Carmen’s POV

Realizing that I had been abandoned by Millie made it impossible to make an excuse.

“Why not?” I asked rhetorically.

“Alright, cool,” he said with a smile. “I will be right back,” he said and hurried out of the room.

Well, at least, his teeth weren’t silver or gold-plaited.

He came back a few minutes later with two glasses of drinks, and because I wasn’t one to have drinks, I couldn’t even tell what was in the glasses.

“Here we go,” he said.

“I thought we were going to go back to the other room where the real party is happening,” I said skeptically.

“I don’t really fancy such noise, and besides, I won’t get to know you properly if we are there,” he said.

It seemed to make much sense, only that it would have been better if this was coming from someone else, like Chase Maddox, but I already knew that it was wishful thinking, and since the kiss, I had been thinking a whole lot about Chase.

“Shall we?” Rudge asked as he gestured to a couch and we sat down.

But I was careful enough to maintain some form of distance even though the couch was quite small.

He handed me one glass and I took it. Even without taking it close to my nose, I could already tell that there was alcohol in it.

“I don’t drink alcohol,” I told him.

“Oh, I am sorry, I didn’t know that,” he said sympathetically.

“It’s fine,” I said, excusing his not knowing.

I mean, this was a party where everyone was having something like this, so it would be expected that he would naturally think that I was cool with it.

“Is there like…cocktails?” I asked him.

“I don’t think so, but I could ask,” he stated.

Before I could tell him not to bother about it, simply because I wasn’t even really thirsty, he had already gotten up and hurried out of the room. He came back a few minutes later again, but he was only holding his own glass of drink.

“This is the only drink they have that is less alcoholic,” Rudge told me remorsefully. “The others would have your knees shaking by just half a glass,” he told me.

I managed a smile.

“It’s okay,” I said.

I was really going to ask him not to bother about anyway. He seemed a little relieved when I said that as he took a seat beside me.

“Where is Millie and her boyfriend?” I asked Rudge.

“Uh, those two? I can bet that they are somewhere smooching each other,” he said, giggling.

I didn’t find that funny at all.

“They can barely keep their hands off each other, so it’s best not to worry about them,” he added.

I recalled that looking after Millie and ensuring that she was decent and intact were the main reasons I came to this party in the first place. As for her boyfriend, I could have met him at any time.

“But where exactly did they go?” I asked worriedly.

“They are in this building, Camila, if that is something you are worried about,” he told me.

“It’s Carmen,” he said.

I was already turned off by the fact that he couldn’t even remember my name.

“Huh?” He asked.

“My name is Carmen, not Camila,” I corrected him.

He smiled nicely.

“I am sorry for the mix up,” he said. “I have had two glasses of these and it is already making my head go round,” he added lightly, referring to the glass of drink in his hand.

I didn’t even bother to take mine.

“So, you work for Chase Maddox?” Rudge went right ahead to ask.

I cleared my throat and said, “Yes, I do.”

“What exactly do you do for him?” Rudge asked again.

“I am his manager,” I answered.

Rudge’s eyes budged with shock and amazement at the same time.

“Wow, that is huge!” He said, chuckling.

Aside from the fact that I wasn’t even comfortable being alone in his presence from the beginning, I didn’t like the way he was asking me questions about Chase. If Millie’s boyfriend hadn’t announced it, I wouldn’t have said anything about it at all.

“It’s not a big deal,” I tried to trivialize it.

“The Ice King is a big deal, are you kidding me?” Rudge asked, smiling. “What does it feel like working for him?” Rudge went right ahead to continue asking.

It was as though he didn’t know how to take a break when talking, and he was beginning to wear me out, especially with the Chase-questions.

“What do you do, Rudge?” I asked instead, trying to deviate the conversation from where it was, but I wasn’t really that lucky.

“He must be really good, right?” Rudge asked. “He has to be, otherwise he wouldn’t be this popular, and those eyes of his. I heard that…” Rudge continued, and I had already had enough.

Especially when he started to mention Chase’s eyes.

“I don’t want to talk about Chase or my job,” I interjected.

I had tried to do so stylishly, but it obviously didn’t work, and so there was no point in beating around bush.

Rudge seemed disappointed.

“I thought we were getting to know each other,” he said, his voice dropping slightly.

“Yes, we are,” I said. “Why don’t you tell me what you do,” I requested, trying again to shift the conversation to Rudge.

He relaxed on the sofa and said, “I don’t work.”

“That’s…weird,” I said, unable to contain it.

“Yeah, because I haven’t found the right job for me,” he explained briefly.

“Oh,” I exclaimed in slight shock. “So, what does Jason do?” I asked Rudge.

I already knew that after this party, I really didn’t want to have anything to do with Rudge, so I might as well look out for Millie by finding out what her boyfriend did for a living.

“I am bored,” Rudge blurted, ignoring my question. “Let’s go back to the party,” he said.

Didn’t he say a while ago that he didn’t want to?

Anyway, I didn’t object, because being there would save me from having meaningless conversations with him.

“Okay,” I agreed.

Rudge and I went back to the party, and what he did next took me completely by surprise.

Rudge climbed the stage, held the microphone, and said, “Attention everyone,” and everyone stopped and looked at him.

The loud music stopped instantly, and I wondered what he was doing.

“You all, meet Carmen. She works for Chase Maddox, the Ice King!” Rudge announced loudly.

Right there and then, I felt like my entire life was over.

  • The Billionaire Hockey King Stole A Kiss From Me   Not The Best Moment

Carmen’s POVI was almost done packing when Millie arrived, and I groaned internally. I really didn’t want her to find me here when she eventually chose to return.“Carmen,” she called remorsefully, but I didn’t respond to her.Instead, I concentrated on finishing up with the packing so that I wouldn’t stay here any minute longer, and as soon as I was done, I proceeded to roll my boxes out.But Millie stood by the door, deliberately preventing me from walking out.Hence, I had to speak to her.“Please, Millie, get out of my way,” I told her.“Carmen, please, let’s talk,” she pleaded.I scoffed out loud as rage fueled inside of me.“Talk?” I asked her, sounding as disgusted and infuriated as I was really feeling. “You really want me to stand here and talk to you?” I asked her.“It just happened!” Millie blurted. “I swear, I didn’t mean to continue seeing Terry, but…” she continued, but I was just too disgusted to listen to her.“He placed a gun on your head, didn’t he?” I asked her sar

Chase’s POV“Do you want me to come with you?” Terry asked me, sounding all protective.Even though he was berating me a few seconds ago for telling Carmen about his affair with Millie, he was still my Brother, and the moment we exchanged that look, he became who he had always been to me; my protector.I cleared my throat and said, “I don’t think there will be need for that,” and then shook my head.“Why not?” Terry asked. “We have always been in this together and you need someone like me with you,” he added.I touched him by his shoulder and squeezed it.“Whatever it is, I believe I can handle it,” I assured him.“What if…” Terry began to ask me but his voice trailed off.We both knew what he was going to ask.He was worried about me getting arrested; maybe the big league had prepared an arrest, but he didn’t say the words, or maybe he just couldn’t bring himself to saying them.“I will call you and let you know how it goes, Brother,” I told him.I wasn’t going to allow fear envelop

Chase’s POV“How could you, Chase?!” Terry barked at me.Cindy sat on my couch and watched us quietly.“Don’t ask me that,” I responded stubbornly.I would have gladly denied ever saying anything to Carmen, but it was pointless. Clearly, Carmen had done her findings after I told her. That girl was the nosiest person I had ever met!It was weird how she didn’t know who her father was all these years, and meanwhile, she would gladly become an FBI on someone else’s business.“I trusted you, Chase,” Terry said, sounding betrayed. The truth was that after leaving Carmen’s apartment last night, I had returned to my apartment, and for the first time, ordered a bottle of alcoholic wine and drank until I couldn’t feel the pain any longer. My career was over.I had just betrayed Terry because he did beg me not to say anything to Carmen. My life was in shambles already. Right in front of me, I saw it crumbling to the ground and I couldn’t do anything about it.It was either get drunk to stupor o

  • The Billionaire Hockey King Stole A Kiss From Me   Caught In The Act

CarmenChase couldn’t be right, could he?Millie was having an affair with Terry after everything I told her that he had done to me? I couldn’t believe it.All night, I didn’t sleep a wink.I stayed awake with so many troubling thoughts. First of all, the story about Chase being a murderer who killed his own father in cold blood and an ex-convict, and then Millie being with someone who treated me cruelly.Nothing made sense.By morning, I was up already. It was Sunday, but I couldn’t wait, and so I called Millie. Thankfully, she picked up almost immediately.“Hi, Carmen, good morning,” she greeted me.“Shouldn’t you be home by now?” I asked her, and then I realized almost immediately that I shouldn’t have spoken in that tone.Millie could easily detect that I knew something, and if she did, she would be able to hide it even more, so I cleared my throat and tried again.“When are you getting back?” I asked her further.“Um, later tonight,” she answered cautiously. She was going to spe

  • The Billionaire Hockey King Stole A Kiss From Me   Hurt Her Too

Chase’s POVShowing up at Carmen’s apartment was a very silly thing to do, but I was here now, and I couldn’t go back. So, I knocked.Terry would eat me alive if he found out I came here, and worse, for something as trivial as seeing pictures of Carmen and Sean Noble at a private reservation at a restaurant for what seemed like a dinner date.I couldn’t believe that Carmen would stoop low to date Sean Noble! My blood was boiling so much when I saw the pictures making rounds on the internet that I couldn’t control my temper, or my actions. When Carmen opened the door and saw me, she was stunned to her bones.“Chase,” she said through gasped breath. “What are you doing here?” She asked me.“If you can show up at my house unannounced, then I can also do the same,” I said. And with that, I walked into Carmen’s living room. It didn’t seem like Millie was around, which was a good thing.Hopefully, no one would find out that I was ever here.“What do you want?” Carmen asked. “You know, it’s

  • The Billionaire Hockey King Stole A Kiss From Me   Biggest Secret Spilled!

Carmen’s POV“Meet me up at The Lounge’s restaurant right now. This is very important.”After ensuring that the message had delivered, I grabbed a cab and went to wait for Sean Noble at the restaurant. It wasn’t very far away from Steven Noble’s house, and so he shouldn’t waste time in showing up.It was late already, and I should be at my apartment, but after what I saw, I just couldn’t go to my apartment and act like I wasn’t disturbed. Lately, I had been seeing things that just kept making me restless, and I really wanted to figure things out, or maybe focusing on this was a way of escaping what I should be focusing on, which was my dad being Donny and deciding how to handle it.“Hi, good evening,” I greeted the waitress I met at the restaurant. “I would like to make a private reservation,” I told her.“Sure,” she responded. She proceeded to get the reservation, but she recognized me almost immediately and stopped.“Carmen Vega?” She asked even though she sounded certain.“I am s
