The days turn into weeks that speed up really, really fast, faster than Loretta would have guessed. Halloween was coming up, and luckily that was Loretta's favorite holiday because of the same rituals every year. While some thought it was getting old, Loretta still loved them: the office Halloween parties, the unending candy, the different Halloween costumes each year, and the feeling of nausea when she got back home from all the bad combinations of punch and candy.

She was never drunk at any of these parties, just really high on sugar, which to her was almost as good as saying she was drunk.

But this year was going to be different. She just knew it. She wasn't quite acquainted with the difference; she wasn't sure how a bit was going to be, but she knew it was going to be different with Kendrick, because of Kendrick.
