Chapter 13: Punched him in the face.

Kiandra turned and left as she didn’t want to be further humiliated. When she got outside the man's office, she saw all the employees who were present giving her a sad look.

It seemed they had heard everything that had happened in there and this only added to Kiandra's humiliation.

Deciding not to pay any attention to their looks, she held her head high as she walked away from them to the elevator.

As soon as she left the building, she immediately brought out her phone and called Samantha as she needed someone to vent to.

“Are you that free that you have time to call me twenty minutes after you resumed?” Samantha asked jovially after she answered the call.

“I got fired,” Kiandra told Samantha. If she didn't, the latter would have spent minutes urging Kiandra to tell her about her experience and this would only add to Kiandra's already sore wound.

“What?!” Samantha screamed in school. “How?” she demanded an explanation, to which Kiandra didn’t hesitate to give.

“Why is that bastard hell-bent on ruining your life!” Samantha exclaimed after Kiandra was done.

“I asked myself the same question,” Kiandra chuckled bitterly.

“Do you think he is doing this because he knows who Zendaya is?” Samantha asked in fear.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” Kiandra sighed. Lucas Valencia wasn't someone who was easy to understand and so the reason for him doing all what he had just done was still puzzling to her.

“What are you going to do?” Samantha asked, her voice filled with worry and concern for her friend.

“I don’t know. I’m just standing aimlessly outside the building that was supposed to be my office.” Kiandra answered and chuckled bitterly.

“I should hang up, so you can get back to work,” Kiandra said when she heard Samantha being called in the background. “Bye,” she said and hung up.

‘Lucas Valencia, the biggest devil in my life,’ Kiandra muttered to herself.

“Are you talking about me?” She heard the devil’s voice from behind her. Turning, she came face to face with the biggest regret she had in life. Was she that engrossed in her call for her not to notice that he was behind her?

“What do you think? How would you feel if you were fired on the first day of your job for no reason, Mr Valencia?” Kiandra asked calmly, even though she was boiling inside.

If she had a gun right there and then, there was no telling that she wouldn't fire it at the man standing in front of her.

“No one can fire me, I’m the CEO of my company,” Lucas replied, and Kiandra felt a powerful urge to strangle him. Too bad she couldn’t do it.

“Just because you have money and power, you think it’s okay to treat everyone else like dirt?” she scoffed in disbelief and Lucas nodded.

“That’s the natural order of things,” he said, and Kiandra had to gather every ounce of her self-control to stop herself from doing something she would regret.

“I got this job after much hardship. Why did you take it away from me?” Kiandra asked, her voice strained.

“Because I could,” Lucas answered nonchalantly.

Seeing that talking to Lucas would just make her more mad, Kiandra turned to leave. “Do I know you?” Lucas asked out of nowhere, causing her to stop in her tracks.

When he saw her at the park yesterday, he noticed how she reacted to seeing him. It was only for a second, but he didn’t miss it. There was a look of recognition along with hatred in her eyes.

Today as well, when she saw him, he noticed the same horrified mixed with hatred expression she had even though it was for a split second.

He didn’t know who she was, but she appeared to know him based on her expression, and that was what he was trying to figure out.

So that meant he didn’t know who she was. Kiandra thought to herself and she heaved a sigh of relief. “No!” she answered without turning back.

“Hmm,” Lucas muttered. “You have a pretty daughter by the way,” he commented and that was the last straw for Kiandra as she turned and punched Lucas right in the face with every ounce of strength she could gather.

Pain shot through her hand but she didn't let it show on her face and punching Lucas seemed to calm her down a bit.

“Keep my daughter out of your mouth,” she growled with a murderous expression on her face.

After what he did, he had no right to speak about her daughter and not even to think of her. After all, he once tried to murder her and there was no telling if he wouldn’t try to do the same again if he found out who Zendaya was. After all, he had made it clear what he thought about her and children.

Lucas was beyond shocked at the audacity of the woman. No woman had ever done or attempted to do what the woman had just done and in a big way, his ego was bruised.

“You’ll regret doing what you just did,” he growled in anger.

“Till then,” Kiandra retorted, using Lucas’ own words on him. She took one step closer to him so she could say what she wanted to.

“You’re a lowlife piece of shit who needs to be taught a lesson for your attitude and actions. One day, I’ll get back at you for what you've done to me today and you’ll wish you had never done so. Mark my words, Lucas Valencia.!”

And with that, Kiandra turned and finally left. Lucas stood in his spot minutes after she had left, as he was in a state of shock over what had just happened.

When he finally got over his shock, he brought out his phone and called someone. “Find out everything you know about Kiandra Aidan,” he instructed the person and disconnected the call.

‘You just played with fire, and you’re going to get burnt,’ he muttered to himself.

After Kiandra left Lucas standing shocked, she immediately headed to her daughter’s school and picked Zendaya up, as she knew her daughter would be more than happy to spend time with her than at the daycare.

It was after she got into the taxi that she realized that she had just made a terrible mistake by punching Lucas, even though he deserved it.

There was a probability that he would come after her and Zendaya even though he didn’t know that she was his daughter, and that was why she picked the little girl up, so her mind could be at rest.

“Mummy, do you want to watch cartoons with me?” Zendaya asked, not knowing the state her mother was in when they got home.

“No honey, go ahead,” Kiandra said as she handed over the tablet to her daughter.

She needed to start looking for another job as she was starting to go short on money.

She was tired of disturbing Desmond and Nana. Her mother wasn’t even an option, as she hadn’t seen nor spoken to her ever since that night she transferred the ten thousand dollars to her.

She brought out her laptop and started searching for a job in the city. No company would be comfortable hiring someone without any experience and after so many rejections, she finally got a good job, but the bastard took it away from her before she could start.

Tomorrow, she would get a job as a cashier or something, pending when she will finally get a good job.

‘I won’t let you bring me down again, Lucas Valencia,’ she muttered to herself.
