Pregnant Luna

***Clair's POV***

He refused to listen, but rather walked over to where I stood.

“I know you hate me. I never should have kissed you,” he said the words, and his eyes suddenly lingered on my lips.

This can't be happening right now. My beating heart seemed like it was going to explode any moment from now.

“A… Alpha, if you don't have any messages to pass to Luna Roxanne, then I should get going,” I tried to evade him, but he didn't budge.”

“Are you mad at me?”

“I dare not.”

“I'm sorry about the kiss. It was unruly of me.”

Can he stop mentioning the kiss, for goodness’ sake! He did more than just kisses two weeks ago. Though he would never know, and this is a secret I promised to take to my grave.

“Alpha, since there's nothing else I would like to get back to my duties,” I didn't wait for a reply before I bolted away from him. I picked up my pace as I went to the laundry room.

Immediately I got in, I shut the door behind me. Goodness! This cannot continue. Ever since Roxanne married the Alpha, I avoided Cannon at all costs. This isn't just because he's married to the woman I serve, but also because Roxanne is quite dangerous.

She can make a mountain out of a molehill if she has to. I can't count how many maids had died by her hands simply because they served tea to the Alpha and stayed far too long in his office or in his bedroom.

To make her actions valid, she always lied about them stealing from her, so she could punish them as much as she wanted.

Stealing is a terrible crime in Crestville pack, and anyone found wanting is sentenced to death. For this reason, I always try not to get on her nerves.

Just as I was about to turn on the washing machine, so I could do my work, I suddenly felt light-headed and fell to the ground.

What's wrong with me? I tried to get up, but I felt terribly weak and the next thing I knew, my eyes grew weak, and I eventually passed out right there in the laundry room.

I woke up only to find myself lying on a strange bed. I recalled what happened to me and instantly went wide in shock. Immediately, I attempted to get up from the bed, only to fall back down.

“She's finally awake, Luna,” a lady announced.

Immediately I turned my gaze to the side only to see Luna Roxanne and another lady in the room. I've never seen this woman before, so I have no idea who she was.

“How are you feeling?” She asked me with a nice smile.

“I feel okay?”

“You feel okay? You almost killed my child! What did I tell you about doing chores?”

“Ch…child?”

“Oh, so you had no idea? It must be that you never wanted to carry a child from the very beginning and, hence, the reason you acted that way.”

“No, that's not true. If I had known I was pregnant, I never would have stressed myself regardless of what happened.”

“On what grounds should I believe what you've just said to me, Clair?”

“Because I'm truly loyal to you and I really want my father to be saved, Luna.”

She stared at me for a while, and finally, she breathed a sigh of relief.

“Doctor, now that I've gotten the assurance, I think it's time to make our next plan.”

Next plan? What is she talking about?”

“I know you must be wondering what this is, Clair. Since you're pregnant now. I'm going to announce to the Pack about my pregnancy as well. Doctor, how long is she gone, again?”

“She's two weeks pregnant, Luna.”

“Good! Now that you are two weeks pregnant, I have to announce to everyone that I'm two weeks pregnant as well. What do you think, doctor?”

“Perfect! This way, we'll follow a routine as the pregnancy advances,” the doctor explained. I was utterly lost here. How can she be pregnant when she's not? How would she be able to keep up this act?

These questions flooded me, but I can't find an answer to it.

“Clair, from now on, you are to pay close attention to the things you eat. I can't lose my child because of you!”

“I promise I'll take good care of my child.”

“Your child?” Luna thundered with an anger filled expression. At that moment, my heart began to beat fast, and I felt dizzy at the same time. I regretted what I said.

“What I mean is your child. I'll take care of him like mine,” I quickly corrected amidst fright.

“Uhm, Luna. At this point, we should try as much as possible not to go too extreme. Since she's in the early weeks of her pregnancy, she needs all the care she can get. She's frightened, and it's not good for the baby.”

Luna Roxanne lifted her head up with her hands placed on her waist.

“I think I need to start controlling my temper now. A baby is on the way and I can't afford to lose my child. Thank you for reminding me, doc.”

“You're welcome Luna. Well. Since that'd be all, we can as well call it a day. I'll be doing a weekly check on the baby, and you, Luna.”

“Oh, please do. We'll always be prepared for that.

I woke up the next morning to the banging of my door.

“Clair! Clair, are you in?”

I lazily opened my eyes and stared at the door. The voice was that of Tessa. What's going on?

“Open the door,” I said aloud and laid back on my bed. I was too tired to move even a muscle. The door to my room immediately flew open, and I saw Tessa run towards my bed with a smile on my face.

“Clair, why are you still in bed?” she frowned the moment she saw me lying down.

I didn't say a word to her, but rather curled myself in a comfortable position.

“What is it? You sound like something happened outside.”

“Yes, something huge has happened and all the workers in the pack are so happy?”

This made me open my eyes wide to stare at Tessa.

“What really happened?” I inquired.

Tessa smiled again and quickly sat on my bed.

“We all received good news this morning. After five years, Luna is finally pregnant!”

“What?” I asked, wide-eyed. At least I needed to act shocked, so Tessa wouldn't find me suspicious.
