LOGINChapter 7
Best Friend
***
POV: Lia Salvador
It’s been two weeks.
Two freaking weeks after my wedding with Renz.
I already moved out of my apartment and lived with him in his small, simple house.
Well, he is disguising himself as a construction worker anyway. I don’t even know why he is doing all of that.
However, that is beyond the point.
It’s been two f*cking weeks, and it seems like I haven’t got a husband.
I don’t know whether he is just busy or he is avoiding me.
This setup is already draining my brain cells.
I purse my lips together into a thin line.
For some reason, would it be good enough to have this kind of situation now? It would be better that we don’t have anything to do with each other – like strangers.
However, a huge part of me just wouldn’t let me think that way.
Especially my heart.
I swallow hard.
“Hey! You are early today…” Cali points out – as she enters the café.
I try to give her a small smile.
“Well, I woke up early so…” I trail off – didn’t know what to say more.
But Cali seems not to notice a thing.
She chuckles at me.
“Well, it’s a big day today. We have a huge order coming up.”
The entire day passed by quickly.
I don’t even find myself being so hungry – just when I see food on the tray. My stomach began growling.
Cali even laughed at me.
“The wedding is extravagant and romantic…” Cali commented dreamily – as we took our lunch.
Then, she looks at me with her wide, hopeful, dark brown eyes.
“I wonder… You haven’t talked about it yet!” Cali uttered excitedly.
I pretend not to know about it. So, I look at her innocently.
“Talk about what?” I retorted back.
Cali beamed at me.
“Oh, come on! You haven’t told me about your story with Renz! Even about your wedding! So, how was it?” She said eagerly.
I don’t know what to say.
Firstly, there is nothing to say.
And secondly, it is not as if I married for love.
I swallow hard.
Cali eyed me hopefully – and so I breathed discreetly.
Then, I give her a small smile.
“Oh, spill it now. I am so excited and-”
I don’t know whether I will breathe smoothly until our alarm rings – ending our lunch break – and finally realizing that I have already escaped Cali’s questions.
Finally, the day ended – without Cali trying to ask me more questions about my relationship with Renz.
It was exhausting enough and her questions were making me more dog-tired.
I was about to take the route home when I realized that Renz might not be home yet. And I would simply be alone again.
I decided to go to a restaurant and eat there instead.
Besides, it is just some blocks away. The sun hasn't set yet – and even so, the streetlights are working just fine.
It might take my half’s monthly salary, but I don’t care.
Being alone in the house is making me feel so suffocated.
I have to think and it would be better if I am at a different place.
Besides, I sometimes treat myself here.
And so, the employees already knew me.
I stopped at the door – El Restaurante de Viajes, as it is written on the top of the establishment and so was the small podium where the waitress stood.
“Good evening, Ma’am. Do you have a reservation?” The waitress inquired while her eyes sticked to her papers.
Then, her eyes lifted at me – eventually recognizing me. She gave me a warm smile.
“Oh, Lia. You’re here… Same table?” She asked courteously.
I gave her an earnest smile.
“If it is available…” I replied kindly.
She nodded at me – and guided me to the farthest part of the restaurant.
The place is still magnificent and peaceful. The plants scattered in the restaurant creates a sense of privacy and serenity.
“Same order, Merida.” I told the waitress – which immediately obliged.
I was about to look at the glass – overlooking the vast backyard of the restaurant when some called my name.
“Aurelia?”
I froze on the spot – upon hearing that name.
My hands began trembling – but I almost breathed heavily when I saw Eina, my best friend and cousin.
She is looking at me with her forehead creased – as if trying to make sure that it was me.
I smiled at her warmly.
Her mouth forms a huge ‘O’ – as she takes the chair in front of me.
“H-How are you? I almost… didn’t recognize you. If it wasn’t for…” Eina uttered absentmindedly.
Eina is a distant relative.
My parents just wouldn’t want to do it with her family. And it was because of the fact that Eina’s family wasn’t that elite enough – as my parents described them.
However, that made us even grew closer. She is the only one who would always support me – whatever happens, she always got my back and so do I.
And I wouldn’t be surprised that she discovered me behind my disguise right now. I have done this disguise once when we were still studying – especially when I wanted to get out of our house and breathe.
And now, she found me.
“How are you?”
It might be a short and simple question – but Eina knew what hides behind those words.
Eina let out a deep sigh – as she leaned on her chair.
She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked at me seriously.
“Stop that… I know that you are not asking about me.” Eina scoffed and stared at me directly.
“They are in chaos and still trying to find you. I might add… They are livid.” She added seriously.
I let out a deep sigh.
I knew that this might happen.
Besides, it took me years to hide from them already.
And hoping that it will continue that way.
However, thinking about them now – was giving me a headache.
I unconsciously held my temples as I let out a deep exhale.
But Eina stared at me with her eyes wide.
“You… What the heck, Aurelia?!” She tried to hush down her voice – but that made me almost jump out of my chair.
“You got married?!” Eina uttered unbelievingly – making my heart start beating wildly inside my chest.
Chapter 11Doubts***POV: Lia Salvador“W-What… W-What did you just s-say?”Renz smirks at me.It was as if he wasn’t buying my expression – as if telling me to stop making excuses… to stop lying to him.But I am not lying. How could he say that?‘To marry him?’Then, it suddenly hit me.‘My parents went the extra mile just to make it come true?’I close my eyes.Damn it!“Why? Does it ring a bell now?” Renz is trying to push all of my buttons. It is working. But not to the way he is thinking about – not for the same reason that I knew he might be thinking of.My parents.I can’t believe they finally resort to this.Even when I have already run away. They are still at it!Damn it!I anxiously run my finger on my hair.“I… I don’t know…” I uttered in a whisper. But Renz won’t just buy it. He chuckles without humor.“Stop playing so innocent, Princess Aurelia…”For the second time, he calls me by my real name. And for the second time, my heart skips its beat. However, it isn’t the time
Chapter 10Reason***POV: Lia SalvadorIt takes me time to finally gather myself. What the heck!I just kissed Lawrence McGregor!Who wouldn’t have their legs get wobbly if that happens?!I swallow hard – as I slowly open the door.I instantly close my eyes because of the ear-splitting noise coming from the door as it opens. The eerie sound coming from the door is just too embarrassing for me to hear right now.It just makes my heart race like a mouse who might be caught by a cat – lurking behind the door.My eyes instantly look around – trying to spot where Renz is.But he is nowhere to be found.Well, I couldn’t help but to breathe heavily.I don’t even know whether it is a good thing or not.Well, for a moment, I just feel so embarrassed. I don’t know how to react. I don’t even know what to say. However, I know I need clarifications.I just don’t know whether I could handle talking to him right now.I moved slowly out of my room.It seems to be a miracle that I am able to move my
Chapter 9Real***POV: Lia SalvadorI called Cali earlier in the morning to tell her that I couldn’t go to work today. My sprained ankle still hurts – and I told her that I couldn’t go to work. However, despite my painful ankle, memories about last night filled my thoughts, enough for me to smile brightly.I bit my lower lip to ease the tickling sensation on my stomach – like butterflies lingering inside it.“You are just starving, Lia. Get a grip of yourself girl…” I whispered to myself – as I was trying to stifle my own sheepish smile that keeps on appearing.Damn it!I couldn’t help but feel excited.Even until now, I could still feel Renz’ strong arms on me. It might be strong, but I could feel his gentleness on me.His strong arms brought that kind of thrill and filled my inner excitement to the moon. Not to mention his contracting biceps – giving me that warmth and serenity.I must say that being able to experience what it feels like to be caged inside his arms made me more and
Chapter 8Forget***POV: Lia SalvadorI lost track of time – just by talking to Eina.We have a lot of things to talk about. And I can’t believe that I felt so exhausted to the verge of feeling so down right now.It seems like my mind is spinning spirally. I don’t know what to think of anymore.I let out a deep sigh.*** Flashback…“You got married?!”I am just grateful that we are far away from the other customers.Eina didn’t change one bit.She is still so loquacious.I eyed her – as if telling her to keep her voice low. And it seems like she immediately understands and pouts her lips.If we are in a different situation, I would have let out a bark of laughter because of the way she looks right now – but then, that isn’t the case.We are in serious trouble. So, I began telling her about my contract marriage with Renz.Eina is my distant cousin. And she is my most trusted best friend – a sister that I couldn’t have. I trust her fully enough to tell her everything. On the contrary,

Chapter 6Question***POV: Lia SalvadorI thought I could still flex my wedding dress at some people. It might look so simple, but I truly love it!Renz made me think so.However, I am wrong.I didn’t even have a chance to invite Cali.If I knew that it would end up like this – I should have asked for the money he spent on this dress and wore that white dress inside my dresser, which I used when I was asked by our neighbor to be her daughter’s godmother. But then, I realized that this could be a better option.First, no one could blow up my cover. Better be careful than be caught up with my parents later on.And second, we will soon get a divorce. It would be hard for me to explain to people how we ended up like that. Of course, no one would ask Renz – but to me, it’s a different case. I don’t want to bug my mind out – thinking of possible reasons to say.I discreetly rolled my eyes because of my thoughts.Besides, it is as if this is a ‘real’ wedding. I mean. Yes, we did sign the ma

Chapter 2 Tragic Night *** POV: Lia Salvador “I’m really sorry for the short notice, Lia.” Cali apologetically told her. I smile at her. “It’s okay, Cali. I understand. Besides, it is an emergency. You need to tend your grandma. Family first, right?” I reminded her. I suddenly felt a hollowne
