Chapter 11

The phone rang for the third time after I declined the first two calls from a caller ID registered as Andra. I am left with no choice but to sneak my way into Nicholas's room on the second floor. The Spencer's mansion is massive and the halls lead to different parts of the house. They didn't give me a proper tour around their humble abode. The only part of this place that I know as if it's the back of my hand is the second floor, Nicholas's room which is on the farthest side of the hall next to an arched window where natural lights come in each day and moonlight illuminates each night.

I glance around the hall just to make sure that I am all alone before I knock once at the closed door of Nicholas's room. I waited for a few seconds before I raised my hand about to bang the door for the second time around when it opened. Nicholas revealed himself with a black tower dripping waiting for her that he is drying with a hand towel at the moment.

I scanned him with my eyes once before I pushed him inside and showed him the missed call that I got from Andra.

"Who is this? It's the third time that she has called me. I declined it twice but I don't think she'll stop calling me until I answer her calls." Just when I am done speaking. Rory's phone starts ringing.

I immediately hand over Rory's phone to her brother for him to answer Andra. whoever she is.

"She is Rory's best friend. Answer her."

My eyes almost popped out of its socket as I tried to communicate with him through it.

"Why would I? I don't even know her. What should I tell her?"

Nicholas glances at me once and sighs heavily before he slides to answer's phone call.

"God, were you rejecting my calls?" I heard a feminine voice speak from the other line. She has this raspy and sexy voice and it most definitely suits her name.

"Hey, And this is Nicho. I have Rory's phone at the moment. What is it? I'll just tell her?" He asked. There's this moment of silence. It's not the type of silence that happens because the woman on the other line is trying to comprehend what was said to her. It's a kind of silence like a calm before a storm. I have been working with different women since I was 18 and I think I know every woman's language whether verbal or not.

"You'll just tell her? Did she forget that I am hosting a bridal shower for her in Soho tonight? There is no way she forgot about that. I put in so much effort with this." Nicholas looked at me in the eyes, asking me to help him out.

Stripping in Elixir is my bread and butter and though it is a high-end bar. It's nothing compared to Soho in my opinion.

"No. No. She didn't forget about that. She just bought a dress for that bridal shower. She'll be there in two hours," he said and he ended the call.

"You have to show up. You must show up otherwise she'll be suspicious of you." Kairos and the rest of the Spencer are done with our dinner and we are about to leave in a few minutes.

"Are you good at memorizing people's faces?" He asked and I nodded my head. I have this sharp memory when it comes to things like this.

"Great, now go wait for me in Rory's room. I'll get dressed and I will see you."

Standing in front of Rory's room gives me cold feet. I wanted to take a step away from it and completely turn my back if I could. Just when I was about to twist open its knob. My body sensed the presence of someone watching me and it sent chills down my spine. When I turned my head to the left. I found the person who is sending me such feelings. Kairos is standing not far from me scrutinizing me with his hazel brown eyes as if I am a subject that he is so focused on studying.

When he started moving near me. I immediately composed myself.

"Why do you look like a total stranger in front of that room?" He asked. I bit the inside of my cheeks. I know what he was talking about because I was sure that I was eyeing the intricate details in Rory's room like it was my first time seeing it but I can't say that!

I blinked my eyes once as I tried to come up with a sensible explanation and yet when I opened them. Kairos is already standing next to me, his breath fanning my neck—that is how freaking close he is to me.

Someone then cleared his throat as we were having our moment and when I turned my head. It's Nicholas this time with his cashmere cardigan and black trousers. I suddenly became conscious of whether Kairos and I looked too intimate with each other or not.

"Nicho!" I greeted him. My eyes crawled back to Kairos.

"I am afraid that I will have to come home late tonight. I forgot about the bridal shower that Andra is hosting for me. It wouldn't be a bridal shower without my presence." I waited for him to speak but Kairos is a man of few words and he only stared back at me like he expects me to cancel my bridal shower because it is crystal clear that he is not pleased with the information.

"Nicho is driving me to Soho and then he'll drive me to your house."

"Does it have to be him? I can drive you to Soho and wait for you two. You should stop depending on him so much. I don't want to be in a marriage where it feels like you are a package deal and Nicholas comes with you."
