Akira's heart raced at the question. She wasn't willing to reveal her true identity. Not only was she from the East, but she was also the Alpha princess of the Eastern pack—the last surviving member of her pure bloodline. During the seven years she had stayed with Dominus, she learned resilience and how to be very calculative. She swallowed hard, choosing to ignore Beth's question again. Beth might be nice, but Akira couldn't trust her.

Beth tried again, forcing an awkward chuckle. “Oh, I get it. Yours might be more heartbreaking than you want to talk about, and that's fine.” She shook her head softly in approval. “You can come to speak to me whenever you feel like it.”

Akira blinked once. That was all. No reply. She didn't trust Beth, even if she had been nice to her from day one, when she was dumped in the slave quarters.
