Chapter 16

Alpha Daniel’s POV

Adela took out candles, herbs, and all the other accoutrements necessary to create a circle, before seating herself on her mat. She lit them with the match in one of her many vials and began chanting, eyes closed and voice calm. Her chant was ancient in origin and spoke about a time when it had been possible to create life.

I stood by the side watching as soon she switched and began to chant in an unfamiliar language. A second later I looked up at the moon and stars as they shimmered into existence, like someone had flipped a switch and now there were hundreds of different colored balls, floating around in the night sky. It reminded me of the pictures my mother used to have when I was little.

The room glowed and the wind blew against my skin. Adela’s chanting became louder and more rapid but still, I just watched.
