Tessa

Tessa tapped her foot anxiously with her eyes fixed on the door of the doctor's office. She had been feeling nauseous for a while now so she decided to go to her doctor for a test.

She was nervous because she had done many pregnancy tests after feeling little symptoms of pregnancy but she hoped it would really turn out positive and she wouldn't go home embarrassed like the last three times.

To take her mind off the thoughts floating through her mind, she brought out her phone and began to scroll through her social media, checking the latest fashion trends.

Ding.

"Come home. I need a divorce." A message from Henry popped up suddenly making Tessa's heart race as a cold shiver ran down her spine.

"Why would he suddenly request a divorce?" She blurted out in surprise as she felt a shiver run down her spine.

Suddenly the door in front of her swung open and Doctor Linda walked out with a smile etched on her chubby face.

"Mrs. Taylor, you can come in," she said as she beckoned to Tessa who slid the phone into her handbag and walked into the office behind her.

"Have your seat, Ma'am." Doc Linda beamed a smile at her as she walked behind her mahogany desk dropping into her swivel chair. Tessa sat down as she watched Doc Linda pick up an envelope and stretched it towards her.

"Congratulations! You're two weeks pregnant. Here is the result." Doc Linda said as Tessa took the envelope from her.

Tessa's eyes lit up in surprise as she gripped the envelope and brought out the results paper. She held her breath as she read through it and when she saw the words, she held back the tears that filled the corners of her eyes.

Although she was finally confirmed pregnant just as she suspected after seeing some symptoms of pregnancy, she wasn't as happy as she felt she would be if she ever found out she was pregnant.

Doc Linda looked up at her from the rim of her glasses. "I told you not to fret. It will come," Doc Linda said, wearing a big smile on her face.

"Thank you ma'am." Tessa nodded as she folded the paper into the envelope and dropped it into her hand bag. "I need to go home now," She beamed a half smile as she stood up.

"Why don't you seem happy?" Doc Linda asked, adjusting her glasses. She had expected to see Tessa Squeal in happiness but she was so nonchalant about it.

Doc Linda had been her doctor for the past three years and knew how much she craved a child after the pressure from Henry's family had come.

"I'm fine." Tessa shrugged her shoulders as she pushed the chair back and turned on her heels.

"Remember to come back for the antenatal orientation tomorrow," she said, but before she could complete her sentence Tessa was already out of the office.

She walked into the parking lot of the hospital texting Henry.

"Why do you want a divorce?" She sent the text as she opened the door of her car and hopped in.

Henry had been craving for an heir and she suspected that might be why he was suddenly demanding a divorce but she was going to shock him with her pregnancy.

He had turned down all his mother's suggestions in finding a woman to replace her. Due to this, she hated her with passion. But now he needs a divorce? Just when she was pregnant with him.

"There must be something going on? He isn't one for pranks," Tessa whispered after a few minutes passed and there was no reply, she started the engine and drove straight back home.

When she got back home, She pushed open the door of the living room to meet Henry and her best friend on a couch. Henry was never at home at this time of the day but there he was with a smile plastered on his face.

"Elena? Henry? What's going on?" she inquired, her gaze shifting between the two as they looked up at her.

"Tessa, I just found out that Elena is carrying my baby." Henry said casually as his eyes locked with hers as his lips curled into a smile.

"What? Are you trying to tell me that you both…" Tessa trailed off. She felt her legs turn to jelly, causing her to lean against the wall, staring at them in disbelief.

"It wasn't really intentional," He said as he walked towards him like he wanted to apologize or something.

"I don't need your explanation!" She yelled and turned to walk out. What other explanation does he have? She wondered.

But he didn't stop talking, "During my last birthday, I discovered that someone drugged me. I thought it was you because you both wore matching outfits, so I slept with her." Henry shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly with no remorse in his eyes.

Tessa turned to Elena with anger in her eyes, "If he was drugged that he mistook you for me then were you also drugged that you allowed him sleep with you?" Tessa gritted her teeth.

"It was my fault, Tessa," Elena sobbed as she looked down on her feets. "I couldn't resist him, and I let it happen. I thought I wouldn't get pregnant." She sounded so pitiful.

Fake! That was what it was to Tessa. She turned her eyes to the man she had considered her husband and had sacrificed her fame, future and career to be with the man she loved for these three years.

"I finally have a baby, Tessa you should be happy for me." He said as he sat down and crossed his legs. She held the urge to suddenly yell at him that she was pregnant too.

Elena was her best friend for three years! She had met her at college, and they were friends until she married. She had introduced Elena to Henry during their wedding.

Tessa had taken a liking to her and they became besties then she had invited her to take a position as a manager in the company but now she was pregnant for Henry!

"Tessa I realized that maybe I really never loved you but when I saw Elena I wanted her and now she has my baby." He said as he adjusted his shirt and pushed his hair back.

"I knew you won't be happy with what happened, that was why I asked for a divorce. We will go our separate ways and everything will be just fine." His lips curled into a satisfied smile.

"I'm sorry Henry, it's my fault. I should leave and not come back. If I hadn't let you although you were drugged then you wouldn't have…" Elena began to sob.

Tessa was shocked as she watched Elena play victim. She had known Elena long enough to know that this was all acting.

"Tessa will fire me since she has seen us and I'll have no money to take care of myself and the baby." Elena rubbed her tearful eyes as Herny pulled her into a hug leaving Tessa flabbergasted.

"I'll sign the divorce!" She said and they both looked up at her as she turned on her heels and stomped out.

"If he wants a divorce so be it, I'm going to raise my child alone." She tried to hold back tears. Car keys in hand, she made her way to the front door, but halted upon hearing someone behind her.

"Stop there." Tessa turned to find Henry with disheveled hair, his penetrating brown eyes making it hard for her to ignore his handsome face and sculpted physique.

Lost in his gaze, she froze momentarily. Elena followed closely behind him, but his expression had shifted from remorse to one of hate and coldness. Confused, Tessa wondered what was happening.

"Where are you going, Tessa?" he asked.

"To my office, of course," she snapped, eager to return to the office to get busy and forget about all of them by engrossing herself with work.

But his next words shocked her, "Tessa, I think you should step down as the CEO before the divorce is settled," he declared. She turned to look at him baffled at his words.
