“I don't have many details right now, but I promise to tell you everything when I do,” Kaylee proceeded with those words. “But be careful, Haylee.”

That was one warning I couldn't brush aside even after I left the room, with Flavia walking beside me. I was lost in thought, but before we could make it out of the healers' building, we ran into Gladys.

Gladys's eyes widened, relief glinting in her eyes.

She then breathed, “I was on my way to find you in the palace, Queen Haylee.” I didn't miss the small bow of her head after she said those words.

I would have told her to wait until coronation before calling me queen or bowing like that, but curiosity got the best of me, and I chimed, “Why is that?”

Her eyes shifted around the hallway, and even though there was no one around, she urged Flavia and me to follow her to a private healing ward. Gladys didn’t start talking until she closed the door behind us.
