Freya’s POV

A shiver of excitement ran through me. It was the day of the banquet. I stood in front of my wardrobe stewing over what to wear.

Elise appeared at my door. She was grinning from ear to ear.

“Banquet day!” she exclaimed happily. She had a garment bag in her arms. Before I could even respond, she waltzed into my room. “I’m here to help you get ready.” She slowly unzipped the garment bag.

I gasped.

It was the most beautiful gown I’d ever seen. The bodice was silver and strapless, with

Freya’s POVKael gathered all the Alphas at the central square. Elise gathered the pack members. Everyone stood with anticipatory expressions.Mira’s little posters had shocked everyone. There are few things people love more than a scandal. Mira’s rumors were scandalous. But even more scandalous was a public apology. So everyone flocked to the central square to watch Mira admit that she’d lie about me.Mira approached the stage, her head hung low. People whispered as she passed.“That’s her. That’s the one who made the posters. What was she thinking? What kind of person does that?”Ethan trailed behind Mira. His eyes face forward, avoiding eye contact with everyone. Mira climbed the stairs to the stage slowly. When she finally faced the crowd, her cheeks were red as a tomato.A hush fell over the crowd.Mira wrung her hands in front of her dress. She glanced at Ethan nervously. He didn’t look at her. His eyes were fixed up and over the crowd. His expression was stern. “Well go on th

Ethan’s POVThe dungeon? Forever?Had Freya lost her mind? I couldn’t believe she was threatening me like that. I was completely dumbfounded.Freya was being so cold.Who was this woman, standing in front me? I barely recognized her. This was not the Freya I’d known and loved. The Freya I’d known would never do something so rash and cruel. There wasn’t a trace of sympathy or kindness on her face. Her chin was lifted, her expression stoic.“Freya,” I tried to reason with her. “You’d keep Mira locked away in the dungeon over some silly rumors?”“They aren’t silly rumors. They’re lies. And they are a direct attack on my personal character. So yes. I will keep her locked up here in the dungeon. Unless she apologizes.” Freya’s voice had an edge to it that I’d never heard before. “If Mira publicly apologizes, she’s free to go.”Shaking my head, I chuckled in utter disbelief. A public apology?I couldn’t let Mira do that. If she admitted, publicly, that she’d lied about everything, our pack

Freya’s POVThe forest was thick with the scent of pine and moss. Birds chirped overhead. The morning sun peeked through the canopy of trees overhead.“We’ve been waiting for over an hour.” Keal sat, his back against a large tree trunk. He was annoyed.“I know,” I told him. The Moonvalley Pack border was two feet in front of us. We’d sent the letter late last night informing Ethan of our arrival.Where was he? It wasn’t like Ethan to be late.I’d made the decision late last night to talk to Ethan first. Part of me was still clinging to hope that Ethan would see the light and do the right thing. Mira deserved to be punished. I hoped that once Ethan knew about Mira and what she’d done, he’d make her apologize. It was a last ditch to maintain any semblance of a cordial relationship between us. An olive branch, as they say.But now Ethan was standing us up.“Enough of this,” Kael said. He rose to his feet. “I’m going to force my way in. No more waiting around.”Just then, we saw someone

Mira’s POVEthan and I arrived back at the Moonvalley Packhouse late that night. When we were outside the banquet, Ethan had stepped aside to talk to Beta Conner. He told me to wait. That’s when I formed a plan of my own.It was quick and simple. Just a poster with the truth. I made copies. Paid off a servant. I was back before Ethan even knew I was gone.He had no idea what I’d done. I felt no remorse. Freya deserved it. She was a liar and a manipulator. She’d humiliated Ethan and I in front of the entire banquet.Freya had lied to Prince Kael. There’s no way a man like him would touch an Omega like her. He deserved to know the truth. They all did.The Moonvalley pack house was quiet as we let ourselves in. Ethan had been silent the entire way back. He was stewing over the events of the evening. He was fixated on the Alpha King and the king’s ‘perception’ of him. It would all blow over soon though. Once they kicked Freya out of the pack.A rush of excitement rippled through me. I b

Freya’s POVMy father’s voice boomed through the banquet hall. People visibly recoiled. His face was wrath and full fury.Whether or not people believed it, one thing was clear: someone had slandered the Alpha King’s daughter. And whoever that was, had a death warrant now.‘It was Mira,’ my wolf said. ‘It had to be.’The ripped up poster was on the ground in shreds. Casually, other people started dropping their posters too. My father stood at the front of the crowd, his chest puffed, his fists clenched, his King aura coming off of him in waves. My wolf was right. Who else could it be? No one else hated me as much as Mira. She and Ethan had just been banned from the banquet. This had to be an act of revenge.“Slandering a member of the royal family is a challenge to our authority,” my father growled. “Who spread these vicious rumors? I will give the culprit one chance to confess.”The hall fell silent. Eyes averted. People shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. Someone coughed.“Conf

Freya’s POVMira and Ethan stormed out of the banquet hall. My chest released with a big sigh. They were gone, I could finally relax.“Are you hurt?” Kael asked. “Did he hurt you?” He reached for my arm to inspect it.“Don’t be silly,” I shook my head. “I’m perfectly fine. Just a bit rattled.”“Well you handled yourself beautifully,” Elise said, linking her arm to mine.“You really think so?” I asked her. It didn’t feel that way. I’d struggled to keep my emotions in check the entire time. I hadn’t expected to see Ethan so soon. It had blind-sided me. And as such, my emotions were all over the place.“Absolutely,” Elise winked. “You were cool as a cucumber.”“That man is shameless,” Kael hissed. He was still angry. “How dare he flaunt his mistress here like that? This is a royal event. Does he have no decorum?”“He wasn’t even invited,” Elise added. “It takes a lot of balls to show up to a royal event uninvited.”Kael frowned. Then he took my hand.“Come, let’s go find Father.” He tugg
