I didn’t dare to move a single muscle as I sat at the base of the tree, my entire body filled with such differing emotions due to all I had just witnessed. While my mate, turned from staring at the now dead border guard and took a step towards me but because of who I was and what I’d just seen, I couldn’t help but crawl backwards a little out of pure terror, such a movement my mate didn’t seem to like.

“You do not need to fear me; I would never hurt you.” His deep voice which sounded heavenly to me spoke, his tone causing shivers to run down my spine and my wolf to also grow excited.

My eyes soon locked on his once again where I was taken right back to the feeling of calm, my body now craving to feel this man and have his aura engulf me. But the moment a certain Alpha bounded from the trees to witness the scene in front of him, terror rippled through me but this time, I knew it was better I was on my feet.

“Sir, I did not expect for you to enter through this section of my pack, what has happened?” Alpha Stephan asks as I use the tree I had been thrown against to aid me in my painful journey to get to my feet, my ribs hurt from the many hits I had taken today.

But Alpha Stephan’s confusion was soon replaced with anger and disgust when his eyes went from the dead border guard and over to me, fresh wounds on my face but also, stood so close to the border.

“I must apologise sir if that disgusting animal over there has caused you any issues, do not worry, I will see to it that she is properly handled.” The Alpha growls talking towards the man before me but his eyes not leaving me, as my eyes dropped to the floor as they always did as I shook with fear, I knew what he meant by handled and I worried that now I had pushed it this far, I was to end up like the man laying on the ground, why did I try to run?!

Another deep growl seemed to follow after the Alpha’s comment, this not only taking me off guard but also, Alpha Stephan as he looked towards the man with a shocked expression, even if he was trying to hide it.

“How dare you speak of her in such a vile and hateful manner, you must count your blessings that I do not begin to rip you apart as like I have done to your disrespectful border guard who tried his luck.” The man growled in such a low and anger filled voice, the beautiful one I had heard moments before seemed to no longer exist, as he takes his foot and kicks the dead man, who rolled closer to the Alpha.

“With respect sir, my border guard was simply doing his job, ensuring that thing could not leave my borders. You, I order you go back to the pack house and wait for my arrival.” The Alpha defended the dead man before his cold and deadly eyes land on me, my heart dropping once I realised what was about to happen, as I went to take a step forward and do what the Alpha said, the man’s deep voice spoke once again stopping me in my tracks.

“I will not tell you a second time Alpha Stephan, speak to her in that manner again, I will sever your tongue from your mouth and force it down your throat! I was under the assumption that the disrespect was simply contained to this one individual, but from your blatant disregard for orders from your King, I can see the disrespect is universal.” The man spoke holding his arm out in my path so I couldn’t go to walk by, but when he uttered the word King, fear now rippled through me as the words of Justin rung in my mind.

“My pack is one of the most respected around sir, I understand that you are not familiar with this individual but with if were, you would understand why my pack treat her the way we do. Now with that being said, I gave you an order and as your Alpha who owns you, I demand you listen.” The Alpha says as though he was defending his case before he turns back to me, the anger in his face was the same as the day everything changed so I knew if I didn’t listen, things would not turn out well.

“She will do nothing of the sort! You do not own her Alpha Stephan, she is my mate, so if anybody was to own her, it would be ME. She is to remain by me regardless; of orders you wish to give her. If you dare take another step, I will rip you apart.” The King spits right at Alpha Stephen, his body now placed in front of mine to fully block my path, even though I knew he was my mate; to hear him say the words, I was in shock all over again.

But I was not the only person in the vicinity that was in shock, Alpha Stephen could only look between me and the man I now know as the King with utter surprise and a hint of suspicion on his face. I don’t believe any of us thought I would be able to have a mate especially, when I am in my room or cooking for the Alpha, but now to see him stood in front of me and the Alpha King, that was beyond anything we could imagine.

“I do not wish to tell you how to live sir but as I have stated, I have more experience with this individual and I must warn you, she will not be a good fit for you, it would be in your better interests to reject her.” Alpha Stephen said after taking a moment to gather his thoughts, but as soon as he spoke those words, such deep sadness spread through me while my wolf growled so angrily in my head now this man was trying to keep us away from our mate.

“It’s lucky he prevented me from using all my power or I’d tear him apart!” She growls so angrily in my head staring at Alpha Stephen, but she was not the only one growling, my mate seemed to share the same sentiment.

“How dare you! She is my mate, I do not care what you seek she is a good fit for, she belongs to me! And you are correct Alpha, you do not have the right to tell me what decisions I make, I am the King, not you!” He growls taking a dangerous and anger filled step towards Alpha Stephen, who didn’t seem to know when to not talk as he threw his hand forward to point at me.

“She doesn’t even speak sir; she hasn’t uttered a single word in years! If I were you-.” Alpha Stephan began to try and convince this man of what decision to take, but the King was quick to cut him off.

“Then I believe it is a good thing that you are not, as I have stated, I do not care what you believe is the correct decision, this woman is my mate, whether she speaks or not, that fact will never change.” The King growls setting some of the facts straight for Alpha Stephan, but his words allowed tears to begin to prick my eyes, no one has wanted me for so long, I was always seen as an inconvenience but now this man wants me, I felt my heart pound even louder in my chest.

“With the events that have expired here, I believe it will be in my mates' best interests for me to take her back to the palace immediately.” The King said now turning his head to look at me, but as Alpha Stephen had taught me, my eyes trained to the floor the moment he turned his head.

“But the meeting-.” The Alpha once again went to stop the King but was met with the same response as he turned to look back at the Alpha.

“Such a meeting with who I have just found is no longer important, I will have my Beta arrange another at my earliest convenience. Now, I order you to take this disgusting beast out of my mate's vision and explain to his family the behaviour that led to such a death.” The King demanded picking up the dead border guard and throwing his body at Alpha Stephan, who stumbled a little but managed to regain his footing holding the dead man’s body.

“GO!” The King’s loud voice demanded with such power once the Alpha went to protest once again, as it was an order, Alpha Stephan had no other choice but to bow his head and drag the border guard away, from his walk, I could see it was a task he did not want to fullfil.

The moment Alpha Stephen was out of sight; the King turns his head to look over to me with a much softer expression whilst all I could do was cower away a little. Even though he had saved me from that man and spoke about protecting me, due to all I have been through, I didn’t trust anyone anymore. So, when he went to take a step forward, I jumped away a little, my entire body shaking with fear.

“Please do not fear me little mate, as I stated to the Alpha, you are my mate and I swear with all that I am, I will never harm you. Allow me to take you back where it is safe.” His voice which once held anger and power spoke so softly to me, his muscular hand outstretched in my direction as though he wanted me to take it.

Was I going to allow this man to get me back with me?

My eyes remained glued to the window and the beautiful scenery we would pass, due to Alpha Stephen’s abuse I was hardly ever allowed to leave the pack house let alone the pack! I hadn’t been able to see nature for so long, so sitting in the car watching the world go by, it was as though I was in some kind of strange world I’d been hidden from for years. Every few moments, I would catch my mate looking over to me staring out of the window, a smile on his lips each time he’d face me. I saw each time but out of fear and what Alpha Stephen was sure to teach me, I keep my eyes away from his to not cause any aggression. I believed I had seen all the most beautiful landscapes I could on our journey, but the moment a gigantic but beautiful palace came to view once we turned a corner, my mouth hung open from absolute shock and amazement. The palace stood on a cliff like section which looked out into the sea below, the stones a flush white colour while the roof with the turrets were a lig

The same deafening silence which gripped the air was much more intense than I’d ever experienced, with all I had learnt in a matter of ten minutes, my mind hadn’t had the time to fully process it all. A man I believed I would never have the chance to find due to the life I had been forced to live, was now stood right in front of me and was the the Alpha King! I kept asking myself if this was really happening and to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, but the many times I’d reach over and pinch myself, the pain indicated this was truly happening. My mate's stance hadn’t faulted in the slightest, even with the mental battle I was having in that moment, his hand remained outstretched and a tiny smile to help me see he was not going to harm me placed on those beautiful lips of his. He could see the many times he had walked towards me I’d jumped back in fear, so I believe he ensured to not move a muscle to give me time to walk towards him on my own accord. “Take his hand Bridget, this is ex

Not having enough time to fully prepare my escape, I open the only box I have with some of my most valuable possessions and take out the golden chain given to me by the only person who cared for me in the end. With a single tear rolling down my cheek, I place the chain around my neck and stare at myself in the broken mirror I had found one morning and snuck up here. My eyes leaked with tears while my jaw from the hit Alpha Stephen had dealt me this morning began to turn black and blue from the forming bruise. My wolf was right, I couldn’t live like this anymore and had to at least try to escape, with a deep breath of air to help calm my nerves, I turn to face my door which had blocked many attacks and verbal assaults over the years and walk out into the battlefield, it was time to try and escape. Due to the importance of the individual that was joining the Alpha for lunch, each person seemed to busily walk around the pack house ensuring all things were up to stranded that no one s

Spending the next few hours wiping down each and every surface, cleaning the cutlery so it shone and even taking the liberty to clean the window which looked out into the side of the pack house, I stood in the middle of the kitchen reviewing my work. I had much experience dealing with these professional cooks the Alpha had mentioned, whenever an important individual arrives to speak with the Alpha, they take over cooking. But they are very much like each other person that dwells in this pack, they hate me as much as everyone else so will do what they can to have the Alpha beat me. This meant I knew if the kitchen did not glisten, they would report back to Alpha Stephen that I’d been slacking off and watch as he dealt me my punishment, with smirks on their faces. So, when Justin, one of those professional cooks walked into the kitchen, I lower my head down to stare at the floor while placing the cleaning supplies back into the cupboard out of sight, I didn’t need to give this man a

“Where are you?!” Alpha Stephen’s loud and dangerous voice bellows from the landing, his footsteps heavy allowing the worn wooded flooring to cry out in pain. Scrambling to my feet in sheer panic, I bound towards my closed bedroom door, shock and absolute terror running through me as I took the handle into my small hands. I had accidentally, overslept and didn’t prepare the Alpha’s food in time. As I reach the corridor to the back rooms I have been forced to reside for many years, the dark presence of the man who causes me nothing, but pain and fear appeared at the very end of the corridor. His stance alone proved to me how angry he was, I hadn’t forgotten such a task in many years so my heart pounded in my chest worried I may have pushed him over the edge this time. “Where is my breakfast?!” He asked even louder than before as his steps drew closer to me, my breath coming out of my lips in fast motions, I knew better than to make direct eye contact, so my eyes rested on the flo
