Ford’s pov

I must have dozed off, because when I awoke, by the moon shining through my window, I was still seated on the ground.

I hastily stood up, not remembering the items I was holding, the snow globe smashing on the floor.

In a state of panic I began gathering the fragments of glass, hoping that somehow I would be able to put them back together. But similar to my relationship with Nivia, once something is broken, it cannot be mended.

‘It can,’ Callum spoke in a kind voice, his anger gone.

Seeing those gifts after the argument with Leia did something unexpected to me. It made me realise that I had been wrong.

I had repeated the last conversation I had with Nivia in this room many times, but last night, for the first time, I actually paid attention to what she was trying to say. Without immediately defending myself or coming up with excuses for my behaviour.

And I came to the conclusion that I did not know my mate.

Not in the manner she knew me.

I had taken her for granted, assumin

Ford is here and he's made some big breakthroughs. In my mind ford does anything to keep people out. Be an ass or in this case, give up. Anything to keep his distance. But something big happened and now he is forced to choose and thankfully he chose nivia and not his fear. let's see if he can stick to his choice.

You are doing an amazing job with him! He has been frustrating yet vulnerable. I love this book! But I do say that with all of your books. lol

Author Naomi is really intouched with her fan base. She named a warrior after me “Tamara” in stolen Alpha. A common name but she actually said that it was after me.

Loved this chapter, from every angle. The way Ford responded the way her family responded. It was all so perfect.

Nivia’s povWhat the hell is going on?Ford is… Wow… Ford is… I don’t even have words.I have feelings, though, a lot of them. Too many of them.‘He is trying.’ Gwyn spoke for the first time since I was shot.‘You’re back.’‘I’m sorry you had to go through this alone,’ Gwyn howled. ‘I wish I was there to support you.’‘You’re here now.’ I tried to reassure her. ‘You’re not mad that my carelessness cost you a pup?’Gwyn's voice was kind when she answered me. I had been nervous she’d hate me, because she had tried to make me take a test before. ‘We will have a pup when the time is right.’‘I’m really confused,’ I admitted. Especially because one of the main things I felt besides compassion when Ford spoke was a deep desire to fuck his brains out.And well, I’m still having a miscarriage, so we can't have sex anyway. It used to be the time when I would feel close to Ford, but now, sex would just confuse me.And if I’m being completely honest, the only reason I would sleep with Ford right

  • The Alpha With a Heart of Stone   64. Uncomfortable

Ford’s povThe amount of discomfort I felt about this entire situation would normally have infuriated me.However, I had a moment to mull the situation over while Nivia slept in my arms. And I’ve come to the conclusion that anger will not serve me this time.I have not found what will. For everything I said or did felt like a performance.‘Not the pedicure…’ Callum pointed out.No, he was correct. I did not have words of comfort to give, and I am not a person who enjoys awkward embraces.‘You tried to find a way that fit you; perhaps you could do such a thing more often.’ Callum suggested.Perhaps… If Nivia allowed me to.I had thought she’d be grateful for my change in behaviour, yet she only seemed confused by it. How else would I win her back?Callum could not reply, for Nivia and Leia stepped out of the hospital room.“You coming? We’re heading back to the packhouse.” Leia smiled at me.“If that is acceptable?” I looked over at Nivia.“Yeah, sure, but you can’t stay in my room.” S

  • The Alpha With a Heart of Stone   63. Too Nice

Nivia’s pov“Ford?” I opened my eyes feeling groggy.Grandma Leia held my hand, “hey sweetheart.”“Of course not… Why would he be here?” I muttered to myself.“Well, actually….” Grandma started.“Actually, what?” I tried to sit up, but my back was still sore. I thought it was a dream that I smelled Ford, but why was his scent still here? Was I hallucinating?“Ford, -“The door opened before Grandma could say more, “you called for me, Leia?”Grandma chuckled, “I didn’t, Ford. I was just trying to tell Nivia you came here with me, but that she’s free to kick you out if she'd like to.” She turned to me. “It’s your fucking choice.”Why was she all buddy-buddy with my mate?I assumed Ford would hate my grandma because she is just like me, only worse. Grandma Leai really doesn’t give a fuck. She’s authentically herself. Loud, silly, and wild when she wants to be.“Nivia?” Ford asked, and he looked at me with an expression I wasn’t used to. Like he actually cared.“You can stay for a bit,” I

Nivia’s pov“You should have seen Niv out there; she was fucking brutal!” My uncle Argo shouted.I rolled my eyes and sighed, “maybe your soldiers aren’t where they need to be because I wasn’t doing anything different.”“Goddess.” Argo laughed, “you’re so fucking moody today.”“Am not!”“Am too!” Argo replied, while Mila tried to stop him from engaging further.“You’re a dick.” I growled.“And you either need some dick or you’re getting your period, because damn, woman. You were fucking scary out there today.” Argo replied.“Don’t say that, pretty boy. That’s not nice.” Mila scolded her mate.“Yeah, listen to your mate, Argo…” I scoffed.Argo didn’t stop. “When Mila is in a mood, she’s either hangry, she needs to be fucked, or she is getting her period. Just basic science shit.”“I don’t think you can say that about all women,” Airk tried. “Besides, Nivia has a pretty good reason to be in a bad mood.”‘Yeah!” I nodded, “my asshole mate has given up on our relationship, and my idiot un

  • The Alpha With a Heart of Stone   46. Bad Man

Ford's povI knocked on the door, harder than I needed to.“Yes?”“Are you decent?”“Yeah, come on in.” Leia said on the other end of the door.I threw the door open and stormed in, “it is all hogwash, drivel… Just nonsense you’re spouting.”She smirked at me, “so you thought about my words?”I scoffed, “you somehow claim that my life is worth less if I decide to continue as I am. That I somehow need to change. The audacity to claim to know me. To claim to know better. I am perfectly content. Your granddaughter simply needs to grow up and understand she will never have the type of relationship her parents have. She is my mate!” I growled. “Mine! And that should be sufficient.”Leia looked at me, not impressed by my words. There was no anger on her face, no hate. She still looked at me with kindness. “Do you know that you’re dimming her light?”“What the bloody hell does that mean?!” I growled as I paced angrily.“I was with her for several days, and Nivia is second-guessing herself; s
