“So you can keep me hostage forever.” I whisper. Because that is exactly what will happen. You tell them your deepest darkest fears and they use that against you. They learn your weaknesses and use that against you. Everything can be used against you and I would make it as difficult as I possibly could.

He forces me back at arms length, his fingers curled tightly around my biceps to the point he is pinching my skin. “I am not one of those bastards that ran the auction house.”

I glance at his hands. There will be bruises there in a few minutes if he squeezes much more.

My looks were something I had once cared about. Though it had felt like a lifetime had passed since then when in reality it wasn’t even a whole year. A bruise would have made me livid because it was just another sign to my fathers pack that I wasn’t a real wolf.

I lost count of how much I spent on concealer when I started training. Permanently painting over my bruises when my body ached inside.
