Mackenzie
I was sitting in the passenger seat of my brother’s 2022 Audi TT RS as I stared at the scenery going by in a blur, while Elena was behind us in her brother’s 2022 Audi R8. I kept thinking back to what happened in the hall with Brittany and how things like that seemed to always happen to me. I never knew what it meant and only Mason and my parents knew about what I could do. I once heard my parents talking in dad’s study one night after I had an episode. We were all at the dinner table and I had a fight with Brittany at school that day. No surprise there. I was about eight years old and I couldn’t get what happened out of my head.
Flashback
Elena and I were on the playground for recess on the swings like we always did. I was watching my brother, Erik, and Nico play basketball when I felt my leg being pulled and I fell off the swing. It took me a moment to get my bearings, but when I stood, I saw Brittany laughing along with her friends. I hated that we had to share a school with them, but that was how things were. Elena stopped swinging and came to help me up.
“Mack, are you okay?” she gently asked as she helped me to my feet.
I looked down at the pretty dress my aunt got me for my eighth birthday and tears welled in my eyes. I loved this dress and, since it came from her, it meant a lot to me. It was a pale blue sundress that flowed to my knees with matching shorts to go underneath them.
“Awe, the little baby’s crying.” I heard Brittany taunt as I tried my bed to hold back the tears. I was a young and naïve girl whose brother was always there to protect her along with his friends. This time, we were in a spot where they couldn’t hear or see, despite our wolf hearing.
“Shut up you ugly bitch!” I heard Elena shout over their laughter. I looked up and over their shoulders to where Mason was and when Brittany noticed, she focused on me.
“You think Nicky is going to come save you?” she scoffed. “Like he would want some pathetic and weak excuse of a she-wolf like you.”
I stayed rooted to my spot. I knew I hated her, but how could she be that cruel? I did nothing wrong to her. I barely knew her other than the fact she was Alpha Peter’s daughter. Whenever there was a meeting, it would be held at our packhouse since it was bigger and she would come along with her brother Beckett. She always acted like she was better than everyone and I had no idea why.
“You don’t even know him.” I managed to get out. It was taking everything in me to not run or call out to Mason. I needed to handle this on my own so she would leave me alone.
“I know him enough.” She smiled, looking over her shoulder.
“Hey!” I heard and looked over to see Mason, Nico, and Erik rushing over.
“Time to go.” Brittany smiled wickedly and walked away with her friends, leaving me standing there on the verge of tears.
“Mack.” I looked up to see Mason walking toward me. “What happened kiddo?” he knelt to my level and put his hand on my shoulder. “Why is your dress dirty?” He assessed me. I could faintly hear Elena telling them what had happened.
“I just want to go home.” I whimpered as I started to shake. Mason took my hand after saying something to Nico and we started to take the short walk back to the packhouse.

It was then at dinner when the events replayed in my head did things start to happen. I didn’t notice at first, but the more my mind went wild, the more stuff happened. I was helping mommy set the table when the napkins moved as if there was a gust of wind, the chairs around the table would shake, and the lights would flicker. We were half way through dinner when my mind was thinking about the events when, suddenly, there was a crashing sound. I blinked my eyes and looked to see everyone looking at the broken plates that were on the floor. I caught my mom’s gaze and she looked shocked. After that, everything was a blur, and I woke up in my room.
“It can’t be.” I heard through my cracked door. Being the curious little 8-year-old I was, I got out of bed and headed toward the voices. They were coming from daddy’s study. I stopped by the plant that was outside the door and listened.
“Melanie, calm down.” My father said, trying to keep his tone neutral.
“How Vin?” I could hear the worry in my mom’s voice, but why? “We still have another 10 years before she should be showing signs.” Signs? Signs of what?
“I know.” I heard my father’s heavy sigh. “Try not to stress about it. We will call Evelyn in the morning and see what she has to say.” Why would they be calling Ebbie? I don’t know what my great grandmother would have to do with this, but if daddy thought it was a good idea, then it must be.
Their conversation shifted and I did not want to be around for that, so I made my way back to bed. I climbed in and grabbed my stuffed wolf my grandfather gave me and I curled myself up under the blankets and went to sleep.
End Flashback
I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard voices in the car. I blinked my eyes and looked over to Mason who was pushing a button on the steering wheel.
“Who were you talking to?” I asked as I got my bearings back.
“Your mind must have wandered.” I heard him laugh. His laugh was infectious, and I couldn’t help but laugh with him. “It was Nick. We were talking for a good 10 minutes.”
“Hm.” I hummed as I looked out the window. I knew I needed to tell Mason what happened, but this hasn’t happened in years.
“What’s come Mack?” His voice was now full of concern. I took a deep breath and turned so my back was against the door.
“It happened.” I bit my lip and closed my eyes, waiting for him to go off.
“Mackenzie.” The way he said my full name said it all. He never used my full name.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen! I swear!” I defended with my hands up. “I just happened and I didn’t even do anything.”
“What happened?”
“Brittany.” I muttered, holding back the anger that was bubbling inside me.
“Say no more.” He shook his head. “You know we have to tell mom and dad about this.”
“No!” I quickly shouted. “Please! Please don’t! This will ruin my summer and I just want one last summer before I turn 18 and find my mate. Please!” I begged, now hugging his arms as I looked up at him with doe eyes. I felt him take a deep breath, then let it out.
“Fine.” He sighed as he shook his head. “You do anything you are not supposed to this summer, and I will tell them.” He gave me the side eye.
“I promise!” I sat up and put my hand over my heart.
“Good. We’re here.” I looked out the window to see the beautiful sand approaching as Mason parked the car. Once the car was parked, I hopped out, grabbed my bag and ran with Elena to the beach that was calling our names.
Mackenzie The time at the beach was amazing. We got to hang out with all our friends from The Crystal River Pack, another neighboring pack and an ally of ours. We played all the classic beach games, from volleyball to frisbee. We reminisced about our favorite moments in school, among other things. Now it was time for graduation and time to say our final goodbyes to everyone, as some would be going to college and finding their mates and possibly moving away. I was currently standing in my walk-in closet trying to decide on what dress I was going to wear. I was going between a pretty pink, off-the-shoulder chiffon dress that rested mid-thigh or a purple-scoop neck dress that fell just below my knees. “Go with the pink.” Rose piped up. “Well, hello to you too.” I chuckled, since she had been a bit quiet since the incident yesterday. I’ve only had Rose since I was 15 and I haven’t had an episode since she came to me. That was another thing that had mom worried. Most wolves get their
Nicholas Today was the last day of Alpha training and I couldn’t have been any happier. These past 2 years have been grueling, but it was worth it. Gone was the tall and slim boy and in his place was a 6’5 wall of muscle and tattoos. A lot has happened in the 2 years since I have been here. I’ve bulked up due to the rigorous training, got some ink on my skin and a whole lot more knowledge than I had before I came here. My dad was an amazing teacher, but he only taught me so much. Training growing up was tough, but tougher on me as I was the Alpha’s son. I had to do twice as much work as the others and it helped prepare me for what was coming. I stood tall on the stage as everyone was being announced at the ending ceremony. I couldn’t wait for it to be over so I could go back and see my family. My family. I missed them so much. My mother, the Luna of the Blue River Pack, was the most sincere and down-to-earth person you could meet, and she would do anything for anyone. My father, the
Mackenzie I was still reeling from the revelation my wolf said at graduation. How could I find my mate when I wasn’t even 18 yet? She didn’t say who it was, just that she got a faint whiff of their scent. I was surrounded by dozens of girls and boys, so any one of them could be my mate. I wasn’t opposed to having a she-wolf as a mate, I supported that fully. As we all trickled off the football field, Rose began to settle a bit more. I tried talking to her, but all she did was whimper in my head. I will be 18 in a week, so I should find out who my mate is then. I was brought from my thoughts when Elena nudged me. “You’ve been awfully quiet.” She lowly said to me. We were currently in the back of my parents' SUV on our way back to the pack house for our graduation party. “Hm?” I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. “Sorry. Everything just hit me.” I lied. “You know I can tell when you’re lying, right?” I bit my lip, unsure if I should tell her. Only my parents and Mason knew
Beckett It was the morning of graduation and all I could do was pace my room. I was told that everything should be in place by now, yet Kenzie wasn’t showing any signs. I am half tempted to end that useless witch who said the spell she casted would work, but it’s hard when said witch was family. Yes, my mother was half witch on her mother’s side. My grandmother and great-grandmother were powerful witches who were mated to wolfs, Alpha’s to be exact. Now, you would think I was a warlock, a male witch, but I got everything from my father. In my mother’s line, only the females were half witch so that meant, Brittany, my younger sister, was half witch. She has yet to show signs of having powers, so only time will tell. As I kept pacing, my attention was brought to the corner of my room where a light lavender color appeared. “Penny for your thoughts?” I heard my cousin, Trinity, say before she appeared before my eyes. Her mother was lucky enough to be paired with a warlock, so she was a f
Nicholas After making sure all those filthy rouges were taken care of and all pack members were safe, I headed to the cell where we took those, we took captive. I took my time getting there since Hawk was still going crazy in my head. The sweet smell of honeysuckle was engraved in our mind. Once we laid eyes on Kenz, it was game over and Hawk wanted blood. It took everything in me to keep him at bay so as not to attack. I always felt a special pull towards her, but I thought it was just a crush at the time. Growing up, we were always together, since Mason kept a close eye on her and we were always together. He and I were born on the same day and our parents were best friends, despite their rank. My mind kept going back to her beautiful blue eyes that looked deep into my soul. I could tell she was not the same girl I left two years ago and I couldn’t wait to get to know the new Kenz. I was brought from my thoughts when Erik caught up to me. “Mason is
Elena Tonight was the night. The night I would be turning 18 with my best friend and finding my mate. I was hoping to the Goddess above that Mason was my mate. I have had a crush on him forever and it’s not what everyone thinks. No, it was not his looks. It was his personality that I loved the most. He was so kind, caring, gentle, easy to talk to, and always there when he was needed. I was lucky enough to grow up with him. I was happy I got to know him for him. As we got older and our appearances changed, it was a bonus. No longer was the adorable little boy who always stood up for Mack and me. In his place was an amazingly strong and good-looking man. Since he got his wolf, he has become taller, much taller. His hair grew out more and his blue eyes somehow got bluer. Over the years, he added some ink to his skin and that made him look even better. Being a Gamma’s daughter, I was praying the moon goddess would grant me the only wish I had. I wanted Mason to
Nicholas As I was walking through the throng of people, that sweet and intoxicating scent hit my nose. The moment it did, Hawk stirred inside my head. Ever since I came back and her smell hit my senses, I have been hooked on it. I found myself spending a lot more time on the Beta floor with Mason instead of my office. He questioned why and when I told him, I thought he would freak out. To my surprise, he was actually happy it was me who was mated with Kenz and not that other prick. He told me some of what happened, but I had a feeling there was more to it. Kenz was stubborn and wanted to fight her own battles without our help. It all started when she was 12 and Brittany teased her for being weak. Ever since then, she has trained twice as hard, if not more, than any other. I admired that about her, along with how bubbly, caring, and loyal she was. While growing up, I always felt this attraction towards her, but thought it was just from her being young
Mackenzie Walking back into the crowded backyard, I searched for where my mother was. Once I found her, I made my way over to where she stood with daddy, Uncle Nate, Aunt Nicole, Aunt Ambar, and Uncle Kevin. I also saw Elena and Mason looking cozy, much to the displeasure of Uncle Kevin and Erik. “There’s my baby girl!” mom all but shouted as she pulled me into her arms in a bone-crushing hug. “Mom…” I wheezed. “..can’t breathe.” I patted her back as I started to go dizzy from the lack of oxygen. “I can’t believe you’re all grown up.” She sniffled as she pulled away. “A little too grown up.” I heard daddy mumble under his breath. “Vinny!” my mom slapped his arm in shock. I knew daddy wasn’t going to like my dress, but he did allow me to purchase it, kinda. “Daddy.” I pouted, sticking out my bottom lip. “You don’t like my dress.” I faked a cry, cutting him deep. I was a true daddy’s girl. “Princess…I do,
