True Colors

I can't really comprehend what's about to happen. But all I can say is, I'm not ready for this. His eyes were so dark, he's about to kill me. My heart started beating fast and my knees are trembling. When he's finally near me, he held my jaw tightly. It hurts so much, he's almost trying to break my bone. I could barely breathe and all I could think now is how I can escape from him. A tear escaped from my eyes. There's no way I could ever escape from him.

"Young Master!" Another voice was heard coming from the outside. I can also hear footsteps coming towards us. I gasped when the man who arrived was able to pull the Young Master away from me. I held unto my chest. I really thought I'm about to die.

"Get that woman out of here!!! I don't want to see her again!!! Fire her, you got me, Hilario?!" The Young Master shouted angrily at Armand.

Armand then without hesitation, walked to me, grabbed my wrist and pulled me outside the room. I never thought that the Young Master would react like that. It was just a crumpled paper, right? Although it could also be my fault, for touching his things without his permission, I just really thought that he's the kind of person who do not value such paper.

"What in the world did you do to make the Young Master mad, Dorothy?" Armand asked as he continued dragging me. Before we could even go downstairs, he stopped and faced me. His face was serious. I shifted my gaze to my side. I can't tell the truth to him. I am guilty but I couldn't bear losing this job. But if I lie, I will surely make things worse.

I looked at Armand and immediately bowed at him..

"H-hey..." He was surprised.

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again! Please give me a chance to do my job properly! If you do, I'll surely do better! Just please, don't fire me!" I closed my eyes when I felt that I am about to cry.

I heard him sighed.

"Silly. I am not the boss here. The Young Master will surely go and tell Mr. Bertrand to fire you so you should go first and explain yourself to Mr. Bertrand before the Young Master does."

I slowly lifted my head up and thanked him. I didn't waste any time and ran to Mr. Bertrand's office. Because I was in a hurry, I bumped unto someone. I heard her cussed.

"This b*tch! Watch it!"

"I'm sorry!" I apologized and when I get to look at her face, my eyes automatically widened. She's wearing a sexy outfit, and sparkling gold jewelries. Her hair was tied into a bun and her lips were red. She has red mini skirt and red halter top. Her skin's fair light and has protruding eye shape. She also looks like she's in her 30's.

Is she Mr. Bertrand's secretary?

"Do you even know who I am?" She asked with her chin up. I shook my head as an answer.

"Oh, so you must be the new maid. I'm sorry if I have not shown myself to you yesterday, I was busy. Lowlives aren't really part of my schedules so it would just be a waste of time."

The tone of her voice is the same as the Young Master. Could it be that this woman is the mother of the Young Master and the wife of Mr. Bertrand? I looked at her from head to toe. She doesn't look professional at all.

"Oh now you have the guts to look at me like that? Who the hell are you, young lady?"

"N-no, ma'am. I was thinking of how gorgeous you are." I lied.

"I know right." She confidently said and rolled her eyes as went inside the office.

I faked a smile. I was just kidding. She believed that?

The door didn't close so I immediately went inside. There I saw Mr. Bertrand sitting at his table, talking with the woman I bumped into. At my side were two people sitting on a couch. One is a lady and the other a guy. Their foreheads were knotted as they shifted their gazes on me.

"Yes, young lady? You need something?" Mr. Bertrand asked. He looked so sweet and innocent and gentle. He's the kind of boss who wouldn't treat his servants badly.

The woman I bumped into looked at me from head to toe as she raised her right eyebrow. She probably wanted me to leave because I am only trying to disturb them. I ignored her and returned my gaze on Mr. Bertrand. I can't waste any time.

"C-can I talk to y-you-"

"Hey, you! You're being disrespectful, can't you see?! You came here inside without even knocking and asking for permission! Haven't you lowlives being taught of the word respect?!" The woman raised her voice on me.

"Stop, Gretchen." Mr. Bertrand stood up from his seat and walked towards me. "What's your name again, young lady?"

"Dorothy, sir."

"Dorothy, I want you to meet my wife, Gretchen." He introduced me to the woman I bumped into. So I was right. She is the mother of the Young Master. They indeed have similarities.

Mr. Bertrand pointed the two who were sitting at the couch so they stood up.

"That's Charmaine Heather, the lady's maid. She's the one who helps my wife dress, do her hair, and generally to look after my wife in any way that was needed." He pointed the lady who's just the same age as me.

"And that's Christian Tapay, a valet. Just like the lady's maid, but he is assigned to a male, that is, to my son, Gabriel." He pointed the guy beside the lady's maid. The both of them bowed at me and smiled. I did as well.

"Speaking of Gabriel, he hasn't woke up yet?" Mr. Bertrand asked the two.

"Armand already went to wake him up, sir." Christian answered and Mr. Bertrand nodded.

"So, Dorothy. What do you want?" Mr. Bertrand asked me again. I was about to answer him when someone barged in. We heard his heavy footsteps. We all turned to face him and it's the Young Master! His facial expression hasn't changed. He still looked so mad! I saw Armand tailing him.

"Dad, fire this woman right now!!!" The Young Master angrily stated as he pointed me. Mrs. Bertrand worriedly went near her son, confused because of what's happening.

"What's going on, son?" Mr. Bertrand asked him.

"She just tore something valuable to me!"

"I'm sorry, Y-young Master! I-it's just that... I thought t-the paper's already a t-trash because it's c-crumpled!" I explained myself as I looked down. I can't bear to see his scary face. It will surely appear in my dream as a nightmare.

"If it's a trash, I should've thrown it in a trash can!"

"Oh, son. What value does that crumpled paper have? We can just buy you a new and expensive paper." Mrs. Bertrand said.

"No, Mom! You don't understand it! It's very important! I am not talking about the paper at all! It's the content there!"

"Stop it." Mr. Bertrand intervened as he massaged his temple. "I still have important things to do. Since Dorothy didn't mean tearing the crumpled paper, just forgive her son. She didn't know it was still even useful. Now, excuse me."

Mr. Bertrand went outside. Armand, before following him, looked at me and slightly bowed. Now we're left here. Mrs. Bertrand and her son both glared at me.

"You're a manipulator, aren't you? Anyway, because of what you did to my son, I won't be able to forgive you! Come, son." Mrs. Bertrand dragged his son out.

I went to my room and thought deeply. What am I doing right now? Why am I in such a situation?

I heard a knock on my door and there showed the head housemaid, Mrs. Garcia. She gave me a task. I was assigned in Mrs. Bertrand's room, together with my fellow housemaid, Joy.

"Hey, I noticed you've been spacing out." Joy said.

"I'm sorry." I faked a smile.

"Is it about Mr. Gabriel and Mrs. Bertrand?" I looked at her. How did she knew?

"Well, they're both evil." She continued and shrugged. "They actually have fired a lot of servants even though we weren't doing anything wrong. They're only nice to you when there are other people from outside watching, but in this mansion, they're the opposite."

I scoffed.

"So in this mansion, they're showing their true colors, huh?" I whispered to myself.
