Leah
I heard the door open and I didn’t need a soothsayer to tell me that it was Aiden, his strong cologne always had a way of announcing him.
“You look good,” he said.
I forced a smile. “Thanks,” I murmured, closing the door behind him.
He moved toward the armchair.
“So... how did the meeting go, with my brother?” he asked, as he sat down.
“Horrible,” I said while gulping a bottle of water, hoping he wouldn't ask further.
“Seriously?, I want details, Leah.”
I hesitated, then walked to him and stood close. “He saw Liam.”
His whole posture shifted. “He what?”
“He saw Liam at the airport.” My voice trembled. “I didn’t think—”
“Leah…” Aiden ran a hand through his hair. “ You see why I insisted Liam should have just stayed in Tokyo.”
I sighed, as I moved closer to him and placed my hand gently on his knee. “Aiden.”
I looked up at him, hoping he would see the pain in my eyes. “Can we forget about everything and live quietly? Just you, me and Liam.”
He stared at me for a long moment before pushing my hand off — not violently, just enough to send a message.
“You want to leave quietly? Now?”
“I—”
“Why! Why do you always have to make me look like a fool!! PlWe spent five years planning for this and now you want to throw it all away!.”
“ Aiden…” I said with tears choking my voice.
“I am grateful for everything you did for me but…”
“ But, nothing, Leah, if you are truly grateful then you would go along with the plan, you begged for.”
“I am, but that was before Liam.”
“No,” he said quickly, turning to face me. “That was because of Liam. You said Cassian didn't deserve both of you.”
“And I still believe that—”
“Then why are you hesitating now?” His voice stayed even. “Are you scared Cassian will find out Liam is his son? You are scared he’ll take him away.”
Tears filled my eyes.
“Leah, I understand that fear. But if you’re truly scared of losing Liam, then walking away now is the worst thing you can do. He’s Cassian Wolfe. If he finds out the truth, you think he won't take Liam?”
I took a deep breath, fighting back the tears. “You don't get it, Aiden.” My voice was muffled with tears.
“ I saw the way he looked at Liam. Like something inside him came alive. And for a moment, it felt as if he knew it was his son.”
He stared at me. “And you think that’s enough reason to be scared?”
“No,” I said quickly. “But Liam’s mine. He’s all I have. And I can’t let anyone take him away from me.”
“ And you think. I would let anyone take Liam away from you?”
He exhaled deeply, pulled something from his coat, and tossed it on the table. It was a document.
“What’s in there?” I asked.
“Something that’ll make him pay,” he said. “If he signs it, he unknowingly hands over his shares to us, and all you need to do is to make him sign it. That’s all and you can leave.”
I looked down at the folder.
He walked to the door, pausing before he left.
“Get him to sign it tomorrow,” he said, his voice low. “Then you are free to do whatever you want.”
---
I held my coat tightly, unable to handle the breeze .I sat on the bench, looking around for Cassain. He had asked us to meet and he was nowhere in sight.
He arrived ten minutes late, which was quite unusual.
“ Sorry, something came up.” He said as he took a seat.
I looked at him, he looked different or maybe stressed, I shook my head trying to get that thought off my head, this wasn't why I was here.
“You know... “ He said as he paused.
“There’s something familiar about you.”
My heart stopped, but I didn’t flinch. “I get that a lot, but can we get straight to business, I have an appointment in the next thirty minute”
He sighed, as he looked at me.
“I’ve been thinking about someone lately,” he said. “My wife. They said she passed away five years ago.”
“ Mr Wolfe, can we please focus on why we are here?” I asked. I dropped the folder on the table. “This needs your signature. So I can start working on the project.”
He barely looked at the document before pulling a pen from his pocket.
I looked at him shocked.
“You’re not even going to read it?” I asked trying to sound calm
“ I don't want to waste further of your time.” he said as he just glanced through the first page and he signed.
Just like that.
My heart dropped.
He stood up, brushing invisible dust from his coat.
“Call me when you’re ready to talk. Really talk.” He glanced down at the folder. “And tell your son… he’s lucky to have you and I would love to see him again.”
He turned and walked away.
I looked at the document in my hand and all I felt was fulfilment. The company he spent years building he handed it over to me. Who said revenge wasn't satisfying.
I thought about Aiden—about everything he had done for me. Five years. My new life. My son’s safety. Maybe I was an ingrate yesterday.
I decided to pick up a bottle of his favorite red wine. A small gesture, but one I hadn’t made in a long time.
He deserved something for staying by my side.
I took a shortcut through the lobby.
That’s when I saw Aiden.
Outside, near the valet stand. Talking to someone.
Talia.
“You said she would be gone by now,” Talia asked, her arms folded.
“She will,” Aiden said calmly. “She already got the signature.”
“And she?”
“ Once she gives me the document she can disappear for all I care.”
Talia scoffed. “You better hold your end. I want that company to be mine—clean. No traces.”
I couldn’t breathe, as the pieces started falling into place, memories of previous events started making sense. The way he insisted I return to this city, even when it had never been part of my plan. The days he has vanish without reason. The mysterious "T" who kept calling him — always at odd hours.
" So I was just a plan." I muttered as the wine fell from my hand
Aiden turned and froze. “Rave..."
My voice cracked. “So that was the plan all along? Use me. Use my son?”
He stepped forward. “Wait—let me explain—”
I stepped back. “Don’t.”
My hands were shaking.
Then, suddenly—someone hand wrapped around my waist.
Cassian.
Aiden’s POVI opened the car door for her to enter but she was too busy looking around.“Oh my, it feels good to be out,” Rosy said, still looking around. “Ten years in that dump, breathing nothing but the stench of cheap bleach and dump and now—” She glanced around, inhaling again. “Now I can almost remember what power tastes like.”I held the door open a little wider. “Glad you’re enjoying the breeze.”She cut her eyes to me and gave me a face that meant business.“ Enough of the chit chat, how are the plans going?”“Smoothly,” I said. She looked at me and m, she laughed hysterically. The. She moved closer.“I didn’t spend ten years locked away,” she said slowly, “and I certainly didn’t waste twelve years prepping you up, Aiden, just to hear you mumble that things are going ‘smoothly.’” She said, mimicking the way I said smoothly. “Do you need me to remind you of who you were when I found you? Hmm?”I clenched my jaw. “No.”“I think you do.” She held my arm, her nails digging to my
Cassian's POV "No..." I whispered, as I stared at the flat-screen TV in my office. Leah didn’t just do that. She played it perfectly. Too perfectly. it wasn’t about her calling me a pedofile—God knows I probably deserve worse. But it was about the girl. Even though her face was partially blurred, even though she wore heavy makeup. Anyone who knew her would recognize that face. That she was Rosy’s daughter. And that for sure isn't good. I grabbed my phone and searched through the internet. I was trending or rather she was trending. #RosysDaughter. The comments were piling up. Speculations. Wild theories. But one post stood out. It had her full name. Her school. A recent photo. How on earth did Leah get her pics. My phone buzzed every second, from calls, to meessages. I ignored them all. I needed to control the damage first. I opened my laptop and drafted a quick press statement. "In light of the recent press statements made by Leah, I would like to clear the public t
Leah's POV I took a deep breath as I let them apply the finishing touch of my makeup. Then I heard a knock from the door and someone entered. It was Cassain. “ I just wanted to check up on you.” He said while closing the door I looked at him, trying to resist the urge of slapping him because I had a lot of pent up anger and things to say to him. “ Can you please excuse us?” I said to my makeup artist and everyone . They packed up and left my office, more like the storage room because clearly Vivienne made sure there was no office I could occupy so I had to stick to this. “ I am sorry, “ he said immediately as they left. I wanted to ask if he ever loved me but scratch that, I wanted to hit the bull by the horn. So I took the sharp hair pin on the table and walked to him. I moved closer to him, inches apart as I looked squarely in his eyes. And I pointed the sharp edge of the hairpin to my neck. “ Let me make it easy for you.” I said as I took his hand and placed i
Aiden’s POV“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath. The plan didn’t go how I wanted.Still, I wasn’t worried. Twenty years of my life had already gone into this, what were a few more months? Time wasn’t my enemy. The only thing standing in my way now was Leah. She wasn’t supposed to survive the warehouse fire.I had made sure everything was ready. The doors, the barrels, the timer. Everything. It would’ve been over. One clean sweep and I would finally have the Wolfe company all to myself. But then, Cassian just had to show up. He always had a way of messing things up. Maybe there was a way to use that to my advantage. Maybe I could turn this around.I knelt down and placed the single lily on my mother’s tombstone. “I’ll get the revenge you deserve,” I said , meaning every single word.“I promise, everyone who had a hand in your death will pay.” I continued fighting back the tears as I couldn't think of the painful memories ---I was ten when she died.My mom was strong. The kind of w
Leah's POVI banged the door hard—so hard I thought the door would break down. "Anyone here! Can someone please help me?" I shouted through the smoke. But there was no response. The smoke was suffocating. My eyes were watering. I coughed so hard I nearly dropped to my knees.Where the hell was my phone? Why didn’t I take it?I staggered backwards, hitting a crate. Everywhere was covered with smoke, I barely could see anything.I tried again. I screamed louder, my fust banging the door like my life depended on itBut still nothing.Damn it I shouldn't have come here, Aiden insisted I inspect the warehouse just in case Cassian or his mom tries to pull a fast one and since it was the workers lunchtime, it was just a perfect opportunity to inspect. Everyone who worked around here would be out.And now, I was choking to death trying to be smart. The heat was unbearable. I turned, covering my mouth with my sleeve, blinking through the smoke in the room , trying to search for anything tha
Cassian's POVThe boardroom was quiet. Old men in designer suits and women who believed their age could be hidden behind powdered faces all sat watching me like I was a boy who knew nothing about managing a company.“I have everything under control,” I said, not because I needed their assurance but just for formalities.Mrs. Sherry leaned forward in a frown. “ We don't need you to have everything under control, we need you to be in control and that would only be possible if your marriage to Talia happens.”There it was again back to Talia.I didn’t respond.Instead, I looked down at my wristwatch, watching time go because in about 3... 2... 1…Right on cue, the doors to the boardroom opened.Leah—no, Raven—walked in.Everyone turned and looked at her in shock , wondering who she was and why she was here. She didn't mind as she walked elegantly ignoring everyone.Vivienne stood up from her seat. “What are you doing here?” she snapped. “This meeting is for board members only. If you do
