Moon’s pov

I hated lying to Mary, but I couldn’t tell her the truth. She was already scared, and if I told her what the tea was for, then she’d be freaking out even more. And if it didn’t work, she could just go on without ever regretting Diego not being her second mate. She wouldn’t know. And if it did work, they’d be second mates, and they’d figure it out. If I had given her the choice, she would have said no.

"Are you preparing excuses in case she gets mad?" Angela asked.

I was. I knew it wasn’t fair of me to do something behind Mary’s back. I told her she could trust me and I was giving her a weird ass tea that would reveal her second mate. I just prayed that if they were second mates, she wouldn’t be mad at me for lying. I hated lying.
