The Alpha and His Mysterious Lady

POV William/Mars

My heart is beating a mile a minute chasing down the Silvermoon pack, they dishonoured our contract and it was time to pay their debt.

I can scent their fear as my paws crash through the thick woods, Gamma Michael is bleeding out a few miles behind, his blood still wet in my fur, their Beta Dylan and Alpha Simon had fled when they saw my pack. They knew their time to meet the moon goddess had arrived.

In the corner of my eye I see a flash of white and smell the delectable scent of warm vanilla and cherry, wanting to continue the chase I try and ignore Mars shouting at me to turn back. He was drawn to the white figure and demanded we investigate.

Hearing the rest of my back behind me I link with my Beta Ashton telling him to continue following Beta Dylan and Alpha Simon explaining that we saw something that needing investigating and give him full permission to take the kill shot should he get the chance. Ashton has been waiting for this moment since Simon had killed his mate Jasmine, creating this distasteful hunt.

Allowing Mars to take over I do a U-turn and lock on to the new scent, letting it pull us back. The fruity vanilla scent removing all anger from Mars and filling his mind with confusion and need we draw closer to the white figure.

“If you get us killed, I will murder you” I sigh to Mars.

Mars chuffs in my mind and sarcastically states “Have I ever let you down”

Finally we see the mysterious figure followed by the sound of hushed tears. It’s a woman, her dark hair dirty and messy as though she was running blindly through the dark forest. She has not noticed us yet, she didn’t smell like she came from Silvermoon and even without seeing her face I knew that I had never met her during previous visits there. I would definitely remember her scent.

Not wanting to alarm her, I feel Mars pulling back and I shift back in my human form.

Slowly approaching her, I let a branch snap beneath my foot. Her head turns and I smell no fear when her blue eyes meet my green. Her eyes widen in shock, she wasn’t expecting to be discovered. If Mars hadn’t been drawn to her I wouldn’t have left the pack and would have investigated once the fight was finished.

My breath catches in my throat and I feel my stomach drop. Mixed in with her scent I smell iron and earth.

“Blood” Mars said with alarm.

Looking down I see that the white dress, that caught my attention was splattered with blood. The dress is torn and dirty with unmistakable blood soaking the bottom. From what I could see of her pale arms and legs there were no wounds accept the small nicks from trees and her face had a small slice on her right cheek but nothing that explains the amount of blood on her dress.

The question is, was it her own or someone else’s?
