“Really, I’ll be fine.” Ava said for the umpteenth time to Kris as he dropped her off in her apartment the next day.

The journey was a quiet one, all three of them lost in their own thoughts. Brooke had barely gotten her son to eat, she was just as worried for him as she was worried for Ava. Kris made his way across the parking lot to his car, checking his watch for the time.
