She sigh as she flagged down a taxi. She needs to go home first to clear her head, things are not going as planned for her.
She got home and throw herself on the only couch in her room, breathing heavily. Pondering over the last two months, she keep wondering if her life was only meant to experience ill luck.
After the nightstand with the stranger who claimed his name was Damon, she had vacated New York to avoid any necessary drama that might come knocking on her door.
Two months away from New York, she recently find out she was pregnant and there are no two ways about it. The stranger is responsible for it but that is not the problem.
The problem is her inability to trail him. Since almost a week after returning back to New York, she had been on the lookout for the stranger but all her effort proved abortive.
She is tired of this clueless search which is taking her nowhere. Her bank is almost running dry, it can last her up to a month. She knew if she doesn't find a way out and a means of earning more cash, she is going to starve to death.
"Tomorrow, I'll just go out and look for something to earn money with." She convinced herself as she managed to drag herself to her kitchen. She was hungry and tired and needs to take in something to hold her for a while.
She couldn't stop sighing as she prepared the last portion of the cereal she was having. She will have to work to earn more money for her to feed well. She is pregnant and soon, she sure knows she will be consuming a lot.

Working in a coffee shop did not make her life anywhere near better, the peanut she earns can't take her anywhere. And the stress she faced in it is really uncalled for!
‘I need to find something much more better than this, I'll just have to leave this coffee shop and find something much more better than this. She thought within herself.
"But when will I stop running from a certain job to another? I need a stable and permanent job that might last me better for ages. I need to earn to cater for my baby and me." She muttered, her countenance was nowhere near fine.
Merely looking at her, anyone would guess she is mentally drained and is going through a lot. This was not the Megan she used to be, she is really changed for the worst and she knows that!
____
"You are stressed, Megan. I hope it's your new job?" Emilia, Megan's new friend at work asked with concern laced in her voice. Emilia usually comes to the coffee shop where Megan works every noon to get her boss and herself two cups of coffee.
Soon, she made friends with Megan, and not just any friend but a good one at that. Megan enjoyed the company and wish she would always stay a little longer, the few minutes Emilia always used is enough to ease her pain a little.
Imagine if she spends much more time with her?
"I'm not just myself, Lia. Everything is not going as planned, things are really falling apart for me. I need something much better to fetch me enough money to cater for myself." Megan replied with a strained expression. She had never told anyone about her baby, not even her new friend, Emilia.
"Well, I think I remember something now and I don't know if you will be interested in it?" Emilia asked her, searching Megan's eye if she would see any doubt but she couldn't find any.
"Tell me, is it worth the risk? There should be much money in it right?" Megan asked curiously. At this point in her life, she only yearned for a greener pasture and she is ready to do anything to get there.
Anything but robbery and kidnapping!
"I'm only telling you this because I can't do it but seeing you, I guess you can. I'll just brief you on it and then we talk better after I closed from work." Emilia added.
"I'm okay with any way you decide to explain to me, you are making me get more curious about it," Megan muttered in reply.
If there should be anything Megan dislike, she dislikes being kept in suspense. She hates it when people beat around the bush, she always wants everyone around her to be straightforward.
"I'll meet you here after work, is it okay?" Emilia said as she checked her wristwatch, she is really running out of time. Her boss might yell at her if she delivers his coffee late and she doesn't want anything like it.
"Fine, I'll be waiting for you..." Megan muttered. "I can see you are running late. Go, whatever you have to say can always wait, I think."
Emilia picked up her cups of coffee after paying for them and made to leave. "Don't beat yourself up too much, everything will be just fine." She said with a small smile before rushing out of the coffee shop.
....Later that night...
"I overheard him saying this with one of his friends, I would have gone for it but I'm not sure I can withstand the stress that comes with it," Emilia said with a small laugh. "Though the pay is huge, it might take me two years and more to gather such an amount."
Megan watered for the kind of pay she would be getting if she applied as a surrogate for the multimillionaires who are in need of one.
"How can I get to your boss?" Megan asked almost immediately, she has no time to think it twice. The thinking will come after she gets the deal.
"Hey, slow down. Did you even ponder about this first?" Emilia asked, she is so concerned about her friend's decision.
"Why do I need to think about it? Some day, I will have to give birth. It's something I can't run from, why do I need to be scared about being a surrogate?" Megan replied to her friend calmly, she doesn't need to sound like a glutton or a gold digger.
"Well, it's true..." Emilia reasoned Megan's words as she nodded slowly. She brings out a card from her bag and hands it over to Megan. Emilia knows Megan won't reject offers like this but she never expects it to be this fast.
"I can get to your boss with this right?" Megan asked even when she knows the answer to her question already.
"Yes! His address and digits are there, you can give him a call to clarify your doubts." Emilia said as she zipped her bag, getting ready to leave. "It's almost late, I need to go."
"Yes, sure. Thanks for this anyways, I'm really grateful." Megan smiled genuinely for the first time in months now as her eyes sparkled with hope.
"It's really nothing since you are my friend," Emilia answered and made to leave. "I wish you luck on this, baby girl."
Megan could only nod as she watch Emilia leave. This is her chance. This might be the greener pasture she has been looking for and she must not miss the opportunity...
"We are in need of someone who is capable of doing this for us, not just any person. Are you sure you are capable?" Hilary asked Megan for the umpteenth times. She wants no mistake whatsoever, all she wants was to be sure she's trusting the right person."Of course, ma'am. I'm more than capable for the surrogacy, trust me, ma'am." Megan answered, trying not to sound desperate. She picked her words gently and make sure she can convince them about her capability."Fine, we will be paying you part of the money during the surrogacy process and the remains after you conceive successfully. Is that okay by you?" Dwayne spoke for the second time since Megan was being interviewed. He decided not to say much and trust his wife on it, women know how to talk things out with their fellow gender."Here, go through this to know if you will accept whatever rules we lay down for you. It's your choice with whatever you choose, no one forced you." Hilary handed the documents over to Megan.Megan went t
Truly, one can go an extra mile just to get the printed papers since it's capable of making anyone do the unthinkable. The ride was long and Megan won't stop thinking about how her stay with the Zahans will be. Would she enjoy those long stays at their house and would it be enough to make a good and long-lasting memory?Or she will desperately wish she never left with the Zahans? This thought keep replaying in her mind but after a while, she decided to push the thoughts aside. For now, she needs to focus on the long ride that seems not to be ending any time soon. After what seemed like forever, the expensive drive was ushered into a mansion. They all hop down from it after it was parked properly. She was surprised, ‘But this was not the same house...’ The Zahans must sure be heavily loaded for them to bring her to another building.‘Holy Shepherd!’Megan stared at the huge building, she was totally mesmerized at how huge the house is. She tried her possible best in hiding her facial
Slowly and gradually, Megan's baby bump has started protruding, and it was bulging faster than expected. Each moment drawing her near to her due date, soon she will have to bring the new life into the world.Since she knows the truth behind the baby she was carrying, she couldn't just wait to meet the first fruit she will be producing in the main time. But then, she will be left heart broken at the end of the day. Officially and due to the contract, the baby won't be hers anymore, and after she births the child, she will be forced to part with them.“Are you ready, Megan.” Hilary called out in loud tone. “I've been waiting here for you for a while now, Megan.”“I'm almost done. I'm finding my sandals really hard to put on these past few days.” Megan replied in a quick voice as she descends the stairs rushing like she has been chased by greater force.“Be careful, Meg. You might trip with that your pace, be gentle with your walk steps.” Hilary cautioned softly. Since Megan's stay with
She was finding it difficult to stand on her own as she uses Hilary's neck for support, crossing her hand over it.The pain she was feeling was intense with her cloth dripping wet, which doesn't seem to be normal to her. Hilary, on the other hand, was confused on what to do next.‘Should I change her wet dress first or take her to the hospital like that?’ Hilary thought with in herself, doubts and confusion written all over her. She has not experienced something like this before, and she seems so naive about it, anyone would have noticed this.“Elite, get Megan a new dress and be fast about it…” Hilary hissed out, clearly frustrated from confusion. In the next few minutes, Elite was rushing down with a new dress for Megan as ordered.Megan doesn't look like she would stop her writhing and groaning any time soon due to the unbearable pain beneath her pelvic area, it hooked her so much, giving her no time to express herself.“Why does she need a new dress now, ma'am? We are supposed to
It's past six hours already, the day was getting darker and the sun, it's self, is already setting. Hilary won't stop pacing down the waiting room, thick tension hanged like a ticking bomb on the air.Hilary only saw the doctor entered the labor room with few nurses, giving her no room to question. Hilary understood the situation at hand, without being told, her instinct keep ringing to her that something is off.All she could hear was faint screaming and groaning from Megan, her voice was faint because it was coming from behind a closed door, that was Hilary's thinking. With the same pace, the doctor used in entering the labor room, the same way she rushed out after thirty minutes or more.“We need to talk, Mrs. Zahan. Where is your husband?” Ms. Arielle asked with emergency laced in her voice. “You both decision is what we need now.”Hilary followed the doctor closely like an obedient servant to the doctor's private office, this time she was finding it difficult to sit and was glad
It's been three days since Megan was discharged from the hospital, Hilary has always made sure she lacks nothing both in attention and care.Seeing that Megan is physically okay than she was before, she decides it time to resume her work. She knows the type of tight schedule she will be having, coupled off with her absence from work. It's a new week, Hilary was still dressing up for work. Dwayne decided to seize the opportunity to have a few talks with Megan. Using the contract to start a conversation isn't a very bad idea to him.“You should know how hectic and time-consuming our work is, Megan.” Dwayne muttered. This was the first time he would be speaking to her since months now. When he return back from his business trip few days ago and pay her a visit at the hospital, he did not even spare her a glance twice nor utter a single word to her. He only smiled and mumbled few words to the babies, nuzzling their nose too.Dwayne's thinking was he would not get the chance to meet Megan
“Can I see it? The ledger and the iPad too. I need to know how far you guys have gone in the past few days.” Dwayne did not bother going into his office first, he is mainly concerned about the company's growth since his absence. There is a concrete reason for the companies to be entrusted under his care as the sole owner, and he needs to prove it, even to beyond.“Here it is, sir.” It was given to him by the head of his staffs. “Just some li…”Dwayne cut him short roughly with a hard face glare. “Your opinion is not needed as of now, let me go through these first.” His voice was bossy with no traces of friendliness in it.The head of staffs swallowed hard into nothing, his expression is not bright as he appeared like he's under the influence of greater force.Dwayne focused his attention on what he's going through, and soon, his face and expression darkened with his brows creased in a tight frown.“How do I go about this poor analysis and trash you guys are giving me? What do I do wit
The rain was drizzling since dawn, with no hope of stopping any time soon. Umbrellas were held high, black outfits were seen on every one with no other color with faces pale with grieve. The men were in dark costly suits and the women, black gowns with black scarfs on their head. Only few were putting on glasses and their color is obvious, black. The atmosphere was thick as awkward silence hanged like a ticking time bomb. The quietness was deafening, only the soft voice of the priest was heard, but it was barely audible as it sounds far too faint.A brief opening statement was said by the priest with little introduction of himself. The deceased remembrance followed next, coupled up with eulogy. The committal followed after wards and then the closing statement. After these, the deceased was asked to rest as the coffin was lowered inside it new home. The family of the deceased who was the patriarch of the Zahans’ family paid him their last respect. The reception would be held afterwards
