CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

MIREYA'S POV

“What?”

My chest ached as I walked out of the Bureau office, my footsteps growing heavier with every second. The world around me continued moving as though nothing had happened, yet mine had completely fallen apart. My ears rang, drowning out every other sound except the officer's voice that kept echoing mercilessly inside my head.

“It's not registered, ma'am.”

Those four words refused to leave me alone.

Our marriage... It was never registered.

A dry laugh esca

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIXKNOX'S POVI reached for her hand, intending to keep her still, but the moment my fingers wrapped around her wrist, she shifted and let out a soft, uncomfortable whimper. “Hmmm…” she winced, her brows knitting together even in her sleep. My eyes narrowed. Did she always have such terrible sleeping habits? I glanced around the room and noticed a neatly folded set of nightclothes that had probably been prepared by her maid before she arrived. Then realization struck me. That would make it the second time I panicked that night. Without another thought, I rushed toward the gown, snatched it from the chair, and hurried back to the bed. But by the time I returned, Mireya had already managed to peel the dress off herself, leaving only her panty behind as she continued sleeping without a care in the world. What a troublemaker. I let out a long, exhausted sigh and pinched the bridge of my nose. How could someone cause so much chaos while completely unconscious? I tried

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE KNOX'S POV I stared blankly at the files spread across my desk. Work was the last thing on my mind because my thoughts refused to stay in the present. They kept dragging me back to that night. The night of the gathering. “Mireya... wake up. We're home.” The word home slipped out of my mouth so naturally that it caught even me by surprise. I frowned to myself. Since when had I started referring to the mansion as our home whenever she was involved? The clumsy girl didn't budge. I leaned over slightly, studying her sleeping face. Did she drink? That thought crossed my mind as I tried to smell any trace of alcohol on her, but it was useless. My senses weren't helping me at all. Or perhaps my mind was too occupied to notice. “Miss Mireya... Miss Mireya!” Jason called her name twice. Her eyes fluttered open for barely a second before she nodded absentmindedly and immediately fell asleep again as though she had been possessed. “What is wrong with her?” Jason

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOURMIREYA'S POVWhat was he trying to say? What was he doing? My body froze as I stood so close to him, my perky round breasts pressed against his solid frame while my breathing grew uneven. The warmth radiating from him only made my thoughts more chaotic, and I hated how aware I suddenly became of every inch separating us.“But you signed it…” he whispered, his voice low enough to send a shiver through me.My entire body tensed.Whatever he was doing, Ava was thoroughly enjoying it. Maybe... I was too.“Y-Yeah... I did, but...” I stammered, my words tangling together until I couldn't even understand what I was trying to say.“Are you complaining now?”His quiet question only made me more flustered.“No, Alpha,” I breathed out quickly.“I was just curious,” I added, hoping I didn't sound completely shameless.“Don't be curious next time,” he replied calmly. “I'll do whatever I need to do.”His hand settled firmly around my waist, and my heart betrayed me by beating ev

It was never registered.A dry laugh escaped my lips before it slowly turned into a bitter smile. I must have looked insane to anyone watching me. How could I have been so stupid? How could I have believed every single lie without questioning it even once?It had all been a sham. Every sacrifice. Every tear. Every humiliation.I had lived and slaved away for a man who had never been my husband in the eyes of the law. I wasn't marked, nor was I ever legally registered as his wife. The title I carried for years had been nothing but an i

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWOMIREYA'S POVThe next morning, I woke up feeling unusually refreshed. The warmth of the sunlight filtered through the curtains, spreading across the room and landing softly on my face. I stretched lazily before instinctively reaching toward the bedside table for my phone.Yesterday had been satisfying.No... satisfying wasn't enough.Watching Corvin's lies crumble before everyone had eased a small part of the pain he had caused me. He still hadn't received the punishment he truly deserved, but at least his pride had been shattered.A faint smile appeared on my lips.I think it's time for the next step.Divorce.I had no intention of breaching my contract with Knox. If I was going to continue this arrangement, then I had to completely cut every remaining tie between Corvin and me.Then another thought suddenly crossed my mind.Wait...How did I even get home last night? I sat upright immediately. My outfit had been changed into comfortable sleepwear, and I had slept

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONEKNOX'S POV“Huh? There should have been three…” she muttered, pointing toward the two girls standing on the staircase.“What?”“The one who pushed me isn't there…” she whined like a wronged child, her brows furrowing in frustration.“What's her name?” I asked calmly.“I don't know…” she replied, pouting. “She's taller than me… and…”She stopped abruptly, biting her lip in annoyance.“Continue.”She looked toward the staircase one last time before tightening her grip on my arm.“Let's just go home.”She hissed under her breath, clearly unwilling to waste any more energy on the matter.I nodded slowly.“Okay.”Truthfully, my attention had already drifted elsewhere.Ever since I was diagnosed with prosopagnosia, I had accepted that faces would forever remain blank spaces in my world. I recognized people through their voices, clothing, posture, and countless tiny details others never bothered to notice.Yet tonight…Something impossible had happened.People around us st
