Irene’s POVIn a split second, she kicked my leg causing me to stumble back a bit. But before she could make a run for it, I grabbed her ponytail, throwing her at the wall. As I tried to reach for her again, she grabbed my arm scratching me with her claws. I slapped her hard across the face and she fell against the desk pushing down the badge box. Lexie’s eyes rounded like saucers when it opened and nothing came out of it.
Irene’s POVWhen we arrived at the tent, Karin did a good job of staying put in it. Karson put Carl down quietly and we both tiptoed around the tent where the said spy was. The moment we sighted her, I leaped forward grabbing her by my claws to ensure she didn’t slip away. She screamed in effect, struggling to break free. “Let me go! Let me go!”
Irene’s POVThe air in the room felt heavy. Lucas and Ken had a serious look on their faces. Whenever it comes to organizing defense plans, we do it with every focus that we can muster, knowing we can’t afford for anything to go wrong. Lives can be taken in a snap. And judging by the extent to which this is going, nothing can be missed. I had no other choice but to inform the elders and the units fighting in the war about the lucky escape we just had with our water supply.
Each step Lexie carried towards the packhouse was heavy. Her mind raced through the right words and excuses she could give. She chewed hard on her tongue, her heart thumping viciously. She had started the day in high spirits, hoping to hear the unfortunate news about the dark hollow pack. But to her surprise, her emissary didn't return. As the day turned into night, she had to accept the dreaded truth. He won’t be coming back. Leaving her no other choice but to break the news to the one she had plotted with. Lexie clenched her fist by her side, this is all Irene’s fault. He
Irene’s POVSince we were aware of Lexie’s plan. I thought the best thing to do was not act loudly. We would be quiet and act like she could have her way while we watch out for her plan to play out. Ken and Karson were the ones who initially offered to watch the water source with me after I explained my plans to them. Lucas had gotten a slight fever and needed enough rest.
Irene’s POVWe all turned to where the yell came from, and it turned out to be Carl and Karin. I cursed inwardly. This isn’t a good experience for children. Seeing the adults around them bicker at the slightest thing. “Why are you two fighting?” Karin questioned Karson and Lucas.
IRENEI could barely keep still on the way home. My legs shook and bounced off the car floor as different bad thoughts crossed my mind.I could picture their crying faces and imagine them looking for their mummy. I hoped Karin wasn't talking back and Carl wasn't crying his eyes out.Like every other n
KARSONIrene was crying again, her shoulders trembling greatly and the sight broke my heart. She was a strong woman and seeing her crumble like this had my feet moving and my arms spreading to embrace her.It warmed my heart that she even let me and she hugged me back-- so tight. I patted her hair as
IRENEMy thoughts went dead and my heart stopped at the news. I tried to make sense of what I was hearing. Did I mishear?"What did you say?" I turned my gaze to Karson who looked very uncomfortable, biting his mouth and gripping the wheels."I said the kids are at… Lexie's."I looked out the window, wa
KARSONI watched Irene storm out of the house without another word. Alpha Lucas tagged along with the kids clinging to his body like they couldn't get enough of him. The little ones seemed to share an attachment to him.I didn't want her to leave just yet, but after that scary speech to Lexi who hadn'
