MasukIt was dark again when I woke up. The pain that coursed through me was unlike any other. I instinctively traced my fingers across my neck, resting them on the part Alpha Henry had bitten.
"He marked me as his mate?!" I whispered to myself as I sat on my knees, the coldness emanating from the floors and the enclosed walls, made my body weak.
There was a moist feeling between my legs that made the inside feel very sticky. I shifted and slowly reached down, raising my clothes to reveal my inner thighs but there was nothing much that I could see save for pitch black.
The only way to know what was down there was to smell it. Carefully, I rubbed my fingers against my inner thighs, bringing them up slowly to my nose to inhale the scent, and the metallic smell of blood hit me.
My blood went cold. The Alpha hadn't forced himself on him, had he?!
The walls felt as though they were closing in on me.
It all made sense to me now. What Luna Chrysantha had said about me bearing the Alpha's pups came crashing down on me like a torrent.
"Dear goddess, I need to leave this place now!" I struggled to get up to my feet—using my hands as a guide to see what was in front of me.
My heart palpitated when I finally found the door's knob after minutes of searching. Slowly, I twisted the knob.
It was.....unlocked?!
The beating inside my chest increased.
What the hell were these people's intentions for me? They couldn't have thrown me in here only to keep the door unlocked.
But I knew I had to act fast. My heart thundered as my bare foot slapped against the cold stone floors of the dungeon's passage.
The freedom I felt after I stepped out was intoxicating, and I could taste it with every frantic breath.
I darted through a narrow corridor, desperate to find the exit. Instead, I stumbled into a vast chamber filled with golden Torchlight.
The heavy doors creaked as I pushed them open. I was wary of its occupancy until I'd opened them completely and the voices inside fell silent.
My stomach dropped like a stone, and my legs turned into jelly beneath me, sending me crashing onto the floor in a helpless heap.
There was a high council sitting in a semi-circle, and at the head of the chamber sat Luna Chrysantha. She was draped in silks of midnight blue. Her eyes were cold and they looked like venomous emeralds—locking onto me with a fury that she couldn't hide.
And by her side sat Alpha Henry. His face broke into a devilish grin the moment he saw. I'd never wished for death all my life more than I wished for it now.
"Elara!" Chrysantha's voice cut through the air like a knife. "How fitting of you to stumble upon your own death sentence."
The blood from my face had drained.
One of the elders slammed his staff into the floor, "She is already carrying the Alpha's seeds, I don't see how her existence will threaten the unity of the pack!"
His words rang in my ear like a bell. I was carrying the Alpha's children?
I held my stomach instinctively and went to my knees. My lips parted, trembling.
"Your majesty, please. I have done nothing to deserve this kind of life...."
"I'm just an orphaned omega struggling to make ends meet. I will never...."
"Enough!" Chrysantha thundered, silencing me.
"Do you think your womb gives you power?!" She asked me, but I had no idea what she was talking about.
From the previous events that had happened, I could only deduce that I had been kidnapped against my will to bear pups for the alpha because it was rumored that Luna Chrysantha was barren.
But why choose me... Of all the other females in the pack, I am the most unworthy. I don't even have my wolf yet, which makes me different from the pack.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Chrysantha place her arm on Alpha Henry's, and with a smile on her face, she let out, "If you love your Luna and you truly love your pack, you will prove it. End her, Henry. " With her elongated claw pointed at me.
My eyes widened in shock. 'Oh moon goddess, I can't die this way. Why has my life been filled with only misfortune?'
The Alpha's jaw tightened and slowly, he rose from his throne and began walking towards me.
I stumbled back, trying to get away. This cannot be the end for me.
"Your majesty, I beg of you....do..do..do not kill me!" I cried out, my face wet with tears and sweat.
He had closed the distance between us and holding my chin firmly. Our eyes locked.
His lips were moving but I couldn't make out any words of what he was saying.
"Chrysantha doesn't know it but it was my sole decision to pick you to carry my pups." He started, caressing my wet jaw with his thumb.
Even though I knew Alpha Henry was going to kill me, the look in his eyes said something different. When his fingers traced the lines across my chin, a spark ignited inside me, heat flooding in between my legs.
What was happening to me? Why would I crave him now when every moment could be my last?!
Was it madness that made me inch closer, longing for the feel of his lips on mine? Was it the mating mark he had etched deep into my neck ?... No, it couldn't be; I had no wolf, marking me as a mate would be impossible.
Yet, something inside me was drawn to him, like he was all I needed to survive. My voice trembled as I whispered to him, "Please don't kill me."
As soon as those words departed my lips, another smile spread across his face.
"It's Chrysantha's wish that I get rid of all my prospective mates." He whispered back and revealed his sharp index claw to me.
He traced it slightly and rested it just above my heart. I whimpered when suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my heart and everything went pitch black.
Elara's POV Damion's lips curled into a cold smile. The lunar fire dancing around him brightened, crackling against his skin as he slowly stepped forward."Failed?" he echoed with a laugh. "The moon goddess didn't just fail. She abandoned us."He growled. "Where was she when wolves were dying?" Damion spread his arms. "Where was she when packs were starving? Where was she when chaos consumed our world?"His eyes swept across the gathered Alphas."Nowhere."The lunar flames surged higher."But Saleen was there. Saleen gave us purpose. She gave us direction. She gave us power."The energy around him exploded outward, causing several Alphas immediately took a step back."Whether you like it or not..." his voice deepened. "Saleen is your goddess now."A growl rolled through the arena. Some agreed.Others looked horrified.Damion simply smirked. Then his gaze landed on my stomach and it twisted. The smile on his face softened. And somehow that made it worse."Elara."The way he said my n
Elara POV Finding out that Chrysantha and Damion had been hooking up with each other had kept me in a mood I couldn't explain for the past two weeks. It left me wondering what else was going on right under my nose without me finding out. It's been two weeks since we moved to the Ontario, two weeks of living in Henry's house among humans, and two weeks of healing and recovering.Henry had been all loved up with his kids and me as well.He made sure I didn't lack anything. And everything I needed being constantly provided for me.I stood before the long mirror, whirling my energy while I admired the reflection. It was now or never. Henry wasn't totally in support of this, but it was high time we stopped thoes good for nothing Saleen puppets before they stopped us.I made a hard fist, practicing the core emergy concentration trick for the umpteenth time. The one of whirling the energy around the fist for some time as it steamed in the core.A wicked smile spread across my face.We wer
Chrysantha’s POVThe anger burned so hot in my chest I thought it would choke me before I even reached the palace gates. Two weeks. Two whole weeks of silence from Damion after he stabbed me in the back in front of the entire arena. After he stood there beside Saleen like some loyal dog while my whole world crumbled. Henry had already served me the divorce papers, and now this?I wasn’t going to sit and lick my wounds like some weak Luna. No. I stormed through the corridors of Moon Shield, my heels clicking hard against the stone floors, fists clenched so tight my nails dug into my palms. The guards didn’t even try to stop me. Maybe they saw the fire in my eyes or maybe they were too scared after everything that had gone down. I didn’t care. I pushed open the heavy doors to Damion’s chambers without knocking. He was there, sitting on his trone-like chair, shirtless as usual, that smug look already plastered on his face. He wasn’t surprised to see me!That sneaky ba!tard. His lips cu
Elara's POV Two weeks had passed since that nightmare at the inauguration grounds, and somehow, I was still breathing. My body felt almost like mine again.Although it was still weak in some places, but the fire in my veins was slowly coming back. No more waking up in cold sweats, clutching my stomach like something was ripping me apart from the inside. The poison was gone, or mostly gone, thanks to the healers and that gentle silver light from the moon goddess herself.I sat up in the soft bed of this strange apartment Henry had brought us to, staring out the window at the quiet streets of Ontario. Humans everywhere, living their normal lives, no idea about wolves or goddesses or betrayals that could tear packs apart. It was peaceful in a way I hadn't known in months. No Damion hovering with his fake concern. No Saleen’s shadow looming. Just me, the twins cooing in the corner, and Anna moving around like the rock she’d always been.My heart tugged every time I looked at my babies
Damion's POV "I can't believe you let them go!"Saleen growled for the umpteenth time, striking a tree on the path with emerald green lighting. Rage rolling out. We watched the tree dry up at the instant."Find them or this becomes your cause."She spun to me quickly. Fear attempted to get into me, but I shook it off immediately, reminding myself what fear could do especially in the presence of Saleen. She'd suck it up, and consume it, using it quickly to her advantage. "The thick clouds." I said, gathering my words. I believe they came from the moon goddess. "Cut the crap!"She shot, shutting me up at the instant."The moon goddess that hasn't been responding to any of the wolves since the full moon, what do you mean she suddenly showed up?""If it's not her, then who?"I asked without hesitation and that statement earned me some scolding.Saleen stopped on her tracks, her dark eyes charging at me."Tell me, are you saying this as an excuse for your incompetence or what?"She gr
Henry’s POVThe wind whipped against my face like a thousand tiny blades as Eddy and I tore through the shadowed paths leading back to Moon Shield. My chest burned with every stride, but I didn’t dare slow down. The image of Damion’s silver-crackling hands and Saleen’s cold, triumphant smile haunted every step. Shawn’s body and Ezekiel’s desperate howls too.It all fueled the fire in my veins. We had barely escaped with our lives, and now the only person who could turn this nightmare around lay vulnerable in Damion’s territory.“Faster, Eddy!” I growled, my voice hoarse from the battle cries still echoing in my throat. “If Damion gets to her first...”“He won’t,” Eddy panted beside me, his partial shift making his movements jagged but powerful. “Moon goddess be with us.”We burst through the familiar gates of the Moon Shield pack house, ignoring the startled guards who scrambled out of our way. The corridors felt longer than ever, every shadow a potential trap. My heart hammered as w

Elara's POV. My skin burned under his touch, and my heart made thoes drastic movements against its chambers.I should be breaking off his grip.No...not just that, I should be positioning the sword over his neck and demanding he went back to the iron fang, but instead, weaknesses pourned down on m

I left for one night...It's a miracle that morning finally came in a situation like this, because times like these, it never did.I thought it would never come as I had stopped expecting it either. After I left Henry at the border, I waltzed into my pack lands.I'd managed to find an area of land
