Chapter Two

"Are you sure you don't want to come to the concert?", Avan asked as he took a seat on the bed.

"I'm fine, just be careful. I don't want you to get into a fight with a wolf", I say but he just shrugged me off.

"I'm not scared of them Lin, deep down we all have feelings which means we are mortal. They aren't Gods and no one messes with my sister and gets away with it. He's lucky I didn't punch him".

I kept quiet after that. Avan wasn't a hot-head but when it comes to family he definitely can be. When I was younger, before I got my hand that is, I use to get bullied by older kids. It was tragic but he was always there to protect me. I didn't know what I would do without him.

"So what are you gonna do when am gone? Mom and dad isn't here and I don't want to leave you alone".

"I'm not a baby, I can take care of myself. Besides I was planning to watch 'The Wicther Season Two' on N*****x. I'll be fine", I say as he reached out and gave me a hug. He pulled away before leaving the room. I turned the room light off before cuddling under my blanket and turning on the TV.

I heard the from door closed and then it was official, I was home alone. My mind drifted back to what happened yesterday. I'm sure if Avan had lost his temper a bloody fight would've happen. But it was none of us fault since Zyair was the one who touched me first. It was weird because we've never talked and all of a sudden he approached me.

Halfway through episode one I was beginning to feel hungry so I paused the show and left the room. I made my way downstairs and to the kitchen. Tonight was a full moon so dad decided to take mom to an outside movie. I guess there was nothing better than laying on soft grass, enjoying the cool breeze and watching a wonderful movie with the one you love.

I went into the fridge and took the box of milk and poured some in a cup. I decided to heat up a slice of overnight pizza since I didn't have any idea what else to eat. As I took the pizza from the microwave I was startled by a sound coming from outside the window.

I started to shiver as I slowly placed the plate on the table and walked up the window. This may be a bad idea but I did it anyways. I moved the curtain and opened it. At first I didn't see anything but then I heard the sound again. I looked closer and sure enough there was a small puppy sitting there on the lawn.

I smiled a bit because of how small and cute it was. lt was probably hungry and where was its owner? I shifted back the curtain and took up the pizza. I left the kitchen and went towards the door praying that this wasn't the worst idea on the planet. I opened the door and stepped out on the front porch. The place was dark and the only light was from the moon.

I came off the porch and out onto the lawn. I watched as the puppy ran up to me. There was something off about it and I figured it out when I crouched down. It wasn't a puppy, it was a wolf cub. Does that mean the mother was close by? I checked my surroundings but I couldn't see anything in the trees.

I sat on the step and held the cub in my hand. It was making small noises and wagging its tail. It had a fluffy brown color and big brown eyes. I found myself smiling at how cute it was. I took up the pizza and placed it at its lips but it didn't seem to want it. All of a sudden there was a loud howl and then the cub jumped from my hands.

It looked at me as if it was trying to tell me something but I couldn't comprehended. It ran a few inches from me and waited. Did it want me to follow it? I rubbed my head as I thought about what was really happening. So I was in the presence of a wolf cub who seemingly wants me to follow it into the woods for an unknown reason.

"Ok, I'm going to get my jacket and flashlight and be right back ok?", I say as I stood up and rushed into the house. This was the dumbest thing I think I've ever done. But something tells me this was worth it. I went to my room and pulled on my jacket and took up my small flashlight.

I went back downstairs and sure enough the cub was there waiting patiently. When it saw me its eyes lit up before it took off. I just hope no one gets back before I do cause I'd be in a lot of trouble. I followed after it making sure to keep on the lookout for anything. I was now nearing the woods and I thought this was the time to actually turn back.

But I didn't. I couldn't.

There was another howl and that's when I started moving faster. The cub was just running so smoothly while I had to be dodging tree branches and jumping over vines. There was another howl but it was so loud which meant we were getting closer to whatever it was.

The cub slowed down and so did I. There was a whimper and thats when I saw what was making the howls. It was another wolf. But this one was laying on its side panting heavily. I watched as the cub went to its side and laid down. It was a mother wolf. When I got closer I realized that she was badly hurt. Her side had a large cut and she was bleeding horribly.

I didn't know what to do. I was in the middle of the woods with an injured wolf and no way of getting help. I took a step towards her but she growled and I stepped back. She needed some serious help. Whatever attacked her did her badly. Was the attacker still nearby? I looked around but I couldn't see anything but trees.

"Ok, am not going to hurt you. I'm going to see if I can help you", I say as I held my hands up and took another step. When I was close enough I crouched down and looked at the injury. I took off my jacket and fold it and placed it on the wound. She growled from the pain before it turned into slight whimpers. I really felt sorry for her.

I stood up and looked around as I tried to figure out what next to do. I looked back in the direction I came. I could get my first aid kit at home but I didn't know how to treat a wolf injury or even the right direction to go in!.

"Grrrr!"

I turned around immediately and saw three wolves approaching us. My heart started beating rapidly as I took a step back but my foot hit something and I fell. I groaned when I realized that I hit my head on something. My vision started to get blurry and my eyes were closing down. The last thing I saw was a figure standing over me before there was complete darkness.

I opened my eyes slowly before sitting up. My head hurt and so did my feet. I blinked constantly for a few seconds as I tried to adjust to the light. I looked around and realized that I was in a small room. There were a few pieces of antique furniture and also some frames with different pictures.

-Wait!.

I jumped up from the bed as I remembered everything that happened. I was trying to help a wolf and then some other ones appeared and I must've tripped and fallen. I went towards the door but it was locked. This wasn't happening.

Was I captured?

Oh no!.

There was some rambling at the door and I went back to the bed before it was opened. I watched as a guy came in without any shirt on. He was tall and thick in body size and had a pair of green eyes. His face was stern and his lips were in a thin line.

"Follow me, The Alpha wants to see you".

If my heart could leap from my chest and run away, it definitely would have. I was going to meet the Alpha. The king amongst wolves. I stood up slowly and made my out the door. He took the lead as I followed behind him.

God help me.
