Confusing Hearts

I needed answers.

And the only ones who could give them to me were Liam’s parents.

As much as I hated the guy, his father had once been close to my own dad — long before the lies… before the secrets. If my half-brother was here, Liam’s father would know something. He had to.

After a quick shower, I didn’t bother putting on a shirt — the room was warm and my mind was racing too much to care. My hair was still wet, dripping down my neck as I headed downstairs.

That’s when I saw her.

Roseline.

She was sitting alone in the common room, reading a worn-out book, legs folded beneath her. A soft hum escaped her lips until my footsteps drew her attention. When she looked up and saw me… her eyes widened. Her cheeks flushed instantly.

I blinked. “Hey… you okay?”

“I— uh— yes.” She shut her book quickly, looking anywhere but at me. “You just… surprised me.”

Only then did I realize why.

I was shirtless.
