me. But the moment a certain Alpha bounded from the trees to witness the scene in front of him, terror rippled through me but this time, I knew it was better I was on my feet. “Sir, I did not expect for you to enter through this section of my pack,
Not having enough time to fully prepare my escape, I open the only box I have with some of my most valuable possessions and take out the golden chain given to me by the only person who cared for me in the end. With a single tear rolling down my cheek, I place the chain around my neck and stare at myself in the broken mirror I had found one morning and snuck up here. My eyes leaked with tears while my jaw from the hit Alpha Stephen had dealt me this morning began to turn black and blue from the forming bruise. My wolf was right, I couldn’t live like this anymore and had to at least try to escape, with a deep breath of air to help calm my nerves, I turn to face my door which had blocked many attacks and verbal assaults over the years and walk out into the battlefield, it was time to try and escape. Due to the importance of the individual that was joining the Alpha for lunch, each person seemed to busily walk around the pack house ensuring all things were up to stranded that no one s
Spending the next few hours wiping down each and every surface, cleaning the cutlery so it shone and even taking the liberty to clean the window which looked out into the side of the pack house, I stood in the middle of the kitchen reviewing my work. I had much experience dealing with these professional cooks the Alpha had mentioned, whenever an important individual arrives to speak with the Alpha, they take over cooking. But they are very much like each other person that dwells in this pack, they hate me as much as everyone else so will do what they can to have the Alpha beat me. This meant I knew if the kitchen did not glisten, they would report back to Alpha Stephen that I’d been slacking off and watch as he dealt me my punishment, with smirks on their faces. So, when Justin, one of those professional cooks walked into the kitchen, I lower my head down to stare at the floor while placing the cleaning supplies back into the cupboard out of sight, I didn’t need to give this man a
“Where are you?!” Alpha Stephen’s loud and dangerous voice bellows from the landing, his footsteps heavy allowing the worn wooded flooring to cry out in pain. Scrambling to my feet in sheer panic, I bound towards my closed bedroom door, shock and absolute terror running through me as I took the handle into my small hands. I had accidentally, overslept and didn’t prepare the Alpha’s food in time. As I reach the corridor to the back rooms I have been forced to reside for many years, the dark presence of the man who causes me nothing, but pain and fear appeared at the very end of the corridor. His stance alone proved to me how angry he was, I hadn’t forgotten such a task in many years so my heart pounded in my chest worried I may have pushed him over the edge this time. “Where is my breakfast?!” He asked even louder than before as his steps drew closer to me, my breath coming out of my lips in fast motions, I knew better than to make direct eye contact, so my eyes rested on the flo
