Chapter Two

Alpha Dennis couldn't be more grateful that although they could stare at him, they couldn't come to him to criticize him for not bringing along someone.

He stood up and moved towards the couple when he found them alone.

"My warmest congratulations." He said, breaking them away from their hug.

Troy laughed, and Alicia blushed against his chest. It was apparent Troy just told her something probably dirty.

"Thank you, friend," Troy said, placing his hands in Alpha Denis's hands to shake him.

"Thanks for gracing our mating ceremony." Alicia thanked him as she pulled away from his hug.

"The pleasure is mine." Alpha Dennis said, smiling widely at both of them.

He left them and went to the other side of the room to socialize and meet up with some other people.

He doesn't look happy", someone whispered behind him.

Alpha Dennis could hear him clearly, he felt he might not be the one they were talking about.

"Who are you talking about?" Another person asked.

"Alpha Dennis of course, can't you see he doesn't look happy?"

"What do you mean he isn't happy?

"It's obvious he isn't, he looks worked up and I feel he is jealous of his friend,"

"Jealous?, I still don't get you", the other one was confused

"Don't you know that Alpha Dennis doesn't have a mate? I mean who would want to be a mate of someone like him. It is obvious that he is jealous and envies his friend because he doesn't have his mate," the person rambled.

Alpha Dennis, who was actually listening to their conversation couldn't take it anymore, he had had enough of the bullshit the guy was saying, and he could not bear to hear him say another word about him. So he turned and strolled towards the guy.

Alpha Dennis held the guy's shoulder and threw him against the wall suddenly, the latter hit his back against the wall and groaned in pain.

Alpha Dennis then walked towards where the guy was piled up, he bent and clenched his jaws, he  gave the guy a hostile glare.

"Repeat what you said", he ordered.

"What...what...do...what... do..do...you mean," The man stammered.

"Repeat what you said." Alpha Dennis's voice sent a cold shiver into the guy's body and he trembled in fear.

"I... I'm... I didn't... I didn't mean it", he stuttered.

Dennis picked him up again and pinned him to the wall, his legs were above the ground and they dangled and kicked against each other.

"I only want to hear you say that again, come on, repeat what you said."

The guy held his hands up, "I'm... I'm.. I.. I made.. I made a mistake... I'm, I'm sorry," he pleaded.

Dennis wasn't going to let him go so easily, he pinned him with one hand and placed his other hand on his chest. The guy knew what Dennis was up to, he was going for his heart.

"I'm sorry, please...please let me go," he pleaded, holding on to Dennis's hand which was on his chest.

By this time, the both of them had gotten the attention of everyone, everyone was watching but no one could stop Dennis as they were scared of what he could do to them, not even his father could stop him.

Dennis's best friends who were also his Beta and Gamma, Troy and Fred rushed to him, they held his hands and pleaded to let him go.

"Let him go, Dennis, he's just being a prude." Troy said. He held Dennis's hand and tried to pull it away from the guy but he was stronger than them all.

"Just let him go buddy, he is just being naive like Troy said. Please let him go," Fred pleaded.

Alpha Dennis shut his eyes for a while, like he was sort of calming himself down, he opened them and they were no longer red, "Don't ever speak about me that way, again," Alpha Dennis warned and relaesed his grip.

"I... I... won't...I promise", the guy pleaded and scrambled away in a hurry.

Alpha Dennis turned to his Beta and Gamma and let them lead him out of the room.

"That bastard." He cursed.

"You need to take it easy." Troy muttered, he was feeling bad that Alpha Dennis disrupted his mating ceremony but he couldn't complain.

"I'll be going now." He announced, looking back inside at the people who had by now forgotten about the fight and were back in party mode.

You should stay for more minutes," Fred argued.

"I can't last another second in there," Dennis replied and walked to the garage. His friends ran to his car and stayed in front of his door, they wouldn't allow him to leave.

"I've got to go," Alpha Dennis insisted.

"But the party isn't over yet", Troy grumbled

"We won't let you leave", Fred complained but before they could know it, Dennis got in between them and pushed them away.

They both fell against the car. Just then, Alicia came out to check on her mate.

"What's going on?" She asked, looking at the three men.

Troy quickly strolled to her and hugged her. "Nothing, we were just telling our friend good night."

"Good night, is he leaving already?"

"Yes Alicia, I have something to quickly attend to." Alpha Dennis quickly replied.

"You just came; you haven't had anything to eat also," Alicia complained, but Troy held her off; he could notice his friend's uncomfortable stare around; he needed no soothsayer to let him know Alpha Dennis was sick of seeing couples all loved up all around him, coupled with the fight that just happened.

"It's fine; we'll see you around. Bye." Troy said, and Alpha Dennis Couldn't be more grateful.

"See you guys around." He replied and turned around to flee;

He sat in the car for a few minutes before driving off in the direction of his house.

He made a stop at the liquor store to get some wine as he was sure he would need it before sleeping.

He got back into the car with his wine and drove back on the road heading home.

The road was unusually silent tonight, and he could attribute it to the fact that the majority of the people were at the townhouse enjoying the party.

He kept driving in the silence and soon got lost in thought.

The issue of not finding his mate was a bit bothersome as he was sure in no time, the people might begin to express their dissatisfaction with an Alpha who was unmated at twenty-four.

"I wonder what I've done to deserve this from the moon goddess." He thought for the umpteenth time.

He had lost count of the many mating ceremonies his father had forced him to attend once he clocked eighteen, but he still didn't find his mate.

"I should as well just give up trying to find one." He sighed and shifted his thoughts to the meeting he had with another pack the next day.

He tried recalling if he had gotten all of the files he needed for the meeting when he suddenly realized he had kept one of the files in his car safe last night.

"Thank God I remembered in time." He mumbled.

He placed his legs on the car accelerator and tried opening the safe while still driving. He fumbled with the lock but soon succeeded in opening it.  He felt his hands touch the file, but as he raised it, it slipped off his hands to the floor; he immediately bent down and retrieved it.

He raised his head back up just in time to see himself almost hitting a figure trying to cross the road.

Alpha Dennis quickly turned the car to avoid a collision with the person, the car turned to the other side and hit a big tree.
