Chapter 5

It was just as Ariella had pictured it to be, lavish meals, feast, lots of wealthy people, glittering necklaces, shinning jewelries, it was lovely, she wished she could attend something like this, with a glowing dress just as theirs.

However, who was she kidding? She was nothing compared to them, she was just dressed in black and white waitress outfit, serving drinks to high class ladies and gentleman.

There was no way she could reach these high standards, and she was just a part time worker, fighting to get money to treat her ill father, perhaps, being here was a story to tell her best friend, he would be pleased to hear it all.

She drew a sharp breath and continued serving drinks while admiring how they speak elegantly, how their dresses reached the floor touching their shining shoes, how their lips were bright red and how their smiles bloom.

Money really makes one beautiful

She forced a smile and then she turned when she heard whispers from other female waitresses. “Mr. Gavin Garrick is here,” One said to another.

“Yes, and he so young and handsome, I heard he is single.” Another one spoke in a whisper and Ariella blinked, she had been hearing few waitress speak of this, but only now did she become curious as to who they spoke of.

“Yes, an eligible bachelor, but he is above our standards.” Another waitress walked next to them, she has also heard them talk. “You must be forgetting how arrogant and ruthless he is.” She added and this was another red flag of this man to Ariella

“How cruel he is doesn’t bother me, I just can’t resist him, and no lady can if they meet him.” The second one spoke again and Ariella glanced at her with a scoff, she could see her grinning from ear to ear and this was not the kind of love she wished for, admiring someone who could never be hers.

Not all ladies are fools to be captivated by a man

“Yet he hasn’t been seen with any lady, and right now he is here alone while all young wealthy men who came here arrived with a lady, I think we all should know by now that he is gay.” The third one told them and this time Ariella scoffed.

What a waste of time?

She shook her head, no longer interested in the gossip or whispers. This was yet another story to tell my best friend, he would really crack up when he hears I became interest in the gossip of a gay.

She drew a sharp breath and went to fill her tray with glass of red wine again, she still had to work, rather than pay attention to gossips, whereas, there were lots of handsome men here, but she dares not crush on any of them, not when she has feelings for someone else.

She grinned and took out her cell phone and scrolled to her best friends number, there she saved the number with a big heart on it, he was the only person she wishes to talk to, the only person she wants to tell all her story.

However, they haven’t spoke to each other for six months, he moved from the country side and they lost contact somehow, but she still sent him mails most time, his number doesn’t connect, but she wouldn’t delete it, he may call one day as she left her number at every mail she sent.

I will confess my feelings to him when we meet again and this time it won’t be a secret crush.

She grinned and tucked her cell phone in her pocket, no matter how handsome all the men here were, her heart beats for just one person, and it was her best friend and a part of her knew they would meet again, soon and that was for sure.

She placed glasses of red wine on her tray and raised it up to go serve to the guest. She took five steps forward when she heard her cell phone ring.

She stopped and takes it out, and her forehead creased when she saw it was a call from Gabby yet again.

I should as well block her number, how many times do I have to tell her I don’t work there anymore!

She ended the call without taking it and was about to tuck the phone back in her pocket when suddenly her phone buzzed with message.

She opened the message from Gabby and read: Ariella, Mr. Henry has pinned a theft of on you and he has somehow found your home address, I think there is no avoiding it now, I wanted to tell you, be careful as he is a scary man.

“What!” Ariella didn’t care if she was heard as she said this out loud. “That bas**rd!” She cursed under her breath and quickly tucked her cell phone in her pocket.

“How dare he?” Her forehead creased and her lips were pressed down in a straight line. “He want to fight, I would give it to him then.” She turned around quickly and mistakenly stepped on her own toes as she stumbled forward.

She tried to steady herself, the tray flew up from her hands and her eyes dilated, she was still falling, so she grabbed the coat of the person standing next to her.

The eyes of the man who was grabbed unexpectedly darted to the glass that was falling, and he quickly wrapped his hand around her waist and hugged her, swiftly avoiding the tray that fell on the ground with the glass shattering.

He pulled her in the opposite direction to avoid the glass, but a tiny piece of the glass cuts her skin. “Ouch!” She cries in pain, her head on his chest, her eyes shut and her leg injured by the shape piece of glass.

“Hey, are you alright?” He asked her and she slowly opened her eyes only to see the pair of eyes staring at her, their lips parted in a gasp.

Yes, I know I have just caused a scene at the party, but it was a mistake so you all shouldn’t stare at me like you don’t make mistakes. She said in her head.

“Are you alright?” The deep voice asked again reminding her of her leg pain and she was slowly pulled from him at arm-length and the moment she looked up at him, she gasped.

She admired the man standing before her, his tall well-built body that she had leaned on, his cute pointy chin pointing at her, his thin pink lips, his sharp pointed nose, his broad forehead and cheekbones which become narrow when you follow the lines of his face down to his jaw line.

She stared at his intense pale blue eyes that were capable of giving an intimidating look to someone and that made him even more attractive, honestly, his charisma and handsomeness are undeniable, but the way his eyebrows hung, she knew he has also recognized her.

“You!” His eyes shifted from her face down to her lips, his forehead slowly creased and his eyebrows furrowed.

It is the stranger I kiss the other night, who was I fooling when I said I wouldn’t meet him again. Her eyes dilated as she stared into the eyes of the stranger she never thought she would meet again.
