The club lights flickered in waves of violet and gold, painting every corner in a haze of anticipation. The bass of the music thumped like a heartbeat, making the air feel thick with energy, and Sophia could feel it vibrating through her chest. She was stacking glasses at the bar, pretending to focus, but her attention kept drifting back to the table.

Luke sat there, casually swirling his drink, watching her every move. The subtle tilt of his head, the way his eyes followed her she hated to admit it but it made her pulse race.

This is ridiculous, she told herself. It’s just a game.

But it didn’t feel like just a game anymore.

Duke leaned against the edge of the bar, pretending to talk to Tess, but his attention never left her. His smirk was subtle, but it carried a dangerous weight. “You know,” he said softly, “you’re harder to read than I thought.”

Tess stiffened slightly, gripping her tray. “I… I don’t know what you mean.”

“You will,” Duke whispered, letting the words linger like a challenge. He straightened and walked back to the table, leaving Tess’s mind spinning.

Lila glanced toward Kyle, who was now leaning closer than ever as he handed her a cocktail. “Careful,” she said, trying to sound authoritative, though her voice shook slightly.

Kyle’s grin was infuriatingly charming. “Careful? I was just noticing how impressive you are.”

Lila froze, heart pounding. Noticeable? Impressive? She couldn’t tell if she was annoyed, flattered, or… both.

Sophia’s hands trembled slightly as she returned a tray to the counter. Luke noticed and leaned forward just enough to catch her eye. “You’re distracted,” he said softly.

“I… I’m not,” Sophia replied too quickly. Her pulse betrayed her.

Luke’s smirk widened. “Oh, I think you are. And I like it.”

She swallowed hard. “I… I don’t know what you mean.”

“Of course you do,” he said, voice low and teasing. “It’s written all over your face.”

The girls huddled briefly behind the bar, whispering.

“This is… insane,” Sophia muttered. “They’re not just teasing. It’s… something else. Something dangerous.”

Tess smirked, hiding the flutter of nerves in her chest. “Dangerous? That’s exciting.”

Lila rolled her eyes, trying to remain practical, but even she couldn’t hide the way her pulse had sped. “Exciting, sure… but we need to keep our guard up. They’re playing a game, and we don’t even know all the rules yet.”

Luke decided it was time to escalate. He rose from the table, moving with smooth confidence toward Sophia, stopping just a few feet away, letting the music and crowd fade into the background. “I was thinking,” he said lightly, “about how the night started… and how it might end.”

Sophia raised an eyebrow. “End?”

Luke’s lips curved into a teasing smirk. “Well… that depends on you. How much fun are you willing to have?”

Her stomach tightened. Fun? Or trouble? She couldn’t decide.

Meanwhile, Duke had Tess pinned into subtle attention with a playful conversation. His charm was deliberate, teasing, almost dangerous in the way it drew her in without touching her. “You’re too serious,” he said softly. “Relax. Enjoy the night. Or at least… try.”

Tess glared, hiding the quickening of her pulse. “I don’t need advice.”

“Maybe not,” Duke said with a wink. “But you want it.”

Kyle was making Lila laugh now, light and easy, but his eyes never left hers. Each word, each gesture, calculated, playful. “You have no idea how impressive you are,” he said, voice teasing, deliberately brushing his hand near hers as he handed over a drink.

Lila’s cheeks burned. “Stop it,” she muttered, half-laughing, half-trying to keep her composure.

“You’re cute when you’re flustered,” Kyle whispered, barely audible over the music.

Sophia tried to act busy, pretending the glasses in front of her were all that mattered. But Luke’s gaze, subtle and dangerous, kept finding her. He leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice just enough for her to hear over the music.

“You were confident back then,” he murmured. “Laughing at us, thinking we were nothing. Funny how much has changed.”

Her stomach sank. The memory of that night—the humiliation she and her friends had caused hit her all at once. Oh no.

Luke smiled faintly, a dangerous glint in his eyes. “And now? Now it’s my turn.”

Sophia’s pulse skyrocketed. She felt her defenses weaken in ways she hated to admit.

The four billionaires had planned this carefully. Subtle touches, teasing comments, lingering looks—all designed to disarm and captivate. The girls felt it, though none of them fully understood why. The air itself seemed charged, humming with tension.

She shook her head, trying to stay grounded. “I… I’m not sure what you mean.”

“You will,” he replied, stepping back with a dangerous smirk. “Eventually.”

Duke leaned against the bar once more, letting Tess glance up at him briefly. “You have no idea what you’re in for tonight,” he said, voice low and teasing.

Tess’s pulse quickened. “I… I don’t know what you mean.”

Duke’s grin widened. “Oh, I think you do.”

Tess’s hands shook slightly as she adjusted a tray, trying to maintain composure. “I… I don’t know what to do,” she whispered to Lila.

“Neither do I,” Lila admitted quietly, her gaze flicking to Kyle, who was watching her with calculated amusement. “But I can’t look away either.”

Luke took a slow step closer to Sophia again, lowering his voice. “You laughed at us years ago,” he said softly. “Now… you’re the one who’s caught off guard.”

Sophia’s stomach dropped. “You… you’re serious?”

Luke’s grin deepened. “As serious as the look in your eyes. You know it too.”
