We walked straight into a trap that had been placed in the forest.

It felt like whatever was in that forest already knew we were coming.

That morning, after Maya left, I went with Alpha Tate and a few of our warriors into the forest. We wanted to find where the strange herbs had come from and check if there were more of them.

“This area didn't seem like it was meant to be abandoned,” I said, looking around. The trees were thick, and the air felt strangely heavy.

Alpha Tate nodded. “No one has lived here for years. At least, that’s what the elders told me when I took over but during my father's rain they were more free with such information.”
