IRIS

The wind was crisp. Too crisp to be indoors. Trees swayed with the breeze, carrying the strong scent of pine and mud.

The snap of a branch made my head turn sharply and my breath seized.

It was that… creature.

Red eyes, hollowed neck, posture too haggard to be a man… or wolf. Its low snarl reverberated through my spine and the creature lunged.

My scream barely left my chest before I was jerked back to my room. The harsh rays of sun cut through my curtains, a stark contrast to the darkness

ASH“Do you genuinely expect me to believe that you have no idea where you came from?”Kade’s shed was smaller than I remembered… or maybe it had shrunken over the years we used to sneak here when we were younger. Unease rolled off me in waves, the familiar scent of fresh soil mixed with pine hanging in the air.The scrawny girl lifted her chin, fire burning in her odd violet eyes. Just like-I forced the thought down before it could fully form, but wasn’t quick enough to stop my chest from constricting.“I already told you,” she huffed. “I woke up in this weird place that looks straight out of a nineties movie with even weirder people- erm-“ she snorted. “Werewolves.”Kade who had been watching in silence all this while finally pushed off the wall, jaw tightening. “This isn’t a joke.”“I know, I know.” The girl said quickly. “It’s just… really abstract.”“You’re a human.” Ryker cut in sharply like he had better things to do than interrogate the strange girl who just happened to stumb

IRISA low growl vibrated through the air, making the hairs on my skin stand straight. My pulse hammered against my chest, my wolf growling, unease doubling.“Ash!”The sound of my voice echoed but no response. I stumbled back when I caught a branch snapping beyond the tree line. Loose rocks fell over the edge of the cliff behind me, making me catch myself. What the hell was going on?I was in my room. And now I’m… in the woods just outside the pack houses? How-A figure lunged before I could complete my thought process, it’s blood red eyes swaying like headlights and in that moment, it didn’t feel like I was experiencing it anymore, it was more like I was watching the scene from outside of my body. The moonlight caught my attacker, the same one I’d been seeing in my nightmares but way worse. My stomach clenched tightly, my body moved, the creature sank his teeth into my arm.“No!” I screamed but my voice barely reached the air.“Iris!” I froze, my head snapping toward the sound. Ash

IRISWe’d moved this conversation to my room, mostly because I didn’t want anyone else to listen in. The house was empty, as usual but that didn’t stop me from being overly cautious. But the change of scenery didn’t dilute the tension. It hung low in the air between Ash and I, threatening to snap at any second. I leaned forward to the edge of my bed, meeting his intense gaze with a blank one. He was hiding something. Underneath that annoyingly calm expression, I knew he was.“What happened the night before?” I asked calmly. The wooden floor creaked beneath his boots as he shifted his weight.“I already told you.” His voice stayed calm. “I found you in the woods and-““Brought me back to your room,” I completed with a huffed breath. “Nursed me back to health. Yeah. You said that already. “What I don’t remember is everything before it.”“I don’t remember how I got there. I don’t remember why my clothes were covered in blood. I don’t remember why it feels like someone ripped pieces out

The harsh rays of sun cut through my curtains, a stark contrast to the darkness in my nightmares.I groaned, pushing myself upward. That nightmare… I hadn't had it in a long time since I started using the incense. It didn’t feel like it was working anymore. My head throbbed, my eyes burned and my throat felt raw, like I hadn’t used it in days.I forced myself to blink away the haze, swinging my legs off the bed. My bare feet padded against the wooden floor, straight to my bathroom. I paused, glancing at my reflection.Even with the sweat beads forming on my forehead, dark h

IRISThe chaos outside was muffled by the walls of the room. My knee wouldn’t stop moving, my pulse pounding, a thousand thoughts infiltrating my mind all at once. We’re under attack. But none of the boys seemed as surprised or furious as they usually were. They knew something and, as always, were keeping them from me. Rage slithered up my spine as my head snapped to Ryker. He’d been standing in front of the door since we got here, his eyes hadn’t left the door either. He’d tell me if I asked… I think.Ryker was looking for my approval right now. He wouldn’t want to ruin that.“We can’t just sit here and do nothing.” I said finally, pushing off my seat.Ryker's gaze didn’t move but his jaw ticked once. “We’ll go when Kade says it’s safe.”I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. “I didn’t realize an alpha took orders.”“Nice try, Iris.” He says dryly. “…but your ass is staying put until I’m certain that you’re not going to get your head blown off clean from your shoulders.”I fough

KADEMy wolf growled, agitated but I kept my expression calm, turning to Ash. The smell of smoke was already starting to curl into the air, mixing with the panic of my subjects.Rage flooded my veins.First Sussie now this?“Go to the gates,” I said tightly, rolling my shoulders. “I’ll check the borders. We’ll be-“Scattered footsteps echoed from down the hall in urgency. Timothy ran toward us, face drained of blood as his eyes bounced off the both of us.“The explosions,” he said in one haggard breath. “There was one at the holding cells.”I frowned, feeling those shadows I’d forced into the darkest parts of my mind creep in. Ash stiffened beside me.“Grayson is gone.” He finally said, “and so is Christopher.”My vision blurred for half a second, my jaw clenching so hard I thought my teeth would grind to dust. “Check the perimeter.” I forced out, already moving. “Someone is in our territory. Someone who isn’t meant to be. Report back as soon as you find anything.”Timothy’s gaze flic
