Two days later, Bryson called to let me know that he had secured the mines and wanted me to go and check them out so that he could hand them to me, and I would return his son. I thought it was a trap because it was too soon. Those bandits couldn’t have surrendered their precious mines so easily. No one knew exactly how much gold and other minerals were in those mines, but the bandits had made a lot of money since settling there so it was safe to assume they were very profitable. Bryson had a very large army, but it was hard to believe that he had gained The Aldridge Mines in such a short time.

“If anything goes wrong, we’ll kill your son.” I warned, after he assured me that he was telling the truth and wasn’t trying to trick me. We talked at length and I sent my mine over there to find out what was going on. They returned with a positive message so I decided to go and check it out with my beta Alexander and David, my most trusted guard plus a few others.
