Gideon leaned against the cold wooden door, breathing hard as he had just finished a long run. The black onyx stone in his hand felt unusually heavy, as if it was hiding a secret ready to burst.

He stared at the black stone, his hands trembling. He believed Zevko's promise, but Zevko didn't know their enemies went beyond the council of elders or pack politics.

Gideon set the black onyx on the table, then went to the chest in the corner and pulled out an old wooden box.

His hands shook as he tou

Zevko's father let out a heavy sigh. He could tell his son was serious. As a former leader with plenty of experience, Alpha Valdas quickly sensed that something was wrong in the pack."Dad," Zevko called out impatiently."Yes, Zev. I'm just thinking, what is really happening in the pack?""What do you mean, Dad?""Zev, the pack is planning your wedding, the Luna coronation ceremony. But you didn't even know about the invitation. Isn't that strange?""Hmm, now I understand. The invitation must have been sent by the council of elders, right, Dad?""Yes. So you knew about it?""No, Dad. I only just found out from Alec's report." Zevko explained what was really happening with the council of elders."Unbelievable! How dare they!" Valdas snapped angrily. "So Thalia isn't your mate?!""Of course not, Dad. The Moon Goddess knows what's best for me.""They've already spread the news that Thalia is the next Luna Volkov. So who is your real mate, Zev?""She was born with the name Clavira. But th

Clara looked at Gideon, feeling confused. What should she do next? How could she even begin to avenge her parents' deaths?"Here's the thing," Gideon said, glancing at Clara and Zevko. "Right now, the most important thing is to settle things with the Volkov Pack""What does the issue with the Volkov Pack have to do with my revenge, Uncle?""Of course they're related, Cla. Maybe the Alpha can explain it better." Gideon turned to Zevko, signaling for him to explain."Clavira, you are my mate. The Moon Goddess has bound our fates. As Alpha, I need to mark you in front of the whole Pack and the council of elders at your coronation as Luna Volkov. After that, we can plan to attack the north and avenge your loss."Clara fell silent after Zevko finished. She tried to process everything. "Alright, Zev. I'll go along with your plan."Zevko smiled and kissed the top of Clara's head. "That's my Luna.""So what's your plan, Alpha?" Gideon asked. Zevko paused for a moment, then turned the question

Gideon took a deep breath before he finally spoke. “Alpha Magnus was a great and respected leader. The Lodur Pack was large, with many allies, especially after gaining a Luna who was far from ordinary. Vesvera made the Lodur Pack even stronger. Your father and mother were truly noble as Alpha and Luna.”Gideon paused, his voice trembling as he remembered the past. “With Vesvera as Luna, Alpha Magnus and the Lodur Pack became strong and unbeatable.”“So what caused Alpha Magnus to be defeated?” Zevko asked curiously.Gideon was silent for a moment, then sighed deeply. “There was one mistake Magnus made that the enemy finally exploited.”“What was it, Uncle?” Clara interrupted.Gideon didn’t answer right away. He looked back and forth at Zevko and Clara. “He trusted those around him too much.”“Do you mean someone betrayed Father?”“Yes. Betrayed by someone he considered like his own father.”“You mean, one of the Lodur Pack elders?” Zevko guessed. Gideon nodded slowly. “Damn! That’s so

Gideon fell silent, and Clara and Zevko waited for him to say something. After taking a deep breath, Gideon finally spoke. “Here’s the thing, Alpha. I’ve just received information that the elders are coming up with a plan…”Gideon trailed off, watching Zevko and Clara to see how they would react.“A plan? What kind of plan, Gid?”“They’re going to pressure you to appoint a Luna quickly.”“Of course, Gid. That’s why I’m here to fetch my Luna,” Zevko replied casually, reaching for Clara’s hand and kissing the back of it.“No, Alpha. They’re not talking about Cla. They want a woman of pure wolf blood. They won’t accept a Luna with human blood.”Zevko fell silent, his face growing serious. Clara stayed quiet as well, trying to understand what was going on.“I know, Gid,” Zevko replied indifferently. “A while back, when I was still in the city, those old men sent a messenger to deliver their message. They also sent that worthless she-wolf.”“What? So a woman came to see you when I wasn’t t

Zevko sped his car to the edge of the forest and circled the old, deserted Hallow cabin. He parked beneath a huge oak tree, out of sight of anyone passing by.Zevko paused, trying to calm his swirling emotions and hold back the longing he felt for his mate, who was training inside. Clara didn't know he was there because Gideon had blocked their mind-link to help her concentrate."Gideon. I'm at the castle gate. I'm here to pick up my Luna." Zevko immediately contacted Gideon through their mind-link."Sorry, Alpha. Not now. Cla isn't truly ready yet," Gideon replied, and Zevko let out a frustrated snort."Alright, then I'll wait.""Alpha, shouldn't you return to the pack? You've been away too long. I'll bring Clavira myself when she's ready.""No, Gid. I won't go back without my mate."Finally, Gideon gave in to the Alpha's stubbornness. "Alright, Alpha. But you must not disturb Cla.""Of course, Gid. I won't disturb her, but I'll encourage her. Maybe Thor will test her now and then, t

As the Alpha returned from the human world, tension filled Pack Volkov’s grand hall. The ancient stone chamber felt heavy and oppressive. The council of elders had called an emergency meeting to discuss their leader’s defiance. At the head of the council sat Elder Silas, the most traditional elder who always put pure-blood customs first."So, the Alpha flatly rejected the warning we sent?" Elder Silas’s deep voice echoed through the hall, filled with unmistakable displeasure. In the middle of the room, the pack’s envoy, who had been sent to meet Zevko in the city, bowed deeply. His body trembled and cold sweat ran down his neck as he remembered how frightening Zevko’s presence was."Yes, Elder Silas. Alpha Zevko even threatened to rip the mouth off anyone who dared meddle in his personal affairs or tried to find the human girl," the envoy reported, his voice trembling. "His Alpha aura was so intense that the wolf inside me was completely paralyzed."After hearing this report, a she-wo
