Chapter 21

After entering her room, Rory pulled open the cabinet. The item she had seen on the table the day she had been assigned to that room was put into the cupboard. She reached for a circular case and opened it to discover a gluey silicone in the form of a broken heart inside. Rory could see plenty of them, but she didn't know what they were for, not until she read the cover. She then understood that the item was an eye patch and that it was intended to treat the dark circles under her eyes.

She thought of Caroline and her smile spread across her lips. Her friend would really enjoy it. After locking the lid, Rory set the case on the table and reached for another. This time, when she opened the new case, she saw that it contained a green color. Before setting it down on the table, she said, "A face mud," with a slight nod of her head.

The next item she chose was a paste for moisturizing the face after completing the entire skin care regimen. Rory placed it on the table before rising f
