Clarissa
I wondered how my twin had the energy to get ready like a diva and threw her a skeptical look, “You know I won the bet, right? You are going to drop Kyler’s topic.”
Talia was applying eyeliner when she asked, “Just what is your problem with him? What did he ever do to you?”
“He is a show-off and there are rumors he got some girl pregnant by forcing himself on her. I am just doing my sisterly duties.”
Talia shrugged off my concern, “Girls are more than willing to let him impregnate them as long as they can secure a chance to be his luna.”
“Whatever. I just don’t like him. Find somebody else.” I got up and studied my reflection in the mirror.
I was dressed in a backless tank top and jeans while Talia was wearing a short dress that perfectly hugged her curves.
She had done a good job of taming my wild hair that now fell down my shoulders in waves. I looked fine but she truly looked like a diva.
I looked at the clock and it was almost time to head to the party. We got into the car dad had gifted us on our last birthday and went to the pub.
We came of age at sixteen but we awakened our wolves at eighteen and some were late bloomers who even awakened their wolves in their twenties or never did though those cases were rare.
Neon lights sparkled in the background, and bold letters shining in a bright blue color read “The Madhouse.”
I let out a breath and let my sister drag me inside. The bouncers who were also werewolves let us in without hesitation.
We were the daughters of Alpha Hayden and Luna Madeleine of the Blue Moon pack, the strongest pack in the north after all. We were also the only twin pair of siblings in the area so we were hard to miss.
As soon as the big doors opened, the noise of foot-tapping music and the scent of liquor hit my nose.
Talia and I walked in as we tried to find our friends amidst the crowd. The Madhouse was a pub frequented by almost every other kid of our community and if rumors were to be believed, also by other supernatural creatures though I had yet to come across one.
My eyes fell on Kyler who was sitting in a booth with his friends. A girl was sitting on his lap and practically licking him in an effort to make him kiss her.
He did not thwart her advances and his hands rested on her waist while his eyes crinkled at a joke one of his friends had cracked.
Kyler waved at us and I was going to pretend that I did not see him but Talia rushed toward him like a moth to a flame, leaving me with no choice but to follow her.
Talia extended her hand towards him to shake it, much to the girl’s chagrin who was sitting on his lap.
“Hello, Kyler” Talia said sweetly and he acknowledged her.
“Hey there…Tania, right?” He asked and the girl sniggered at that.
Talia’s face fell but she recovered quickly, “It’s Talia. Nice to meet you.”
He gave her a wink and replied, “Oh sorry. It's a sin for me to get the name of a beauty such as yours wrong.”
I could feel Talia’s heartbeat galloping with the strength of a hundred horses at that compliment. I tried hard not to roll my eyes and Kyler’s gaze fell on me.
“Hey there, you are her sister right?”
‘As if you cannot tell that by looking at our faces,’ I thought in annoyance but managed to say, “Clarissa”
I was glad that his attention didn’t stay on me for long but then it shifted to Talia. I also noticed that he was still holding onto her hand and my idiot sister had not let it go either.
“Miranda, how about you make some space for Talia,” he said to the girl who was wearing a purple jeweled hairpin and sitting on his lap.
To my horror, Talia happily replaced Miranda who stomped away, shoving me in the shoulder hard on her way out.
“Hey, watch out” I snapped and the group broke out into a laugh. I was glaring holes into the back of my sister’s head who was completely enamored by that jerk.
‘So much for winning the bet’ I thought and decided to go get myself a drink. I was soon going to be of age anyway and there was nobody who would say no to the daughter of the strongest alpha in the north.
“I’ll be at the drinks section if you need me,” I informed Talia and walked away. I could not stand and watch him roam his hands all over my sister either way.
As I stormed towards the drinks section, someone bumped into me, nearly making me fall to the ground.
“Watch where you are going, weirdo,” I called out to the boy who had bumped into me but he didn’t even mutter an apology.
His hands went behind my back and lightly brushed my waist to steady me. His fingers touched my bare back only for a minute but I felt a spark jolt through my skin.
He was wearing all black from head to toe and had I not seen a person, I would have almost imagined that I had walked into a wall. My hand had rested on his black leather jacket but I had felt all stones and bricks underneath them.
He was buff, he was smoking hot and he was smiling at me. And he smelled like the forest and mint.
For a second, I feared that he was going to make a cheesy comeback or scowl but he merely helped me get back on my feet, winked at me, and muttered, "I'll take that as a compliment"
He had clear blue eyes that complimented his face and the black color that he wore only made the color of his eyes look a deeper shade of blue. I had only seen his face for a minute but boy was he handsome...and his touch had been smoldering hot.
His fingers had only grazed my bare back for a second and he had quickly let go of me and continued to walk ahead.
How would it feel to have his hands on me a little longer? To have him undress me?
I thought and scolded myself. What was I thinking?
Wild images of how he would take me to bed began churning through my mind and I shook my head. Maybe, I didn’t need to drink tonight as I was already high.
My eyes flitted to him and no wonder, a lot of people were turning around to look at him, girls crashing into him in hopes of initiating conversation, forgetting the boys they had come to the pub with.
I only looked at him stupidly as he walked away and another girl bumped into him and he caught her in time to break her fall.
She was curvy and was wearing a tight red dress, if it was a dress, to begin with. Her neckline was deep and she took his hand and brought it towards her chest, pressing it into her boobs while muttering an apology….a heartfelt apology based on the way she was holding his hand close to her heart.
He shook his head and said something that made her blush.
She giggled and he smiled at her before turning to look my way, not at all surprised to see me still staring at him.
He then gently freed his hand from her grip as he looked at me for a second longer than necessary.
Again, he winked and I immediately knew what he must have thought of me. That I must have bumped into him intentionally, just like the girl had thrown herself at him too.
'What an asshole' I thought.
ClarissaI was growing angrier by the minute and decided to go to the washroom instead to wash my face and calm down. My phone rang and I picked it up.“What are my two princesses doing?” Dad’s voice asked me and I immediately tried to relax myself.“We are at the Madhouse dad, Talia dragged me here,” I grumbled.Dad only chuckled, “You should try to make friends, Clary. Anyways, I tried Talia’s phone but she didn’t receive my call so I gave you a ring. I and mom have to go to the west to discuss and renew our accords for the pack treaty.”I frowned, “When are you going?”“We will be leaving in an hour and returning in a week or so. While we are gone try to behave and return home soon tonight, ok?”Dad said and I replied, “Yes dad”“Also ask them to not forget practicing the runes” I heard mom shout at him from a bit further away.My father laughed and said, “They don’t need to be reminded about that, right?”I replied in a low voice, “Ok dad. Come back soon”“Love you and take care
Clarissa “Shit” I muttered and stepped out of hiding. I walked towards the two and Silas chuckled in a rather dangerous way, his eyes glinting with malice. “You sure she is with her? She looks rather pale and weak to me.” He asked as I walked towards them. Now, I could see the room clearly and gave a quick scan of the place to see where were the nearest exits. It looked like a store room with piles of discarded broken chairs, ropes, and other forgotten things. The only source of illumination was a big bulb that hung down from the ceiling right above Miranda’s head. The rest of it was dark. There were rectangular windows high above near the ceiling that I could not reach and only a single door, the same one we had walked in through. I shivered despite not feeling cold. Dacre had gone completely silent as he saw me step out of my hiding spot. He threw a lingering gaze on me, his eyes raking me from bottom to top and then quickly dismissing me as a tissue paper. I felt his gaze sta
ClarissaDo I worry about taking the life of someone or do I revel in the feelings bubbling inside of me? Dacre had taken me off guard and despite my multiple protests kept advancing toward me.My first instinct was to run away, to fight him, and to even bite hard into his hand holding the dagger. But, all of them vanished when he did the unexpected and leaned in to kiss me.Of all the things I would have imagined him to do to me, this was the least. I should have protested hard, should have kicked him where the sun didn’t shine. But the moment his lips touched mine, it was as if all logic flew out of my head. There was something about him that was odd…different. Like he was different from the rest of us.Whatever this ‘different’ meant! When his fingers brushed my bare back, I shivered, not due to fear but due to pleasure. That was definitely not how a killer would touch his prey. There was something sensual about the way he touched me. At least I hoped so.Because the emotions I n
Clarissa I took a moment to steady my raging heart, adjusted my top, and then stepped out of the door. When I did, I was surprised to see that there was practically nobody in the pub save a few stragglers who were still drinking or passed out. How did everybody leave so soon? I wondered and looked for my sister. Damn, I had forgotten everything when I was with Dacre. The main doors were locked on the inside and a few waiters were waking up the passed out people to make them leave through the back door. I wildly looked around and saw a door on my far left falling shut slowly. It was on the far end of the passageway that I had entered to follow Dacre earlier. I rushed towards the door and flung it open before stepping outside. The cool wind splashed into my face and I saw that the path led to the forest. I again looked around, not knowing where to go next. My instincts told me that I should head home as Talia had either left with Kyler to have sex with him or been the good girl and
Clarissa“Just what in the name of Goddess is going on?” I heard a voice but couldn’t quite pin the owner to it.I was standing on the ground, transfixed at the sight of the girl who had just died in front of me and stated that I was the killer. The two girls who were Miranda’s friends began shrieking and howling loudly as more and more people began to approach us.Gasps followed murmurs and those followed stares and accusations as both the girls I didn’t quite recall the names of, began to loudly wail and tell everyone of how I had taken the life of their best friend.I was too dazed to even move and for a long time, I only kept staring at the dead body of Miranda that was soaked in blood.Dacre and Silas exchanged a look upon understanding how the issue had blown up. A look passed between them but I was too busy to pay attention to them.A chill ran down my spine at the thought of my parents seeing the body of the dead girl and how they would react upon knowing that I was a suspect.
ClarissaTalia’s bickering with Silas had taken my attention away from Dacre and the fact that we had just witnessed a murder. But I recalled it the second my eyes fell on the two girls who were Miranda’s friends again. They were sitting rigidly and whispering to each other.Probably they were trying to ensure that we all rot in jail forever. The car’s ignition took a few minutes to start but I was hyperaware of the fact that I was sitting on the lap of the guy I had kissed half an hour ago.Even his legs felt like bricks to me and I clutched to the headrest of the front seat so as to not slide down. The car took a while to start and the tall man cranked the ignition a bit too hard, throwing me on Dacre’s chest.“Ouch” I groaned as my head bumped with the ceiling of the car. He placed his palm on my back and pushed me forward as I struggled to get up.“Sorry fellas, you have a bumpy ride ahead” The patrol guard stated as he began driving the car like a madman. Before getting in the ca
Clarissa After he said that line, he simply stepped away from me and began walking inside. I quickly looked around but thankfully nobody had seen him say that to me. Somehow, his voice and his words had reassured me. I was not sure why I felt like I should believe him but in the brief second that our eyes had met, I had felt that if anybody could pull me out of this mess, it was him. After all, he was the one to have put me in that in the first place. ‘...but I want something in return’ What did he want from me? Should I trust him enough? While I was lost in thoughts, Talia straightened up and we all entered the large hall that had rooms on either side that served as offices of various employees. The large hall had a waiting area with rows of chairs on either side and a small passage in the center to walk toward the reception. The guard was directly taking us to the council head’s office when a woman in her earlier thirties stepped out of the office hurriedly. She was wearin
ClarissaDacre nodded his head. “Yes mam”Mrs. Bryant straightened her posture and smoothed her hair.“By any chance, is your father going to visit the council? We have heard that the rogues are getting pesky in the south so he might visit the council head to discuss the matters in detail.”Dacre rubbed his chin thoughtfully, “I am not sure mam, but I will check with him. I will also ask him to recommend you.”Mrs. Bryant began glowing like a candle flame. Being recommended by an alpha to the council head worked wonders for an Advisor’s career. She could be fast tracked on a promotion and also receive additional perks but most of all her social standing would elevate to a whole new level. While Talia looked at me and then back at the lady again, Dacre fell silent.Alfred came rushing in and he was almost dragging John along with him. “Mam, I brought John, you may note his statement.”Mrs. Bryant only gave him a frustrated look and uttered, “The case is almost solved. But yeah, I hav
