CHAPTER 05

What they expected to see was the rolling head of the girl frolicking at the edge of the cliff. Yet, an unusual scene unfolded right in front of them. It was the scenery they never thought of even in their wildest imagination.

“We-we are trying to clean her up, Sir. We tied both of her hands and feet. But she woke up earlier than Will anticipated. She broke free, causing her to hurt herself,” the leader explained. At this moment, he realized that their Alpha was up to something. And it's better to be safe than sorry, he thought. “I apologize for our recklessness, Alpha. I'll take full responsibility for this mess.”

“Where did you get her?” Kaylon carefully carried her in a bridal position that made his men almost puke a mouthful of blood. Because of their sudden skin contact, the girl regained consciousness. She opened her eyes and looked at the man in front of her. Her eyes flickered with light and oozed with admiration. But when the man's amber eyes met hers, she clearly knew that she was in a safe place. As if the unfamiliar feeling was comforting her like she was used to it for a long time. At that moment, she couldn't name or understand the surge of feelings flooding her limited knowledge.

“Mate . . .” Kaylon mumbled that startled his men. While on the other hand, the girl’s heart was filled with happiness to the point of lifting

her hand but was taken over by her lightheadedness and succumbed to her tired yet happy consciousness.

While some of the men's attention is fixed on the girl, some are paying attention to a sudden phenomenon.

“Si-sir, lo-look at that. What's happening?” said the man while moving his shaking hand.

The leader and Will who were standing next to each other, looked in the direction where the warrior was pointing at.

“Mices? What are they doing here?” Will was perplexed.

“They weren't attacking though,” added Lider.

“But they are definitely looking and staring in a certain direction.”

As they started to observe, they could clearly see that the mischief was only looking

in the two figures. They were fervently observing their Alpha and the girl in his arms.

The next morning . . .

It was a beautiful sunny morning on the island of the late secluded pack. The sun is brightly shining while the wind is having fun. Birds are singing all around while the other insects are vibing. Vibing like the girl on the floor, lying comfortably with her bare body even unfazed while listening to the hustling and bustling of creatures around her. Her eyes might be closed but she's fully awake. Taking her time listening to those beautiful animal sounds for the reason that she could almost understand them.

But her deep thoughts ought to be disturbed when she hears something. The girl’s body flinched when she heard footsteps coming. Upon smelling the familiar scent in the air, the girl's body relaxed and began doing what she was doing earlier. She appeared to be more defenseless than before. She was like a child, innocent and did not know about the word danger.

“Oh, God! Why are you sleeping on the floor again? It's the third time since last night. Well, I guess, you're still uncomfortable in this bed . . .” Kaylon mumbled but she could clearly hear it. She couldn't help but squeak inwardly. There she goes again. Just like she always wanted for the last three days, to stay in the same tent with the man. Being always carried like a baby. But now, Bal was still wondering why the man was not biting her nape. That's the right way to carry someone, she thought. For the last three days, she had discovered a lot of things. Like being able to associate with weird creatures, like what she heard and understood— humans. Kaylon dressed her up because she was only wearing women's pants.

After Kaylon put her back in bed, she opened her eyes and stared at the man's huge bareback. The girl was curious about the pattern that she was looking at. Subconsciously, she looked at her skin, comparing it to the man's. Even though hers were roughly glued and molded on her bone, she still couldn't find the pattern which she saw on Kaylon’s back. So, out of curiosity, the girl slowly moved up and directly stood at Kaylon’s back, just a few inches away.

“Uhm . . .” Kaylon groaned, feeling her palm on his back. The girl smiled, ready to greet him with her innocent smile if he had just turned around to face her.

“Oh, yes, Love? Do you want something? Are you hungry?” The girl couldn't understand what Kaylon was talking about. He doesn't understand her either. So, what she did was, she faced Kaylon’s back again and began tracing those marks that she was curious about.

“You mean my scars?” Still unable to understand what Kaylon just said, she just nodded with enthusiasm. The anticipation of getting the answer she wanted was oozing.

“How am I going to explain this to you? Oh, well . . .” Kaylon pondered for a moment. But when he saw his sword, that's when he got an idea.

“Here. Look at this, Love. This is wood. And this one is my sword,” he explained, and started making small to large slices on the wood. Kaylon repeated it a couple of times before looking back at her.

When the girl understood what Kaylon was trying to say, she couldn't help but feel sad. She remembered that time when her place was flooded. Her mouse friend came to her, with a wound on the back. That's when she realized that the scars which Kaylon had were the same as those of her mouse friend. When Kaylon got the wound, he was painfully bleeding too.

“Uuu . . .” She groaned and licked Kaylon’s little scar on the chest. Thinking that it would help him feel better. Just like M and M’s way of healing themselves. Even she does the same.

“Yeah. Don't be sorry for me, Love. It's perfectly fine now. Just a scratch,” Kaylon said and kissed her forehead. The girl again tilted her head. Wondering about the act that the man just did. So, without a word, the girl then mimicked it but couldn't because she's too short for that act.

“Come here you, adorable thing. Have some fish. It's a bit burned . . . but I already took the burned part.” She could hear her stomach rumbling when Kaylon took the leaf cover away. The smell coming from the freshly cooked flesh was getting her system drunk.

“Wai—” Kaylon swallowed his words.

“Squeak!” The girl angrily squeaks, feeling like her mouth is badly hurting. It was like her mouth was being pressed together, and her jaw tightened to shred. She looked at Kaylon fiercely with contempt, but her eyes were wielding tears.

“Sh*t! It's still hot! Dri-drink this.” Kaylon was in a panic while looking at her. He couldn't get near her because she was still jumping and hissing like a complete lunatic.
