Ariella could only watch in silence. She was on a chair, hands and legs tied to the back, and her mouth sealed with tape. Her blonde hair, mixed with sweat, was scattered over her face, eyes pleading for mercy as the man forcefully removed the tape from her mouth. It stung, and she whimpered lowly, her voice almost sore from the previous yelling. Just this morning when she woke up, her body didn't feel well, so she opted for the hospital alone since her husband wasn't around. But upon heading back home, she was suddenly stopped by these dangerous-looking people in a van, and that was how she found herself with men fully armed on the first floor of an uncompleted building. "Mrs. Taylor, it seems like you want this done the hard way. The fun wouldn't be complete without your husband. He owes me something important." The hardened voice came again in reminder. Ariella gulped down with fear. "Get my phone." "What? Do you think we're playing a game here?" "I have a way you can reach him and it's through a number saved as Arietta on my phone." She wasn't sure but the doubt tugged at her ever since her husband left for his supposed business trip. Her husband, Sebastian Taylor was the CEO of the NYGreen Corp - one of the biggest finance companies in New York. They got married six years ago after Arietta, her twin sister, had abandoned her wedding ceremony for her modeling and acting career in Europe. Ariella and Arietta were identical twins born into the famous Williams family but fate took a different turn when a female servant stole Ariella immediately after birth. She worked in the Williams family mansion, resulting in running away with the newborn baby out of hate. That enforced so many unfortunate things in Ariella's life - from being raised as a pauper in the slums down to being mistreated by the female servant and her drunkard boyfriends. It just happened that six years ago, she was, as usual, running from being beaten to death by the one of the servant's boyfriend. Then she ran into her biological parents and was almost hit by their car. She thought her life was finally changing for the better but she was only made to replace her sister in marriage. At first, the marriage was all rosy, at least for the first year and a half, until her twin sister returned to New York, and Sebastian realized the entire game played by the Williams family. A harsh voice boomed over the phone, bringing her back to her harsh reality. The man had done as she said. "Why are you disturbing my peace, bitch?" "I need to talk to my husband. Please, put him on the phone. It's urgent." "As your servant or his keeper?" Arietta scoffed. "Though, you're right. I'm the only one who can reach him at the moment. Something that even his so-called wife can't do." Ariella's heart shattered at the realization. He lied to her after all, just to be with his only true love. After her sister had suddenly returned to take back her position in Sebastian's life, he had also become indifferent towards her. It shocked her even more that she was the only one he'd punished for that despite being fully aware that she was compelled by her real parents as the only condition to take her back into the Williams family. "Mrs. Taylor's life is in my hands now. I can decide to take her life at any moment and that depends on how you act." The man took over the conversation impatiently. There was a little pause until the familiar manly voice said in the background, more to Ariella's dismay. "Sweetcheeks, who are you speaking to?" "Oh, it's no one important. I'll soon join you in the bathroom, my lovely Seb." Arietta gave that response on purpose to spite her sister on the other end. Especially because of the pet names Sebastian started calling her ever since she returned to his life. She and her twin sister had the same nickname 'Ari' but that was now used to refer to only Ariella just a few times. A cold reply emerged from Arietta seconds later. "The fake Mrs. Taylor is who you have there. Anyway, make your decision on what to do with her fast." The call disconnected with a loud beep. The man angrily threw the phone to the wall, gripping tight to Ariella's neck afterward. She groaned, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her twin sister and supposed husband were both having fun while she suffered at the hands of his business rival. "Your husband fucking took an important collaboration from me and now, he's out enjoying with a chick?" The man spat and pushed down the things on the table nearby which included her bag and everything inside. A brown envelope fell out and it caught the man's eye as his gaze remained fixed on it. He brought out the paper result and smirked all of a sudden. "You're his wife after all. If I can't have the collaboration to myself, then I can take something else away from him." He untied her, slowly bringing to Ariella's awareness what he wanted to take. Her hands flew subconsciously to shield her stomach; her baby was a living testament to the pregnancy test result. While she yelled with tears, trying all the means to protect the three-week-old fetus inside her, some of the armed men approached her and pinned her down in front of them. "I'm Scott." The unknown man was eventually introduced. "Your dear husband said to do anything I pleased with you by the way." "It's a lie." Ariella spat amidst struggles. Scott smirked and brought out his phone. "You don't want to believe it, do you?" He clicked on a record that began playing in seconds. Ariella couldn't contain her shock. The record contained the voices of Scott and the other person, who was none other than her husband. Her husband was warned before she was kidnapped but he didn't bother to plead for her life. "See? I was still playing nicely until now. Your f*cking husband will just have to lose the only right to become a father. He doesn't deserve it. Don't you agree?" Scott's smirk widened, his right hand clinging tight to the syringe as he brought it closer to Ariella."What exactly are you hiding from me?" He took another step forward. "Are you really the Ari I know from the past?"Arietta flinched, stepping back instantly. Words failed her at the moment. Or if there were any description greater. He called her name in full for the first time since they met.It had been just a few years after Sebastian returned home and regained his memories. He had just taken over the family's company as the CEO and had gone to the departmental store to get a birthday present for his mother. Then, he met her, also shopping for luxury bags and other ladies' items. Out of shock and relief that he had finally seen the lady he had always sought, he called out the only name he remembered. "Ari." And she responded and agreed without denial. That was how their love story began.Ari. The only woman who became friends with a young man who had just lost his memories. In that small fishing village where nobody knew his identity, she helped him manage a rural life he wasn
"Now, I know why Arietta is a lost cause." Ariella breathed out, suddenly breaking the tension that had gripped her since she walked into that suite."You raised her after all.""What?" Both Mrs. Williams and Arietta shouted simultaneously, shock cascading over their features. She took a step closer. "It's been five years mother. Five years of being apart and that is all you could say to a daughter you claimed to be worried about. You've always been so caring and lenient with Arietta. Despite knowing that she tried to kill me, you still want me to be the forgiving one when she hasn't earned that forgiveness.""You've gotten it all wrong." Her mother chipped in. "Your sister didn't try to kill you. That man threatened her to say all of those things and made it look like she was against you.""Did she say that to you?" Ariella scoffed, unable to contain the surprise of what she had just heard as she glanced at her sister."Is that what you told them?"Arietta walked up to their mother.
Thirty minutes passed and she was still sitting in her car, head resting on the wheel. Not until the knock on the glass that jolted her out of her thoughts. She lifted her head, her gaze meeting a pair of intimidating eyes through the tinted glass. His eyes searched inside as if he could see through as yet another knock came. A deep exhale and she unlocked the car, stepping out in the next second."You're home."Her tone lacked the usual warmth and he noticed. The way her puffy eyes stared at everything else but him. She had been crying a while ago and knowing the reason behind her tears made his knuckles tighten beside him. Earlier, when he went to confirm her presence after Theo had informed him of her arrival, he had seen from the window, whom she saw. Whom she spoke with. Even though, he barely heard what they discussed. They made her cry once again."Ella..." He tried to say but she interrupted him in that instant."Can I hug you?" Her glossy eyes locked in his brown orbs brief
"Careful there. I'm made for this."A smirk. A toss.Another toss that clashed with silence. An unusual quiet emanated from the tension of people wrapped in expensive tobacco that swarmed in the air.Outside the dimly lit space, faint rhythmic music bled through the heavy walls of their vault. The hustling and bustling of the club a few meters surrounded it. The few onlookers inside the private VIP lounge tracked every play, torn between two heavy hitters."Trailing." Vincent Calloway purred, leaning slightly forward with a smirk close to victory. "You seem to have lost your touch over the years. How certain is the old man that he sent you here?"No words. Just the continual flipping of cards until the sudden quiet that stilled the atmosphere and held breaths."You'll stay away from the new Japanese investors and everything that concerns their investments." Damian eventually stated, his eyes still pinned on the cards. "And all of your damn shipments belong to the Moores."Then, just
Damian Moore, an influential business tycoon in America, was Ariella's childhood friend in the slums until life changed for him. Almost similar to Ariella's situation, his family lost him to the ocean at his three-year birthday party on a yacht, but a fisherman found him and raised him until his fa
Seconds passed yet there was no response. Then, the door was unlocked, creaking open as it revealed Arietta standing akimbo by the entrance. A smirk played on her lips, seeing her sister's state, and she tilted her head when their eyes met. "Sebastian is the one you want. You can have him, and I
"I made that happen," Arietta smirked. "It was only unfortunate that you were unconscious when I called back and Scott didn't hesitate to reform you into what I wanted for the scandal. Now, nobody will look at you the same way ever again. Not my parents or even my Seb." She added quite lowly for Se
The beeping machine and the nurses' movements inside the ward stirred Ariella awake as she sat up instantly, hands flying down to her stomach despite the IV line connected to her right hand."How is my baby?""We're sorry, but you lost the baby before you reached the hospital, and that was two days
