Chapter 17 - Double Date?
Despite all my earlier fears and reservations, my date with Max had been progressing smoothly and might have stayed that way but then he showed up. And by he, yes I do mean the one and only Derris Fox.
"Mind if I sit?" he asked, already claiming the seat beside me. As he did, I could see a tall blonde girl take the only available seat at the table beside Max.
What exactly was going on? I wanted to ask.
Max beat me to it, leaning in until his face was in Derris' face.
"Derris, what exactly are you doing here?" he demanded through gritted teeth.
"Whatever are you talking about, dear friend?" he smiled back innocently.
"Cut the bull, Derris. It's not funny. I'm here on a date with Allison so why exactly are you here?" Max levelled a stare at him.
"Well what a coincidence then. I'm also here on a date. Max, Allison, meet my date, Clarissa," the blonde girl waved and smiled sweetly at Max and I.
