LOGINStella's pov
Before I could ask what he was talking about, Eli turned and walked away. My gaze remained fixed on his receding back until Alpha Mattias spoke, tearing my attention away from it. "Well then, the ceremony is over for us. We should be heading home. There's much you and I need to do tonight." The words sent a shiver down my spine, and the mere thought of mating with this man made bile rise to my throat. An older woman I recognised as his sister stepped forward, helping me to my feet. "Well, aren't you just a gorgeous thing. I wonder where my brother found this one." My cheeks flushed as I muttered a silent thanks, following them both out of the reception hall. "You can call me Anya." She smiled sweetly while her perfectly manicured nails dug into my wrist. A car was already waiting outside to take us to their villa nearby, and my heart raced the whole ride there. By the time we got out, I was reconsidering my choice to do this. Saving my family wasn't worth losing my dignity. Especially when they didn't even appreciate it. To them, this was duty. And my whole life was a pawn they had finally chosen to play. "Be careful, dear. I wouldn't want you to fall and mess your dress up before your big night." Anya rushed to help me get out of the car, her eyes twinkling. She helped me into the large mansion, guiding me to the twin steps that sat at the fourth wall of the lobby. "We just need to get you settled before my brother comes upstairs to have you." "Have me." The words echoed unconsciously, and she came to an abrupt halt. "Yes, of course. You have to consummate, or you aren't really mated. And unless you're mated, my brother cannot help your family." And there it was. The threat that had been looming over my head for weeks now. "Of course. Let's go." The bedroom was one of the most luxurious places my eyes had ever landed on. I'd seen houses smaller than this. Anya helped me to the bed, smiling sweetly. "Now, Mattias likes taking the dress off himself, so you don't really have to do anything. Just let him take what he wants, and you should be fine." "How many people have been here before me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper as my gaze shifted to the bed beneath me. Her lips twitched, forming a soft smile that could only be mocking. "You have to be more specific." "What?" "Do you mean brides or in general? Because that would include the mistresses, concubines, and whores, and I don't think I could count them if I tried." My jaw clenched with each word, and the only thing holding back my tongue was my teeth clamping down on it. She turned to leave, stopping when my fingers lashed out to grab the hem of her dress. "Problem?" "No." I shook my head. "I mean, yes. Aren't you supposed to give me something for the pain? It's my first time, and my mother said you would..." "Oh, the tea?" She cut me off. "You silly girl. It's not for pain. It's just to make you as fertile as possible, which we don't need. You don't need to have any children at all. Eli is already the heir. All you have to do is keep my brother pleasured and happy." Her hands reached for mine, slowly pulling mine off her dress. "Do your duty, Stella. I'd hate to have a reason to despise you. Before you make any choices, think about your family." A minute later, she was gone, the door slamming shut behind her. A lock clicked, the sound making me wince. My skin prickled, goosebumps rising across it when voices echoed through the door. I shot to my feet, knees trembling. My eyes darted across the room, searching for any form of escape that would get me away from him. Eventually, my gaze settled on the door, and a reckless plan began to form in my head. Screw my family. There was only so much humiliation my body could absorb because of them. And sleeping with Alpha Mattias just wasn't one of them. The voices drew closer, and my resolve strengthened. I lifted the heavy dress off the ground, kicking off my heels so running would be more comfortable. Seconds later, the door unlocked, and the white-coated metal was shoved open right as I charged forward. The person stepped in, but I was already moving too fast to stop. My body only came to a halt after slamming face first into Eli's chest.Stella's pov My body stiffened in that position before I shoved him off and dashed out of the room.Thankfully, the coast was clear, and the hallways were empty. He followed me out, a hand pressed against his chest. "You either have an obsession with touching my chest, or you actually hate me.""I think you can guess which is the right option. I'll go down first. You follow behind me later."He didn't say anything, so I assumed he'd gotten the message. Each step towards the stairs felt like walking to an execution. The glass had already been cleaned, and the stairs were neat.Music and voices came from the dining room, where the guests who had come back with us were all already settled. The moment I stepped through, they all stopped speaking, their gazes shifting to me.Anya smiled mockingly, approaching me. "So now you want to come down. You think we're just going to cook for you and serve you up like we're your maids?"The other omegas looked uncomfortable. One in particular, a sho
Stella's POVI considered it.That was the lowest blow to my pride yet. I considered following a man who was my stepson, regardless of age, to his bedroom."I'm going to say this one last time, after which I will be screaming my head off. Get. Lost."He sighed heavily before pulling his palm off the wall. "I see."I turned back to the door, then down the hall, dread washing over me."The way I see it, you have three options. Follow me. Stand here like a moron." His hand shifted to point back in the direction he'd come from. "Or go back to the lion's den."My arm ached from how hard it pulled at the doorknob, and Anya's voice echoing down the hall completely removed the last option. "Fine.""I knew you'd agree. Come on."He turned, walking in front of me without glancing back to see if I was even following.Till now, I wasn't sure what to think of him.I'd thought his whole personality was being childishly persistent, but the way everyone had stared when he'd gotten between me and Anya
Stella's POVThe broom crashed to the floor at my feet. My eyes remained fixed on it for a moment before shifting slowly to Anya."Don't sulk. If you won't be useful for my brother, you might as well be able to clean after yourself, right?"Those around laughed, and I could feel angry tears prickling at my eyes. My fingers closed into tight fists. Then Eli leaned down, right at my feet, and picked up the broom. He looked up at me with that same smirk that continuously tempted me to smack him.He stretched his hand out to me, and for a second, I thought he'd order me to clean. With his status, I wouldn't have had a choice but to swallow my pride and do it.Instead, he turned, still smiling as he handed the broom to Anya. "Clean it."Her eyes widened, her lip trembling. "What?""You don't expect a new bride to clean on her wedding night. It's bad enough Father left her, and now you want her to clean. Where's your heart?"The way he said it was nothing short of mocking, but it seemed to
Eli's povThe girl's eyes widened before she crashed back, her arms stretched out to me.On instinct, I caught her, pulling her forward and into my chest. We stood like that, frozen in place while her body trembled and she gathered her bearings. Then her palm planted itself on my chest and shoved me away. "Have you absolutely lost your mind?"My lips curved up into a playful smirk. "I think I might. I'm so insane I just imagined you throwing yourself at me.""I wasn't throwing myself at you." She snapped, her annoyance dangerously cute."You sure about that, princess? It looked like you were."I pulled in the heavy trunk my father had instructed me to bring over while he drank with his friends.Leaving his bride on her wedding day was such a typical thing for him to do. Then again, this little omega looked more interested in biting my head off than sleeping with him."What are you doing here? Didn't your father ever teach you to knock?!" Her voice grew louder and more offended.Absolu

Stella's pov "Do you, Stella Brown, take this Alpha to be your mate?"I stared up at the man before me, his face blurred by my white veil. The word "No" sat at the tip of my tongue, along with the stubborn hatred I felt for everyone responsible for me being in this position.Instead, what came out were the words my mother had carefully practiced with me while forcing me into this dress. "I do."The priest nodded, face blank. "And do you, Alpha Mattias, accept this young omega to be your mate?"Mattias smiled, revealing his yellow teeth laced with diamonds. "I'd be a fool not to.""Then, here before these people as witnesses and the moon goddess herself, I proclaim you mates. You may now kiss."My heart raced, almost like I was waiting for the dramatic event that would stop this. But there was nothing. This was my reality now.A single strand of grey hair fell into his face when he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. His tongue tried to force its way into my mouth, but my r
