CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Michael’s POV

“So what happened?” I finally said when she went quiet for a longer time. I was shaking in my seat. She had to do all that with Dylan. At some point, I wished she was not having my child. Just maybe she wouldn’t have gone through all these.

“I had to kill him; I could not sleep with him,” she said with a small smile, which was a miserable excuse for a smile.

“And you were without a job again?” and she nodded. “With Dylan,” she nodded, laughing. I could see the tears in her eyes. She was hastily drying her tears.

"Nora,” she said, looking up at me. I smiled at her. "Please, you don’t have to suppress your emotions in my presence, okay?” She gave me a better smile and nodded. I went to the fridge and poured her a glass of orange juice.

"Here.” I handed it over to her.

“Thank you, M." I snapped my head at her. What did she just call me? That had been a name I thought I had forgotten. Mom always called me that.

“You’re welcome.” This time, my smile turned into a full-blown g
