Compassed by a fierce Park

I stared at him, puzzled. Should I tell him what I saw last night or should I keep it a secret? I thought because staring at his eyes, I wasn't sure how he would react if I told him that I knew his secret.

He didn't look like he was going to harm me but I didn't trust my intuitions either, if not, why did he bring me to this solitary place to ask this?

"Do you really think I am a beast?" He asked again and I blinked then drifted my eyes downwards with my forehead furrowed.

I didn't care what the outcome would be, it was better I told him the truth now than live in pretence. "Yes," I answered as I slowly brushed the side of my hair backwards, then i looked up to him again.

"Last night I saw Luther turn into a werewolf, I witnessed him change with my own eyes. Also the first day we met, I saw your eyes change to a yellowish colour and Luther left at your command. There is no other answer to it than that you are like him,"

He stared at me in silence for a while but there was no form of anger and I couldn't tell the emotions that were hidden in his eyes.

"You were right, I am a werewolf," he said.

I felt my heart race sporadically at his instant words. My perceptions were right. I was in love with a beast.

"Now you know why I never wanted you close to me. I am dangerous Alicia," he said again and for a while all I could do was stare.

"It doesn't matter If you are a werewolf or not," I said as he shook his head abruptly.

"You still don't get my point," He turned as he took some steps away from me.

"I understand, trust me. I know you are afraid to harm me but there is nothing to be afraid of," i persisted, still staring at him and after a few minutes in silence he turned to me again.

"Would you like to see what I truly am? I'm sure that you cannot stand the sight," he said as I recalled last night when I saw Luther turn. That was the most horrifying thing I had ever seen and I wasn't sure if I wanted to see that again. Especially not with someone I loved.

"It's Okay to say no, because I don't think you are ready,"

"Show me," I interrupted as he stopped his lips.

"Are you sure that is what you want?"

"Yes, Show me your other side," I answered.

"Okay, If you say so," He took another step backwards and while I stared, he unbuttoned his shirt as he dropped it to the floor then turned as he ran out of the open space into the forest.

I waited for a while with my eyes held at the exact spot he vanished and a few minutes later he walked out with his body sprouting out brown furs. I traced my gaze down his arm to his fingers which lengthen into claws then flitter my eyes to his face as I watched it changing to that of a wolf accompanied by his arms and limbs breaking to fit the shape of a four-footed beast.

A deep cold ran through my spine and I couldn't imagine how painful that process would be, especially having to do it for almost all his life.

I watched every scene until the transformation was completed and right before my eyes was a huge brown wolf, bigger than the size of a man and definitely large enough to rip the head of a man off with one bite.

I slowly approached him as I reached my hand up to the wolf's face, then ran my palm downwards through his neck to his body. I felt his skin and the warmth of his hairy fur and after a while I looked up to his gold coloured eyes.

"You are full of surprises Marcus," I muttered as the wind blew hard against us and he turned running back into the forest. I knew he was going to take back his human form so I waited patiently and after sometime he walked out of the woods with a neutral countenance then made his way towards his shirt which he had dropped on the floor.

Immediately after he wore his shirt he walked up to me then reached his right hand out.

"Come on, Let's take a walk," He said as I gently took hold of his hand and we headed into the woods.

The wind was still blowing while my hair flaunted backwards and his palm was wrapped with mine, it was exactly how I liked it but I was deeply curious at the reason behind his silence.

"Tell me about your pack," I broke the silence then turned to see his eyes still held forward. "I have heard that in a pack they work by various rankings so what position do you hold?"

"My father is the Alpha and I am the next in line to rule but that might not happen since I am about doing something that will break my father's trust and my mother's love," He answered, still holding his gaze forward.

"What do you mean?"

"I can't tell you now because you won't understand. it would be a lot easier if you just accept my request," he answered as I furrowed my eyebrows then looked forward.

"Tell me about Luther, what position does he hold in the park?" I asked to change the topic.

"Luther was the son of my late uncle, however he is no longer with us since he rebelled against the park and now was banished," He sprained his eyebrows then turned to me. "He can't be trusted and he will do everything to get back at my parents, which is why I have to stay close to them to avoid that from happening,"

His words were still turning back to his need for me to leave the island but I can't do that, not until I know the reason why I should.

I noticed him halt along the way as I turned to meet his conspicuous countenance as he drifted his gaze around the woods.

"What is the problem?"

"Shh…" He silenced me as he looked around and after a while he turned to meet me staring. "They are here," He whispered.

"What do you mean?" I asked with my unsteady eyes searching his.

"We are surrounded. Your life is at stake and you must stick close to me," His eyes were filled with worry as he turned again restlessly.

"Come with me," He said as he was about to take a step but stopped when we heard crunchy sounds ahead.

I looked at him then traced his gaze forward as I spotted three large back hairy werewolves approaching with their cruel eyes towards me.

My heart began to race while I stared and in a short time my ears caught sounds of deep rumbling behind as I turned around and realized we were surrounded by werewolves. They were of diverse colours but deep in their eyes was only one message and that was hate.

Their paws moved silently on the dried leaves like that of lions which were ready to take down their prey. I swallowed hard then parted my lips. My throat felt dry and wished I had listened to Marcus earlier because these beasts were more dreadful than lions.

"Don't be afraid, I won't let them touch you," Marcus said, holding my hand more firmly as I turned to meet his vigilant stare still held on the first werewolves.
