Lucia and Mia’s playful banter was cut short when the dorm room door swung open, revealing a disheveled and red-eyed Sarah. She stood frozen for a second before letting out a shaky breath and stepping inside.

Lucia’s eyes widened as she quickly sat up. “Sarah?”

Mia, who had been reclining on her bed, immediately straightened. “Whoa. What happened to you?”

Sarah shut the door behind her and leaned against it, her arms wrapped around herself. Her lip trembled, and despite the obvious effort to hold it in, tears began to spill down her cheeks.

Lucia was on her feet in an instant, crossing the room. “Hey, hey, talk to us. What’s wrong?”

Sarah let out a choked laugh, wiping at her face. “Tonight was supposed to be perfect. I was supposed to have a romantic date with Jake.” Her voice cracked on his name, and fresh tears fell.

Mia frowned. “Let me guess. Jake turned out to be a jackass?”

Sarah let out a bitter chuckle as she sniffled. “Understatement of the year.” She swallowed hard and looked at them. “I thought he really liked me. But tonight, right in the middle of dinner, he tells me… he’s been seeing someone else.”

Lucia’s heart sank. “Oh, Sarah…”

Mia’s expression darkened. “You’re telling me he dragged you out on a date just to dump you? In public?”

Sarah laughed humorlessly. “Not just dump me. He said—and I quote—‘I don’t think you’re really my type, and I’ve been seeing someone who understands me better.’” She exhaled sharply. “Apparently, I was just… convenient until he found something better.”

Lucia’s fists clenched. “That’s awful.”

Mia’s jaw tightened. “I hope you threw your drink in his face.”

Sarah sniffled. “No… I just walked out. I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break down.”

Mia sighed, standing up. “You should have thrown something. He deserved it.”

Lucia wrapped an arm around Sarah’s shoulders. “You don’t have to hold it in. You’re allowed to be upset.”

Sarah let out a shaky breath and finally let herself sink into Lucia’s hug, her body trembling with quiet sobs.

Mia exhaled, running a hand through her hair. “I swear, guys like him should come with warning labels.”

Lucia glared at her. “Not the time, Mia.”

Mia raised her hands in surrender. “Fine, fine.” But then her eyes gleamed. “But seriously, just say the word, Sarah, and I can make his life miserable in creative ways.”

Despite her tears, Sarah let out a weak chuckle. “Thanks, Mia, but I think I just want to forget him.”

Lucia squeezed her shoulder. “We’re here for you.”

Sarah gave them both a watery smile. “I know.” She exhaled deeply. “I just… need some sleep.”

Mia nodded. “Good call. Sleep first, revenge later.”

Lucia rolled her eyes, helping Sarah settle in. As they turned off the lights, the room fell into silence—except for the occasional sniffle from Sarah.

Lucia sighed, staring up at the ceiling. Tonight had been way more eventful than she expected.

Dangerous.Without a word, she stepped aside.Sarah instinctively rose from her seat beside Lucia, who was curled up on the dorm bed, wrapped tightly in a blanket, still trembling.Adrian’s gaze landed on her—and something inside him snapped. Her top was torn at the collar. A fresh bruise bloomed on her arm. Her lips were pale. Her eyes distant. She looked small. Broken.Because of him.His fists clenched at his sides.Mia’s voice was low and grim. “Some bastards cornered her.”Sarah's voice cracked as she added, “She barely made it back.”Adrian’s voice was ice. “Who did this?”Lucia’s whisper barely rose above the silence. “I don’t know.”He ran a shaky hand through his hair, fighting the tidal wave of rage that threatened to explode. It was barely a week and her school life was everything but simple. She couldn't attend classes again because she wanted to avoid getting photographed. Sarah and Mia took turns attending any of her classes that they could. She was basically staying in her dorm, trapped like a lab rat, until threats started materializing. It started with letters. At first, Lucia ignored them. The first one had been slipped under her dorm door—just a simple, handwritten note."Stay away from him. You’re not worthy."The second came two days later, tied with a black ribbon."Girls like you should know their place."She had laughed it off, tossing the letters in the trash. But then came the “gifts.”A bouquet of rotting flowers. A dead rat left outside their door. And the worst one—a shredded, burnt-up photograph of her, a dark red lipstick stain smeared across it like blood.Mia had been furious."Those miserable cowards," she had spat, pacing the dorm. "They don’t even have the guts to say it to your face

Lucia had a bad feeling about this.Adrian wasn’t the type to get flustered. He wasn’t the type to panic or back down when things went out of control. He was the type to take charge, to turn a mess into a game—one where he always won.And right now? That glint in his eyes told her he was about to make his move.“I don’t need you to ‘handle’ me,” she said, crossing her arms. “I’ll clear this up myself.”Adrian hummed, unconvinced. “And how exactly do you plan to do that?”“I’ll tell people the truth—that I’m not involved with you.”His lips curved into something dangerously close to amusement. “And you think they’ll just believe you?”Lucia clenched her jaw. He had a point. Even if she tried to deny it, the more she talked, the more people would twist her words.Adrian took a step closer, lowering his voice so only she could hear. “There are two ways we can play this, Lucia. You can keep resisting and let the media dig through your life, trying to find something more interesting.” He t

Lucia was exhausted. After a long day of classes, she just wanted to go back to her dorm, crawl into bed, and pretend the past 24 hours hadn’t happened. The fundraiser, the overnight stay at Adrian’s place, the awkward morning after—it was too much. But the moment she stepped out of her class, she knew something was off.People were staring. Whispering. Some even had their phones out, texting, recording, snapping pictures.Lucia frowned, nudging Mia. “Do I have something on my face?”Mia, just as confused, looked around. “No, but people are looking at you like you just became a celebrity overnight.”That’s when Lucia’s phone vibrated. A text from Sarah.Sarah: “Where the hell are you? Did you see the news about you and Adrian ?!”Lucia’s stomach dropped. Before she could respond, her phone buzzed again—this time, a call. She picked up instantly. “Sarah, what are you talking about?”Sarah’s voice was frantic. “It’s all over the internet, Lucia! People are saying you’re Adrian’s mystery

  • The Billionaire's Distraction    Chapter 18: The Morning After: A Reality Check for Adrian

Adrian woke up feeling strangely… lighter. It was an unusual sensation—one he hadn't experienced in years. Last night on the balcony, Lucia had let him in, even if just a little, and for the first time, she didn’t treat him like some detestable Alien. He almost smiled at the memory. As he headed towards the kitchen, he heard laughter—Mia and Ethan, still bickering like children over breakfast. Lucia, sitting at the counter, looked up at him, her expression unreadable.Adrian, feeling uncharacteristically confident, leaned against the counter."So, did last night change your perspective on me?" he asked, a teasing glint in his eyes.Lucia didn't hesitate. She met his gaze head-on and replied flatly, “Not really.”Adrian blinked. For some reason, that… stung.Lucia sighed, pushing her plate aside. “Look, Adrian. I appreciate last night, but let’s not get any ideas, okay? You’re a billionaire who has a million and one things he could do and a billion people ready to fall at your feet so I

  • The Billionaire's Distraction    Chapter 17: Beneath the City Lights

Lucia let out a slow breath, gripping the cool metal railing of the balcony as the city stretched out before her. From up here, the skyline gleamed like scattered diamonds, the city houses tiny and distant from the Adrian's mansion . A soft breeze brushed against her face, carrying the faint scent of rain and city smoke. For the first time in hours, the chaos of the night faded. She hadn’t meant to wander. One moment, she was laughing at Ethan and Mia’s flour-covered disaster, the next, she was slipping away, drawn by the glass doors leading to the balcony. Maybe it was the quiet. Or maybe it was the way the view reminded her of how small she was compared to the world—something she had always known but never quite accepted.Lost in thought, she barely noticed the presence behind her until a familiar voice broke the silence.“You didn’t strike me as the type to enjoy quiet moments.”Lucia startled slightly, turning to see Adrian leaning against the doorway, hands tucked into his pocket
