LOGINIt was dark again when I woke up. The pain that coursed through me was unlike any other. I instinctively traced my fingers across my neck, resting them on the part Alpha Henry had bitten.
"He marked me as his mate?!" I whispered to myself as I sat on my knees, the coldness emanating from the floors and the enclosed walls, made my body weak.
There was a moist feeling between my legs that made the inside feel very sticky. I shifted and slowly reached down, raising my clothes to reveal my inner thighs but there was nothing much that I could see save for pitch black.
The only way to know what was down there was to smell it. Carefully, I rubbed my fingers against my inner thighs, bringing them up slowly to my nose to inhale the scent, and the metallic smell of blood hit me.
My blood went cold. The Alpha hadn't forced himself on him, had he?!
The walls felt as though they were closing in on me.
It all made sense to me now. What Luna Chrysantha had said about me bearing the Alpha's pups came crashing down on me like a torrent.
"Dear goddess, I need to leave this place now!" I struggled to get up to my feet—using my hands as a guide to see what was in front of me.
My heart palpitated when I finally found the door's knob after minutes of searching. Slowly, I twisted the knob.
It was.....unlocked?!
The beating inside my chest increased.
What the hell were these people's intentions for me? They couldn't have thrown me in here only to keep the door unlocked.
But I knew I had to act fast. My heart thundered as my bare foot slapped against the cold stone floors of the dungeon's passage.
The freedom I felt after I stepped out was intoxicating, and I could taste it with every frantic breath.
I darted through a narrow corridor, desperate to find the exit. Instead, I stumbled into a vast chamber filled with golden Torchlight.
The heavy doors creaked as I pushed them open. I was wary of its occupancy until I'd opened them completely and the voices inside fell silent.
My stomach dropped like a stone, and my legs turned into jelly beneath me, sending me crashing onto the floor in a helpless heap.
There was a high council sitting in a semi-circle, and at the head of the chamber sat Luna Chrysantha. She was draped in silks of midnight blue. Her eyes were cold and they looked like venomous emeralds—locking onto me with a fury that she couldn't hide.
And by her side sat Alpha Henry. His face broke into a devilish grin the moment he saw. I'd never wished for death all my life more than I wished for it now.
"Elara!" Chrysantha's voice cut through the air like a knife. "How fitting of you to stumble upon your own death sentence."
The blood from my face had drained.
One of the elders slammed his staff into the floor, "She is already carrying the Alpha's seeds, I don't see how her existence will threaten the unity of the pack!"
His words rang in my ear like a bell. I was carrying the Alpha's children?
I held my stomach instinctively and went to my knees. My lips parted, trembling.
"Your majesty, please. I have done nothing to deserve this kind of life...."
"I'm just an orphaned omega struggling to make ends meet. I will never...."
"Enough!" Chrysantha thundered, silencing me.
"Do you think your womb gives you power?!" She asked me, but I had no idea what she was talking about.
From the previous events that had happened, I could only deduce that I had been kidnapped against my will to bear pups for the alpha because it was rumored that Luna Chrysantha was barren.
But why choose me... Of all the other females in the pack, I am the most unworthy. I don't even have my wolf yet, which makes me different from the pack.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Chrysantha place her arm on Alpha Henry's, and with a smile on her face, she let out, "If you love your Luna and you truly love your pack, you will prove it. End her, Henry. " With her elongated claw pointed at me.
My eyes widened in shock. 'Oh moon goddess, I can't die this way. Why has my life been filled with only misfortune?'
The Alpha's jaw tightened and slowly, he rose from his throne and began walking towards me.
I stumbled back, trying to get away. This cannot be the end for me.
"Your majesty, I beg of you....do..do..do not kill me!" I cried out, my face wet with tears and sweat.
He had closed the distance between us and holding my chin firmly. Our eyes locked.
His lips were moving but I couldn't make out any words of what he was saying.
"Chrysantha doesn't know it but it was my sole decision to pick you to carry my pups." He started, caressing my wet jaw with his thumb.
Even though I knew Alpha Henry was going to kill me, the look in his eyes said something different. When his fingers traced the lines across my chin, a spark ignited inside me, heat flooding in between my legs.
What was happening to me? Why would I crave him now when every moment could be my last?!
Was it madness that made me inch closer, longing for the feel of his lips on mine? Was it the mating mark he had etched deep into my neck ?... No, it couldn't be; I had no wolf, marking me as a mate would be impossible.
Yet, something inside me was drawn to him, like he was all I needed to survive. My voice trembled as I whispered to him, "Please don't kill me."
As soon as those words departed my lips, another smile spread across his face.
"It's Chrysantha's wish that I get rid of all my prospective mates." He whispered back and revealed his sharp index claw to me.
He traced it slightly and rested it just above my heart. I whimpered when suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my heart and everything went pitch black.
Damion’s POVThe silence that followed my entrance was deadly. Not a single wolf moved.Thousands of eyes remained fixed on me as I walked slowly toward Saleen, the silver energy dancing around my fingers like living lightning.I could feel Elara's powers hovering around me, surging violently beneath my skin, far stronger than I imagined. And from the horrified look spreading across Henry’s face, he felt it too.“No…” Henry whispered, and I flashed a smirk at him.Beside him, Shawn looked equally stunned while Eddy’s entire expression collapsed into fear. But none of them looked as shattered as Chrysantha. I could see the disbelief written boldly on her face. Her face drained of color as realization dawned on her that I had betrayed her.“Damion…” she tired to speak, but I looked away immediately. Because right now, none of them mattered, only power did.The energy inside me pulsed again, hotter this time, and even the air around me vibrated under its pressure.Soon, the crowd began
Henry’s POVThe inauguration grounds had never looked this alive before.Thousands of wolves filled the massive crescent arena.Silver banners carrying Saleen’s crest hung from every stone pillar, and the entire place reeked of power. And standing there among the crowd, all I could feel was dread. My gaze swept across the arena again, scanning every entrance for what had to be the hundredth time.Yet, there was no sign of Damion.Beside me, Alpha Shawn cursed under his breath while Alpha Eddy paced impatiently behind the hidden corridor where we stood concealed.“He should’ve been here already,” Eddy snapped quietly, dragging both hands through his hair.I clenched my jaw harder. We were supposed to meet last night.Practice the formation. Test our combined strength. Figure out how to strike Saleen before she overwhelmed us.But Damion never came.Worse, nobody could find him.And what annoyed me the most was that without him, our chances had dropped terribly.Three Alphas against Sal
Damion’s POVThe second Henry walked out of the room, silence settled heavily around me.My gaze shifted back to Elara immediately. She still looked pale and weaker than I had ever seen her before, until she moved. Her fingers twitched and then her head shifted weakly against the pillow.A slow breath escaped my lips."Finally," I said, moving closer to her, masking every dark thought underneath my concern.“Elara?”My voice softened carefully as I crouched beside her bed.Her lashes fluttered weakly before her eyes slowly opened. Exhaustion clouded them instantly. She looked drained and fragile.“Damion,” her voice came out hoarse.I quickly reached for the glass of water beside her, supporting her carefully as she drank.“You shouldn’t move yet,” I murmured gently. “You almost died.”A faint frown crossed her face as memories slowly returned to her.“The attack…” she whispered.“It’s handled for now,” I lied smoothly. “You need to focus on recovering.”Her eyes searched mine weakly.
Elara, being the currently strongest wolf, operated in three major powers and one minor power, making her almost as strong as Saleen. There had been speculations that she might be stronger than her, but that hadn't been confirmed yet, and we didn't want to take chances. "So to get at least 8 major powers would take 3-4 four Alpha's coming together to defeat Saleen with 3 major powers and 4 minor powers."Damion continued, interrupting my thoughts.I nodded, as I made the calculations. It was pretty simple."And to balance out, we must make sure there are excess powers, for instance, a minor or 2 minor powers included, that way we wouldn't be unfortunate."I chipped in."Exactly, Elara, you and I would have made that perfect match, but it seemed Saleen wants to play a fast game."Damion said. Now his pacing increased, I could tell he was already wallowing in thoughts of the way forward. "Since it required 3-4 Alphas to knock her down, why didn't the other Alphas do that in the past?
Henry's POV I learnt of Elara's sickness from one of my palace guards I'd instructed to keep a close eye on her. After we left soire, and equally central pole, I needed something that would remind me of the moments I once shared with her.The moments I shared with the only woman my heart currently beat for.And to satisfy that, I'd instructed one of my guards to keep an eye on her and to report whatever was going on with her to me.I didn't mean to be stuck, don't get me wrong, all I wanted was to feel closer to the woman I love.As soon as I heard that she fell sick, I abandoned everything I was doing and came to the moon shield to see her.I walked into the very lit room, my shoulders sagging with the weights of all that was happening. I couldn't bear the thought of losing her, seeing how many wolves we lost recently, my mind was literally hitting hard against my chest.I stepped into the room, Alpha Damion was seated beside her, hands on the quads, eyes on Elara who laid helpless
Damion’s POVThe night didn’t end there, it actually lingered. And somewhere in between the silence of the corridors and the echo of my own footsteps, I knew that exactly what I wanted was about to begin. I stood by the window in my chamber, fingers resting against the cold marble, my gaze lost in the darkness that swallowed the pack house, and a faint smirk tugged at my lips.“Too late for that,” I muttered under my breath.Because what had been done had been done perfectly. The poison wasn’t meant to kill her.I wasn’t a fool to ever want to kill her.At least her kids needed her alive, all I wanted was her powers. The poision I had earlier put in her meal was to weaken her. To make her unable to use the power even though she possessed it.That way, she'd be convinced to lend it to me, so I'd fight for the entire werewolves at the inauguration. And when I found out that it was already working, my joy knew no bound.A sharp knock came at my door.My lips curled slowly, expecting w
Chrysantha’s POVThe forge smelled of iron and smoke and old bargains.I liked places like this. They were honest in a way courts never were. Metal did not pretend. Weapons did not lie. They either cut, or they failed.Alpha Daryl stood across the long stone table from me, broad-shouldered and watc
Henry's POV A knock came very early the next morning as I was fastening my vambrace.Th sharp, hurried tap on the door immediately put every nerve in my body on alert. "Enter", I called out.My guards stepped in, bowed stiffly, then straightened with visible unease. "Your majesty...Luna Chrysanth
“Rest, My Lady”Anna’s voice broke into my thoughts before I could say another word.“My lady, you need to rest,” she said softly, her tone firm but gentle like she was speaking to a child. “You’ve been through too much. Maybe that’s why your hair is acting strange. Stress can do a lot to the body
Henry's POV Every instinct in me roared at once. My wolf was clawing, thrashing, demanding I move. I stormed from the council hall before anyone dared speak. If Damion thought he could keep her from me, if he thought a single boundary line could stand in my way, he was a fool. She was mine. She wa
