Cassian POV

I grabbed her by the waist and kissed her.

I didn’t stop to think. Didn’t care about logic or restraint. I just needed to feel her. To feel my wife.

It was reckless. Raw. Wild.

But it didn't matter.

I braced for the slap.

But she didn’t pull away. Not at first.

For one fragile second—she kissed me back.

And in that single moment, my world stopped.

I could feel her heart racing.

Her breath mixed with mine.

Her hands gripped my coat tightly.

I just knew it was her.

I could feel the tears at the brim in my eyes, it was tears of relief, for five years, for five good I had blamed myself for her death. The DNA result relieved me in ways I cannot explain.

Then a voice interrupted us

“Am I interrupting something?”

We both froze.

I turned slowly.

And I saw Talia, she was a few feet away.

Leah... Raven or whatever name she chose to answer, Pulled away instantly, a bit flustered and slapped me right across the face.

The sound echoed.

Hard.

I didn’t move.

She didn’t say anything. She just walked away, flustered, and confused, Aiden running after her.

I stood there, breathing heavily, still feeling the taste of her lips.

Then Talia walked closer.

“Wow,” she laughed bitterly. “So this is what we’re doing now? Kissing random girls in public?”

“Talia—”

“I’m pregnant.”

I stuttered back in shock. “What?”

She pulled something from her handbag and threw it at my chest.

It fell on the ground. It was a pregnancy strip with two lines.

“I’m carrying your child, Cassian,” she said loudly—loud enough for everyone to hear.

I stared at it dumbfounded.

“No,” I whispered.

“Yes,” she barked. “And we’re getting married.”

“Talia—”

“You’re lying.”

She stepped closer. “I’m pregnant. With your child. And I’m not asking for your approval . We’re getting married, Cassian. End of story."

“Talia, this can't be true, me and you never happened so stop deceiving yourself”

“And just so you know. I have the CCTV footage. You and me. The Black Hood Suite. You don’t remember because you were too drunk to stand.”

I picked up the test strips looking at it in disbelief.

“And guess what?” she said, stepping even closer. “You’re going to stand beside me at that altar. Whether you like it or not. Because this time, I’m not waiting for you to make the decision.”

My mouth opened, in shock.

I wanted to scream at her. Accuse her. Demand proof. But all the pieces didn’t fit.

I remembered that night—I had blacked out. But did I...? Could I...

I didn’t know what to believe. And that scared the hell out of me.

She turned around and walked away.

I look at her, unable to wrap my hand around this.

Test still in my hand.

Mind racing.

Heart pounding.

And the only thing I could think about was…

Leah.

Then—before I could take a breath—

“Mr. Wolfe!”

I turned.

Elena, my secretary, rushed toward me breathless, folder in hand.

“Not now,” I said immediately..

She didn’t stop.

“I’m sorry, sir, but this is urgent. You need to see it. Immediately.”

I looked at her and the folder, I took the folder, flipping it open. My eyes scanned the first page. And stopped.

“No...” I muttered.

I flipped to the next. Then the next. All red. The numbers were low.

“Elena,” I said slowly. “Is this confirmed?”

“Yes, sir. The primary shareholder just pulled his entire investment. That’s 22% of the company’s control—and the market reacted immediately. Our stock is plummeting.”

A cold sweat formed along the back of my neck.

“How long do we have before this hits the board?”

“Thirty minutes. Maybe less.”

I shut the folder and inhaled deeply, trying to steady myself, I had barely processed Talia pregnancy news and now this?.

“ We will talk later.” I said, I clearly couldn't think now in this state.

“ And when would that be?, when the company runs into a laughing stock!” Someone shouted.

Vivienne.

My mother.

She walked towards me.

“I just got off the phone with Director Martin,” she said.

“Of course you did, always meddling.” I muttered.

“Cassian, what is happening?” she demanded. “How could you let this happen?”

“I didn’t let anything spiral,” I snapped. “Our investor pulled out without warning.”

Her jaw clenched. “Because your behavior has been erratic. After that girl's death you are barely yourself.”

I laughed bitterly. “ And whose fault is that.”

Vivienne exhaled, frustrated, and crossed her arms.

“Listen to me,” she said tightly. “There’s still a way out. We can clean this up. Talia’s father is willing to reinvest—if you agree to move the wedding forward.”

I stared at her.

“So that’s it,” I said. “You want me to save the company by marrying Talia.”

She didn’t blink. “You’ve done worse things for less.”

I stepped closer.. “You ruined the one good thing in my life. And I let you. But today… Today I tasted what I lost. And I’m not letting anyone steal it again.”

“I will not marry Talia,” I said, voice cold.

She stepped back, stunned. “Do you even know what you're saying?”

“I know exactly what I’m saying. I don't care if I lose it all.You want to destroy me, Mother? Be my guest. Burn it all. But I’m done being your puppet. And I’m sure as hell not marrying Talia, so do your worst.”

Aiden’s POVI opened the car door for her to enter but she was too busy looking around.“Oh my, it feels good to be out,” Rosy said, still looking around. “Ten years in that dump, breathing nothing but the stench of cheap bleach and dump and now—” She glanced around, inhaling again. “Now I can almost remember what power tastes like.”I held the door open a little wider. “Glad you’re enjoying the breeze.”She cut her eyes to me and gave me a face that meant business.“ Enough of the chit chat, how are the plans going?”“Smoothly,” I said. She looked at me and m, she laughed hysterically. The. She moved closer.“I didn’t spend ten years locked away,” she said slowly, “and I certainly didn’t waste twelve years prepping you up, Aiden, just to hear you mumble that things are going ‘smoothly.’” She said, mimicking the way I said smoothly. “Do you need me to remind you of who you were when I found you? Hmm?”I clenched my jaw. “No.”“I think you do.” She held my arm, her nails digging to my

Cassian's POV "No..." I whispered, as I stared at the flat-screen TV in my office. Leah didn’t just do that. She played it perfectly. Too perfectly. it wasn’t about her calling me a pedofile—God knows I probably deserve worse. But it was about the girl. Even though her face was partially blurred, even though she wore heavy makeup. Anyone who knew her would recognize that face. That she was Rosy’s daughter. And that for sure isn't good. I grabbed my phone and searched through the internet. I was trending or rather she was trending. #RosysDaughter. The comments were piling up. Speculations. Wild theories. But one post stood out. It had her full name. Her school. A recent photo. How on earth did Leah get her pics. My phone buzzed every second, from calls, to meessages. I ignored them all. I needed to control the damage first. I opened my laptop and drafted a quick press statement. "In light of the recent press statements made by Leah, I would like to clear the public t

Leah's POV I took a deep breath as I let them apply the finishing touch of my makeup. Then I heard a knock from the door and someone entered. It was Cassain. “ I just wanted to check up on you.” He said while closing the door I looked at him, trying to resist the urge of slapping him because I had a lot of pent up anger and things to say to him. “ Can you please excuse us?” I said to my makeup artist and everyone . They packed up and left my office, more like the storage room because clearly Vivienne made sure there was no office I could occupy so I had to stick to this. “ I am sorry, “ he said immediately as they left. I wanted to ask if he ever loved me but scratch that, I wanted to hit the bull by the horn. So I took the sharp hair pin on the table and walked to him. I moved closer to him, inches apart as I looked squarely in his eyes. And I pointed the sharp edge of the hairpin to my neck. “ Let me make it easy for you.” I said as I took his hand and placed i

Aiden’s POV“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath. The plan didn’t go how I wanted.Still, I wasn’t worried. Twenty years of my life had already gone into this, what were a few more months? Time wasn’t my enemy. The only thing standing in my way now was Leah. She wasn’t supposed to survive the warehouse fire.I had made sure everything was ready. The doors, the barrels, the timer. Everything. It would’ve been over. One clean sweep and I would finally have the Wolfe company all to myself. But then, Cassian just had to show up. He always had a way of messing things up. Maybe there was a way to use that to my advantage. Maybe I could turn this around.I knelt down and placed the single lily on my mother’s tombstone. “I’ll get the revenge you deserve,” I said , meaning every single word.“I promise, everyone who had a hand in your death will pay.” I continued fighting back the tears as I couldn't think of the painful memories ---I was ten when she died.My mom was strong. The kind of w

Leah's POVI banged the door hard—so hard I thought the door would break down. "Anyone here! Can someone please help me?" I shouted through the smoke. But there was no response. The smoke was suffocating. My eyes were watering. I coughed so hard I nearly dropped to my knees.Where the hell was my phone? Why didn’t I take it?I staggered backwards, hitting a crate. Everywhere was covered with smoke, I barely could see anything.I tried again. I screamed louder, my fust banging the door like my life depended on itBut still nothing.Damn it I shouldn't have come here, Aiden insisted I inspect the warehouse just in case Cassian or his mom tries to pull a fast one and since it was the workers lunchtime, it was just a perfect opportunity to inspect. Everyone who worked around here would be out.And now, I was choking to death trying to be smart. The heat was unbearable. I turned, covering my mouth with my sleeve, blinking through the smoke in the room , trying to search for anything tha

Cassian's POVThe boardroom was quiet. Old men in designer suits and women who believed their age could be hidden behind powdered faces all sat watching me like I was a boy who knew nothing about managing a company.“I have everything under control,” I said, not because I needed their assurance but just for formalities.Mrs. Sherry leaned forward in a frown. “ We don't need you to have everything under control, we need you to be in control and that would only be possible if your marriage to Talia happens.”There it was again back to Talia.I didn’t respond.Instead, I looked down at my wristwatch, watching time go because in about 3... 2... 1…Right on cue, the doors to the boardroom opened.Leah—no, Raven—walked in.Everyone turned and looked at her in shock , wondering who she was and why she was here. She didn't mind as she walked elegantly ignoring everyone.Vivienne stood up from her seat. “What are you doing here?” she snapped. “This meeting is for board members only. If you do
