Chapter 31: The Favour

Devon’s POV:

I stared at Xavier, my friend from training days when we all were 16 and too green, as he rocked on the balls of his feet. He was wearing a form-fitting black suit, the expensive kind and carried a wooden staff polished to a black sheen in his hand.

"What do you want?" He asked, his voice holding a hint of amusement.

"I want you to use your magic." I said, taking the silver goblet from the gothic young vampire hovering around us and eyed its contents.

"It's wine, Devon. When will you start trusting me?" He asked with a scowl.

"Never."

"Oh, good for you." He said as he waved the goth over and spoke something to him in a language he knew I wouldn't understand. The bastard.

"My magic, you say?" He asked as he folded himself into a chair, his movements graceful and swift. "But it's not magic, my friend." He grinned.

"The glamour you cast on her." I gritted out.
