로그인The day I caught my fiancé in bed with another woman, my world shattered. "You actually thought I'd reject my fated mate for a human?" Kieran sneered. "Dont be stupid Four years of love ended with a slammed door and a broken heart. With nothing left to hold onto, I called my father and made the one decision I'd spent years running from. "I'll marry him." I thought I was marrying Lucien Drakon—a billionaire so powerful that governments respected him, rivals feared him, and his name alone commanded obedience. I was wrong. Lucien Drakon isn't just a billionaire. He's the Serpent King. Feared by every supernatural race. Worshipped by his own kind. A man as cold as the golden eyes that never seem to leave me. Our marriage was supposed to be nothing more than an arrangement. So why does he look at me like I've always belonged to him? Why does he protect me as though losing me would destroy him? And why does the man who threw me away suddenly want me back? As an ancient rivalry between wolves and serpents threatens to erupt into war, I find myself caught between two enemies. One wants to use me. The other would burn the world before letting anyone take me. They say serpents are the deadliest predators alive. They're wrong. The deadliest thing about Lucien Drakon isn't his venom. It's the way he loves me.

I could feel his burning death gaze upon me as I was being led away from my pack members by the guards he had brought with him. Our pack was beaten by the strongest Alpha and we all became captive. The only difference was that, we still stay in our pack but we submit to them like pups.I couldn't be goaded into submission like a willing sheep being led to the slaughter house. So I put up a fairly good fight . I wasn't one who cowered down and allowed people to treat me like shit.Unfortunately, I wasn't a match. There’s no way I could go up against the trained warriors from the dreaded Devil Claw Wolfpack.Rumor had it that death was a common factor in their training. The few who survived were counted warriors. That was probably the reason they were undefeatable. It was rare for rogues to attack them since no sane rogue would dare go near their pack lands. My father's pleas sounded loud like bells in my ears . But then, the devil incarnate who called himself a Beta that was acting in place of his Alpha wasn't willing to listen to him."I'm sorry but Natalia is still young. She has spoken out of turn and I would do my best to make sure that she never acts in such a manner again."I heard my father, an Alpha, plead with a Beta. Such a pathetic thing to behold.Alphas were known to be respected all over ,not only in their packs but also from other packs . However, in the case of Alpha Talon, my father, the reverse was the case.I scoffed loudly at this thought and turned back to meet Beta Heimdall's deathly gaze . Raising my neck and standing in a regal way, I equally leveled my burning gaze at him. I was sure he hated my guts and I had to let him know I sure hated his balls. For this, I had to put up a fair fight. I wouldn't let my pack members remember me as the Alpha's daughter who was spineless and had cowered fearfully at her captors.Despite knowing I couldn't match the warriors, I made it difficult for them to move me away."Bundle her up and keep her in the tent. We move in an hour."Beta Heimdall announced from behind me in a chilly, dangerous growl that made everyone of my pack members sigh loudly.None of them dared move a centimeter away from where they stood or spoke a word against what was happening. The guards instantly obeyed him and soon, I felt myself being lifted from the ground and struggling against their strong grips.I was carried away to one of the tents spread out on the open field which wasn't far from where my father stood pleading for his only daughter's life.I looked at myself as I lay on the dirty floor of the tent . On weighing my current situation, I laughed at myself scornfully. Daughter of an alpha lying on a dirty floor. That did not make sense. Pushing myself from.the floor, I assumed the sitting position with my head resting on my tightly folded hands above my knees. So much for being a tough cookie. A tough cookie who couldn't do anything to save herself but watch her father and pack reduced to slaves all because of a pack which felt entitled to others.I felt someone's eyes on me and raised my head slowly to see the Beta who had reduced me to a slave stand at the door while two warriors stood on opposite sides of the door.I could see them bow down in reverence to him while he stood off to one side, aloof with contempt and fury swirling in his eyes at me.For a moment, fear clutched at me but knowing who I was and what I was capable of, I returned his laser gaze with equal contempt and fury in my eyes.He seemed to be confused on why I wasn't whimpering or cowering in fear below him . It was odd. On finding no answer, he snickered scornfully at me and turned around.I wouldn't let him have the last word or action so I returned his snicker with a loud mocking laughter followed by an equally loud hiss. The Beta seemed to see red. He turned around suddenly and began to match angrily into the tent. The two warriors at the door had their head bowed in respect until he passed them and got into the tent.I was ready for whatever way he wanted to unleash his fury. I didn't start crying or moving towards a corner in fear. Instead, I shot to my feet agilely and folded my hands across my chest in defiance.Beta Heimdall stood before me ,towering well above me but I wasn't deterred. He stretched his hand and grabbed my neck roughly and spoke with clenched teeth."You seem to want to die. Who do you think you are? You are nothing but another thing in the tribute to my Alpha so you'd better behave yourself."If I was choking, I didn't show it. Rather, my face crumpled up in an out of sorts laughter which made the Beta to furrowed his brows before releasing my neck suddenly. He seemed confused as to why someone who was being held in a death grip wasn't showing fear. He pushed me out of his grip suddenly, making me stagger and fall on my knees. As I struggled to my feet while wheezing and struggling for air, Beta Heimdall placed a booted foot on my back and applied pressure in order to make me stay down. That very act went against my personal principle of staying down so I tried brushing his foot away in an attempt to rise. The more I struggled, the more he applied pressure. After a few minutes, he seemed to remember his attention was needed elsewhere . With a thud, he pushed me with his foot ,making me hit the tarpaulin which the tent was covered with.Without another word or look in my direction, he walked out of the tent. He got to the door and told the warriors to keep watch over me so I wouldn't play pranks on them.He would never be so sure of himself. He never put into consideration that I've lived here all my life and knew even the tiniest pathway. He would without doubt be in shock in an hour when he decides to move.SELENE'S POVI woke to the sensation of being watched, a prickling heat on the back of my neck that had my muscles locking up before my eyes even opened. When I finally forced them open, Lucien was there, hovering over me with an intensity that felt less like concern and more like scrutiny. His golden eyes were the first thing I saw, unblinking and unnervingly bright in the dim light of the bedroom, and for a split second, a jolt of pure, instinctive terror shot through me so violently I nearly scrambled out of the bed.I froze, my breath catching in my throat as I stared up at him, waiting for the monster I remembered to reveal itself. My mind was a chaotic jumble of fragmented images: the crushing weight of coils, the taste of dirt and fear, the sound of a hiss that vibrated in my bones, and those same golden eyes staring down at me with predatory intent.I blinked rapidly, trying to clear the fog, searching his face for scales, for a slit pupil, for any sign of the creature that ha
LUCIEN'S POVI woke with a strange pressure moving beneath my skin, a deep, unsettling vibration that felt less like a illness and more like something trying to claw its way out from the inside. For several seconds, I remained perfectly still, staring into the darkness of the bedroom while my mind raced to calculate how much time I had left before the human facade cracked. Selene was sleeping beside me, her breathing slow and even, one hand resting near my chest in a gesture of trust that made the guilt in my gut twist like a knife. Then the pressure came again, stronger this time, a physical force pushing against my ribs and demanding release with a urgency that made my jaw tighten until my teeth ached. The full moon.I had known this night would be difficult. I had felt it building since sunset, a creeping dread that settled in my bones and warned me that my control was slipping, but I had hoped I could keep it under control long enough for Selene to sleep through the night without
CHAPTER 31 SELENE'S POV "Lucien?" The name barely made it past my lips. The serpent didn't move. Those enormous golden eyes remained fixed on me, unblinking and impossibly familiar. I looked down at my hand, at the crushed flowers dripping sap across my palm, and realized I had snapped their stems without feeling it. I squeezed my eyes shut. When I opened them, the serpent was still there. "This is a dream," I whispered. The words sounded hollow even to me. I was standing in the garden. I could smell the damp earth, the night-blooming jasmine, the metallic tang of my own blood where a thorn had caught my wrist. Dreams didn't carry scent. Dreams didn't leave scratches. But I knew this creature. Not this exact serpent, perhaps—not consciously. But for years, I had dreamed of a massive serpent with dark scales and golden eyes that watched me from shadows, coiled and waiting. Those dreams had stopped the moment I began sharing a bed with Lucien. I looked at the serpent's body,
SELENE'S POVThe howling didn't just wake me; it tore me out of sleep like a hook in my throat. It wasn't a dream. Dreams didn't carry that kind of visceral, bone-deeping terror. The sound drifted through the darkness, a mournful, rising and falling wail that echoed somewhere beyond the estate's high stone walls. It sounded human, agonizingly so, but beneath the cry lay something primal, something wild that made the hair on my arms stand up and my skin crawl as if infested with insects. I opened my eyes, my heart already hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. For a few seconds, I lay paralyzed, staring into the darkness. The bedroom was suffocating, washed only in pale, sickly moonlight that sliced through the gaps in the curtains. The fabric moved gently with a breeze I couldn't feel, but beside me, the sheets were cold.Empty. Panic, sharp and immediate, spiked in my chest. "Lucien?"My voice was a trembling whisper, instantly swallowed by the heavy silence of the room. Anot
