Lord Xander was the ruler of the popular Xander community. He was fierce, cold evil and heartless - so many people believed. He was one of the most skillful in sword fights and Xander could fight a hundred men alone and come out victorious - that was just how powerful he was. If Xander wasn't in a battle field, he was in the training ground. If Xander wasn't killing someone, he was definitely watching a person get punished. That was his daily routine. That was the only pleasure he enjoyed. People feared and respected him so much. They worshipped the ground he stepped on. Even when he was wrong, nobody dared to correct him or say a word to him. Though, he wasn't a King but just a Master of a community, people felt he was more powerful than 10 Kings put together. He's been married to two ladies previously, but they all ended up dead - due to Unknown reasons. The community needed an heir and so, Xander had to get married to another wife - a third wife. And unfortunately, it turned out to be a stubborn princess who swore to do everything in her power to make sure he divorces her.

"Of course! Stop asking me" Kaylan replied in a husky whisper.
"For the first time, I pleaded with someone not to report me to my mother, but the dump man still went ahead to paint me black. So, he needs to pay".
Jaden sighed, knowing she wouldn't be able to change her best friend's mind.
Kaylan looked left and right again, and when she confirmed there was no one watching, she stood up and tip-toed out of the bush.
Philip's little house was right in front of her and his tables of fruits were well arranged, drawing her attention. Well, that was exactly what she was heading for.
He was actually a fruit seller and she figured it must've taken him a lot of efforts to arrange those, but hell, she didn't care. He was a wicked man and needed to be thought a lesson.
She got to where the table and with a little effort, she pushed it down, making the fruits roll over on the floor.
Philip came out of the house immediately and his eyes dilated in shock when he found his table of fruits rolling on the floor.
"What?" He flinched.
"Princess Kaylan?! Princess Kaylan?!"
Kaylan giggled and without much hesitation, picked two apples from the floor and ran back to the bush.
"Here. Let's go" she gave one of the apples to Jaden and they started running away immediately.
"Hey! Stop right there!! How dare you?!" Philip called out ran after them, but they were way faster than him. So, he couldn't catch up with them.
Kaylan and Jaden laughed as they ran heavily and only stopped when they sure Philip wasn't after them anymore.
"Oh my God! You're such a badass, Kaylan!" Jaden laughed so hard as they both fell on the floor, resting their back against the wall.
"Well, yes. That man is so mean. The very day I'd gotten to know he'd beaten up his wife and chased her out of the house over a minor argument, that was the moment my hatred from him increased. Big fat fool" Kaylan snapped and took a huge bite from her apple
And so did Jaden.
"Whatever, Kaylan. Your father's warned you to stop causing trouble around. How were you able to leave the palace alone, anyway? I thought he's assigned some guards to you?" Jaden asked.
"Well, I offered them drinks. But unknown to them, the drinks were poisoned" she paused and giggled. "They're fast asleep in my room at the moment".
"What the...Are you kidding me, Kaylan?"
They both busted into hearty laughter.
"Sometimes, I wonder if you're truly a princess".
"Oh, please! To hell with royalty. It's boring" she rolled her eyes.
"Do you know what my plans are?" She paused and took another huge bite from her apple.
"In a short time from now, I'll run away from home. I'll go far to a place where I can live the kind of life I want - as a free lady. I'll make sure father doesn't get to know of my location so he doesn't bother me with his boring queries" she rolled her eyes.
"Huh? Are you kidding me? What about your mother?" Jaden nudged her.
"Oh... That's true. Mother would never agree to go with me" she placed her hand on her jaw in thoughts.
"Anyway, I'll definitely think of something" she concluded and continued eating her apple.
Ahhh! If she had known, she'd had taken more than two.
"By the way, Kaylan. I overheard my father discussing with one of the King's cabinet this morning" Jaden said after a few seconds.
"They said...Master Xander's cabinet is looking for a bride for him. They had actually requested for one from your father, but your father turned them down, saying he couldn't marry any of his daughters off to someone like Xander"
"Hold on" Kalyan clicked her tongue. "Xander is that cruel Master, right? Who's lost 2 wives?"
"Yes, yes. Exactly".
"Huh? So, he's looking for another wife?"
"Well, Personally, Xander wouldn't want a wife. But having an heir is important to the community. So, he needs to. He isn't even making any efforts about it as his cabinets have been the ones doing the search".
"Oh..."
Kaylan turned back to eat her apples.
"What happened to his late wives, anyway?" Sbe asked.
"Well, I don't know. Nobody does and I guess it's a mystery. But that Xander is really cute. Just that...he's very mean. I heard his people are extremely scared of him. And I heard he's never lost a battle. He's a very powerful man". Jaden enthused.
"Oh! Whatever. Why did father turn down his reauesty, anyway? He should've married Rebecca to him. That witch deserves to be with a devil"
"What? You're unbelievable, Kaylan" Jaden nudged her and they bursted into laughter.
"Well, despite how Popular and powerful Xander was, people are still scared to marry their daughtets out to him. I heard before his previous wives died, he was very mean to them and never showed love to them - not even for once. That man is really scary, you know? Most people nickname him - the handsome devil" Jaden paused and giggled.
"Anyway, I hope for the..."
"There they are! Get down!" They suddenly heard a voice and turned to see Philip running towards them with some boys.
"What?? Kaylan!" Jaden exclaimed and they sprang on their feet immediately and started running away.
"Make sure you get them! I need those brats alive!" Philip roared in anger as the boys ran ahead of him.
Oh! He really couldn't wait to lay his hands on them - especially the princess
Kaylan and Jaden actually found it amusing as they kept running away from the boys.
They ran into the market place, accidentally ruining people's goods as they bumped into them.
"Oh! Good heavens!
"What Is happening?"
Some of the market women flinched as their goods came crashing to the floor.
"Sorry..!"
"I'm so sorry..!
"Excuse me...!"
The two ladies apologized and giggled as they ran away.
They bumped into a paint man and different colors of paint got poured on their faces - especially Kaylan.
Hers was from her hair to her legs.
"Oh my God! Kaylan, you look like a clown!" Jaden laughed so hard at her.
"They're coming. Come on!" Kaylan urged and they continued running.
Finally, they stopped running when they ran into a carriage.
The rest of the people around were actually standing aside with their heads bowed, but Kaylan and Jaden were too overwhelmed and by the time they could notice, they were already standing in front of the Royal carriage.
"Oh-oh" Jaden shook her head and took some steps back when she realized it was the King!
The King was sitting on one of the horses and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw his daughter, looking like a local tout.
And unfortunately, it was too late for Kaylan to run away.
Kaylan's hand cupped the bottom of her protruding belly as she stared at the face she's been longing to see.Her mother held her shoulder, guarded her to one of the royal seats.Xander's eyes followed their every move, his eyes particularly on Kaylan. It took him all the self-control in his body, not to stand up and pull Kaylan into his arms. He took his eyes somewhere else, willing himself to stay put, at least, till the end of the ceremony.Kaylan on the other hand couldn't sit still. She moved her legs about, her hands clutching the hem of her dress nervously."Are you okay, my darling?" Queen Hapitha who was sitting beside her asked."Xander is here, mom. He didn't even smile at me." Kaylan was close to tears.Queen Hapitha smiled and squeezed her hand. "The ceremony is on, Kaylan. Give him a break, I'm sure he will come around."Kaylan nodded and sighed softly. She glanced at Xander and saw him speaking to someone beside him. Few hours later, it was time to dance and that was w
***SOME MONTHS LATER*** Lord Xander came out of his room, fully dressed for his outing. Axel and Davie, his newest personal guard stood side by side by the door, ready to escort him to the carriage. He took the stairs gently, lifting his black long cloak slightly. He looked up and saw his Aunt, Madam Nadine, waiting for him. He stared at her for a while, looked away as he got closer. "Is everything ready for my journey?" "Yes, my Lord. Are you okay?" Madam Nadine asked, looking straight into the young man's face. Xander breathed in and stared down, he shook his head and stared back at the old lady. He would be lying if he told her he was fine. No. He was not. He was greatly disturbed. Frustrated, but then, he was tired of keeping everything to himself, he was tired of not having anyone to tell his mind. "Xander...you know you can always talk to me." Madam Nadine said, hoping he would not shone her away. "It's been five months without her, and it seems like eternity." Xander sa
King Moreh sat on his bed, scrolls scattered all over his sides. He dropped the one in his hands and picked another one, going through them carefully. The Queen walked in, a huge smile on her face as she walked towards the king. "My king, don't you think the study will be more convenient for you?" She asked, staring at the scrolls."Oh. It's a little bit hot in there. I'm okay here, I just need to search for a very important letter." King Moreh replied and briefly looked up. Realising how happy the queen appeared, he stared back at her. "You look so bright this morning, Hapitha compared to the other days." The king pointed out.The queen smiled and nodded. "I should be happy, my daughter is coming home after so many months away from us.""She's only coming to visit." The king replied, taking his eyes back to his scrolls. The queen looked at him and shook her head. "I know you miss her too, my king. It's all over your face. I can't wait to see her too." The king nodded, he put away h
"I can't do it, I won't do it." She mumbled.Xander let go of her and stepped back. "I won't allow you stay here and watch you die."Kaylan looked back at him, calmly now and nodded. "Yeah. I can't stay here either, knowing you'd never care for me nor the baby during the time I will carry he or her in my womb. I'd rather take the trip to my Kingdom and stay there for a while. I will give you sometime to calm down.""You think I will ever calm down knowing I will probably not see you again?" Xander retorted coldly, walking to the window.Kaylan watched him as he moved to the window and sighed. "I'm not gonna die.""Yes you are, so far you want to have that child." Xander replied, staring out of the window. Kaylan could see he was hurt but there was nothing she could do. Killing her own baby would be the last thing she'd ever have to do in her life. Slowly, she turned and left the room without glancing back.Xander turned and stared at the door. He walked back to the bed, sat down and
Xander stood in front of the door, arms folded. He continued staring at Kaylan until she was done.Kaylan turned and flinched slightly when she saw him standing there, looking at her. "You scared me.""What's wrong?" Xander asked calmly."Nothing. I will be fine." Kaylan said and hurried past him.Xander followed her back into the room, still staring at her. "You are not fine. Look how white and skinny you've become. What's...?" Xander stopped talking and sighed. "Axel. Come in here." He called, his eyes still on Kaylan.Axel came in immediately and bowed as he stood before Xander. "You called for me, my Lord.""Call in the royal physician immediately. Tell him to leave whatever he's doing right now and come up here." Xander ordered with his usual cold voice, still maintaining eye contact with his wife.Kaylan's lips slightly parted as she stared back at Xander. It was very obvious she was scared. It was written all over her face.Axel left the room immediately to carry out the order
Kaylan stayed awake all through the night, contemplating on what Xander had said. He sounded so serious that she was a super scared. She touched her stomach and stared down.No pregnancy? For the rest of her life? No.She couldn't live like that, she wouldn't be able to."Why aren't you sleeping?"Kaylan jolted as soon as Xander's voice was heard. She turned and saw him staring at her."I couldn't sleep." She mumbled a reply."Why?" Silence."Answer me, Kaylan." Xander demanded. "I'm protecting you from what I know might happen. What do you want? To leave me here and die?"Kaylan looked sharply at him. "But...what are you talking about? The curse has been broken. What are you afraid of?""Come." Xander whispered, stretching his hand toward her.Kaylan sighed and took it, moving closer to him. Xander hugged her to himself, closing his eyes."Sleep. Sleep, my princess." He said in a soothing voice.Kaylan couldn't object not say anything. She slowly closed her eyes and slept off.**
