I opened my eyes, taking in a deep breath. For some reason, the fact that I was still at the Moon wood’s pack brought a level of comfort that I did not even expect.

I turned, my heart almost jumping out of my mouth as I came face to face with Ronan as I was not expecting him to be that close to me.

“You are up” I nodded, backing up a bit to create more space between us. Something in the way he spoke terrified me. “I tried the herbals I was given to lessen the effect of the mark” He said, looking me straight in the eye.

I nodded, for some reason, fear gripping my body more than I would have liked to admit with the way he looked me in the eye.

“I..” I gulped, running my tongue along my bottom lips to keep it moist. I did not miss the way his eyes followed that movement, before he looked back at me, but I kept myself calm. “I really do appreciate all you do… really, I am so grateful” I said, my voice was nothing more above a whisper.

I watched as his eyes softened a bit, before they hardened again, looking at me those eyes that held a bit of distrust in them.

“…not human” the words from when I was passing out rang in my head again, making me take in a deep breath.

“The thing is…Anya” He said, his body becoming more and more rigid. “The potion works well on humans, as well as wolves” I was quiet.

My palms becoming sweaty as they sat in my lap for a while. “Do you… Do you have something to say about that?” He said, looking at me with expectant eyes.

I looked away from him. “If you don’t mind” I said, suddenly finding my voice. “I would like to rest up if that is all” I needed him far away, as soon as possible.

He was… for lack of better words, shocked. He had not expected me to act that way. “Are you even hearing what…”

“It is no fault of mine that you or whoever it was do not know to make a proper potion and now you blame me?” My heart was beating wildly at this point, hoping that he would not notice it. “I am grateful that you actually took the time to help me, but I would not be insulted or disrespected. I am human and don’t there is nothing anyone can do to take that away.” He blinked once, then again, looking at me with wide eyes, totally at a loss for words.

“I am… I am absolutely sorry, I did not mean….” I shook my head, cutting him off.

“If you would please just leave” I said to which he nodded almost immediately. Rushing out of the room, not wanting to upset me any further.

I let out a breath as he closed the door behind him. My hands shook as I sat all alone in the pack clinic.

What if he decided to do some digging? I mean it was not even hard to find my family.

I took in a deep breath, letting my mind wander for a bit to calm my nerves, which I started to regret as soon as my mind did indeed wander.

As soon as I shut my lids, my mind went back to the rumour were they said that the Alpha of this pack had burned a witch alive. The same Alpha that was now my mate. My eyes shot open, panic filling my chest as my mind went back to when he was about to ask me what I was.

“Did he know?” I asked, looking at the door.

I mean he did enter my living room. There was no way he would not have seen a thing or two that would have given it away.

“This is just some twisted joke” I muttered, tossing and turning on the bed as I tried to look for a comfortable spot.

“I’ll be fine” I muttered to myself, closing my eyes to sleep.

I bit my lip, a cooling sensation rippled through my body from my mark, making it almost impossible to breath. A moan tore from my lips as my hands moved as though they were a mind of their own. “I knew you missed me” 

‘That voice’ I thought, snapping my eyes open to meet those familiar eyes that I always dreamed of.

“N..no” I said, a feeling of betrayal washed over me before the disgust had started to settle in.

“No? I thought you would be more excited than that” he said, pouting at me. I felt my skin crawl.

“There is no way…” I said, looking at the window before my eyes went to the slightly opened window. I would have sworn that they were closed before i had drifted off to sleep.

“Oh cut the act, you know you missed me. I don’t see the reason you are acting like you don’t want more of were that came from” He smiled. He actually had the audacity to smile at me.

I felt my eyes blur. Pure hatred filling my chest.

How did he get here? And most importantly, how dare my body betray me like this?

“It’s time to go home, don’t you think? You have caused enough chaos as it is” It felt as though the world was slowing down around me. I wanted, no needed to put the pillow across my face, either to scream in it, or smother myself till I was no longer breathing. The look on his face was no longer playful. It had turned serious, which shook me all the more to my core

“I need you to leave, if Alpha Ronan…” He snorted, looking at me like I was stupid “You think he would accept you for the annoying little bastard you are? I am honestly doing you a favour, and you know it. So why don’t you be a lamb and come with me, before things get more dramatic than this.”

I looked at him, my gaze hardening by the second. “Or what will you do?”
