Chapter 3: Wilder

Summer's POV

I went into a local tavern with Samantha. It was extremely well-known, and the neighborhood was rumored to be full with attractive men.

When Samantha noticed me outside the pub chatting to a random man, I apologized and said, "I'm sorry a random guy dragged me."

Sam reprimanded me, "I won't be surprised if someone kidnaps you one day."

"Relax, I can fight, remember? I saved you when we were just kids,"

"I'm just concerned and scared. We're both dead from your parents if something happened to you,"

"Yeah, I know, I apologized already and besides, he's cute,"

Sam muttered angrily, "Cute my ass. I didn't even meet him. He just ran off when he saw me."

But why did he care about my scar at all? Oh, and I neglected to ask him for his name. He fled for what reason? Then Luna? What exactly did he intend by that? I want to ask him so many questions.

We made up our minds to go home completely sober. He kissed my hand and then went, ruining my mood. At the very least, he should have driven me home.

I said, "Bye, Sam, thanks, and goodnight," and exited Sam's car. Because my parents are so rigid, they forbade me from driving my car.

I showered before getting into bed. I was still considering him. He kind of reminds me of someone, but I couldn't make out his face completely because I was so inebriated.

He reminds me of a person I met in the woods three years ago. I recognize the sound of his voice. They resemble each other, but I couldn't tell if it was the same guy.

*The following day*

Just reflecting on what happened last night caused me to nod off. I have class today, oh no. It was already nine o'clock when I looked at the time. Seven was when my class began. I got up from my bed.

"Ugh.. shit!" I exclaimed as I fell and bumped into my table, grabbed my towel, and hurried to the restroom. I had a quick 10-second shower, changed into my clothing, and then ran downstairs to the school.

Dad said, "Summer! eat your breakfast first."

I screamed, "No, Dad, I'm late! Why didn't you wake me up?" as I hurried to the door.

He yelled back, "I don't want to ruin your beauty sleep!"

Why was my father that way? They wanted me to do well in school, but they didn't want to disturb my sleep? He was so annoying.

Summer, forget it; let's simply sprint as hard as we can.

Someone said, "Need a ride, princess?"

He was the one at the pub the previous evening. Why was he in this place? at this time?

He had a big smile on his face while he was driving and was pretty chill. I thought I would never run into him again.

I said, "Yes, please," and hopped into the passenger seat.

As I stepped in, he inquired, "How was your sleep?" As if he didn't leave me there alone, this man seemed to be something unusual.

"Good, but I am so late so if you could please drive faster," I replied with anger.

"What's with the long face? huh," He asked while his eyes were fixed on the road, but I had to hold on to grab the handle because he was going so fast. Damn, I hate the way he drives.

I questioned hesitantly, "Why did you leave me last night?"

"Well, your friend fetched you."

"Okay, but you should at least introduce yourself to her, duh," I expressed.

He smirked at me and said, "Why would I? I wasn't interested in anyone but you." My cheeks started to heat up. I looked out the window and noticed that we had already arrived at school.

He murmured, "Were here, you should go to your class right now."

I inquired, "Are you going to pick me up?"

I'm not certain, but I want to see him once more. His chiseled cheekbones, clear and expressive eyes, flawless skin, and a well-groomed appearance made me want to stare at it the whole day.

"I'm not sure, I have some errands to do," he said.

I exited his car and made my way over to the school's entrance. Oh, no! I forgot to ask him again for his name. I dashed in front of his car as it was ready to leave. He nearly struck me. I could see his fear and disbelief. His window was rolled down.

He was so concerned that he asked, "Are you nuts? I almost hit you." He checked on me after getting out of the vehicle.

"Your name, I want to know your name,"

He flipped my forehead lightly and said, "Pshh.. you're going to kill yourself because of my name? Silly!"

He continued, "Call me, Wilder," before putting me gently on the sidewalk and getting into his car.

I nodded, he grinned and sped off. "Take care, don't do anything stupid, okay?"

After that encounter, I experienced stomach butterflies. This is an entirely new sensation for me. His name, Wilder, was really attractive, just like him.

I went on with the rest of my school day. I had missed three of my classes today, but that was okay. In general, I despise going to school. My parents wanted to complete their education, but they were unable to do so since Mom got pregnant before she was readily available.

I was eager to get home. I'm hoping Wilder reappears. After school, my closest friends made the decision to go to the same bar. Knowing that I was hoping to know if Wilder would be there today as well, I said yes right away.

"Wow, Summer, you seem to really like the ambiance of that bar, huh?" Sam said to me.

In reality, I don't. Besides, I don't drink alcohol that frequently, so I was just taking a chance.

We rushed to the pub after class was over. Since Sam had already been here a few times, the owner has become familiar with us.

We sat down at a free table a few meters from the door. I asked them to just get me a glass of water instead of the cocktails they had ordered.

Upon entering the premises, a man yelled, "Hide! There's a fight outside!"

After that, I felt a surge of frigid blood throughout my body. I peered out the window, where we could see a crowd of people running. Some of them were naked, covered in blood, and had bruises.

What in the world was going on? Wilder? He showed up, right?
